  • Definitely see out professional help! They can help you develop a healthy relationship with food, so that you don't gain too much nor lose too much. The goal of most ED treatments is to develop a healthy view of eating, your body and what you're fueling it with! There is no shame in admitting you need help, the strongest…
  • The only fast on non-religious grounds I approve of is the one between dinner and breakfast. LOL! Sometimes a lack of food and water is needed for religious purposes, this I understand. But I don't always approve of them. Especially when it's a no food AND water. Going too long without water is deadly very quickly. Any…
  • Water: 7/7 Food: 6/7 Cardio: lots of minutes (unknown amount of dancing around a campfire on Saturday, love it!) Strength: 120 or so minutes
  • Hey everyone! I think I forgot to post a report in! LOL! This has been an insane week. My BFF in the lab just successfully defended her dissertation this morning, and I have 2 undergraduate students doing an honor's thesis defense the next two days. Forgive me for being a little scattered! Claudette - Thanks for posting…
  • To keep track of when I get around to posting these threads, feel free to add me as a friend (if you haven't done so already)! ~Liz
  • Wow, from eating fast food all the time to eating way healthy. Amazing to begin with! Don't worry about buying "diet" and "light" foods. Go with the full fat, full calorie versions. That will boost your calories without eating more. Next, try adding more fat and oils to your diet. Things like olive oil, coconut oil,…
  • I'm a work in progress! Suffered that for years. Now people are afraid of me! LOL! (Because I might sit on them, but soon it will be because of muscles again!)
  • Bump, so I can find it to play with at home! Don't have the plug-in at work.
  • I know how you feel! I've been fighting my weight for over 9 years. It seems impossible some times. I've gotten so close to goal, and something happens, I start eating like old habits, and gain it all back. Sometimes feeling down is just for a few weeks. Sometimes it's much longer lasting. You may want to consider talking…
  • Martine - I think you get medical leave until you can eat real food again! Claudette - Totally envious of your weather! I'm hoping it will be nice enough for me to go for a run tomorrow, instead of hitting the treadmill, as they hurt way more than outside! I'm feeling really good after yoga. Nice and refreshed. I'm so…
  • You need to spend enough to make it worth using! To get the best read, you need to get one with a chest strap. Any other is not very accurate or completely useless. I learned this the hard way! Cheap ones are just not worth the money you spend on them. Better to save up a couple weeks and get a really nice polar. I have…
  • Need to keep that pic around!
  • Congrats! It works super well!
  • Awesome advice. I also recommend yoga for increasing muscle strength and flexibility. It has helped me lean out my arms and thighs!
  • This is an excellent book for anyone who runs! Not just barefooters!
  • I'm just plain hypo, and thyroid issues do cause slower weight loss. Even treated issues. Most people with low thyroid issues have found a lower carb diet (less starches like white potatoes, bread, many grains, etc.) works better. But even still, you are going to have to work your butt off for every pound you lose. It's…
  • I took it for a month and really liked it. My doctor wouldn't prescribe it again for me though. I felt pretty good, and had plenty of energy, and didn't feel like I was starving all the time (despite the fact I was starving with only 700-800 calories a day). But I see her a minimum of once a month, so she's constantly…
  • I hear you! Give your body time to adjust to the more calories. You may see a weight increase in the first week. Don't fear it, accept it and continue on. Once your body figures out this is how much it's going to get on a regular basis you'll start dropping again. Give it a month and see! I typically eat back 2/3 to 3/4 of…
  • Hey gang! Glad to see everyone around! I got all the strength training in on Monday, LOL! I did an hour yesterday. My shin cramped up while running, so I couldn't do it after about 13 minutes. That really sucked a lot. So I meandered over to the free weights and managed to get use of a smith machine too. Tried out some…
  • Some companies (like Kelloggs Special K) have made cracker chips. They're pretty good too. I like a lot of the Kashi TLC crackers (tasty little crackers, yum!) Oddly, I don't miss chips that much...
  • If you're always hungry, you need to eat more! Even when trying to lose weight, you need to eat enough to fuel your body properly. If you just upped your calories, it should help a lot. Give it a couple of weeks and see! Make sure you get plenty of protein and fiber. These will fill you up for a longer amount of time. Keep…
  • Getting toned arms is done by lifting heavy weights. Getting bulky is by eating a lot and doing nothing, or by taking steroids. Hope that helps! (New rules of lifting for women is AWESOME!)
  • Struggle? Oh yeah! I'm still working at it off and on, but boy, it's hard. I'm good with level 1 now, and I do the full exercises where I can. But level 2? The pain is unbelievable the next day, so I rarely do it more than once a week. This has been a mighty long 30 days at this rate...
  • I hide my eating, but only when I'm eating poorly! LOL. I have friends tell me I need to eat more, but my response is usually that I can't eat anything other than what I have because of my food allergy! I really do have a food allergy, but I'm sure it would work anyway! I only just found out that I have a food…
  • If it's indicative of something more, seeing a doctor is truly all you can do, right? Don't fret over them now, just wait until you see your dermatologist. Hopefully that will help!
  • That's a tough situation! Don't want to be eager and pushy, but want to know more! Glad you got some news regarding the position. Perhaps a polite call towards the end of the week would be in order, 2 weeks is all I would wait before asking about it!
  • You need to keep doing the workouts to maintain the muscles. And calories as dusty said.
  • If you can take the straight cocoa beans, you're probably best. I go for 85% dark chocolate. (Only 15% sugars and emulsifiers!) I happen to love greens & blacks, but lindt is okay.
  • Crunches and sit-ups are not always the best ab exercises anyway! Yoga and dancing as well as weight training have really given me nice abs (under my flab of course, lol). Just walking around with good posture works those abs pretty good.
  • Do what you feel you can and don't worry about the rest! If you're truly sick, take the time off and focus on getting better. If it's just enough to be annoying, go ahead and exercise.
