• Look into Convict Conditioning or You Are Your Own Gym. They're progressive bodyweight programs that require little to no equipment, and show you variations on movements from beginner to advanced. ETA: This link is for Nerd Fitness, and is also a bodyweight circuit. Do you have a park nearby you could use?…
• If you're not against alcohol of any kind, this Guinness cake is absolutely fantastic. I made it for St. Patty's day, and it's decadent, rich and almost lava cake like in texture. It does come in at ~550 calories per slice (16 slices per cake) though...…
• Confession: I have Siri set to call me, "Oh, Great Bearded One." When she responds, "What do you need me to do, Oh Great Bearded One?" I lol. Every time. How do you do this??
•
Wow what an extreme experience! Is that called post traumatic stress syndome/disorder? I'd get that checked out if I were you, it's not good for you!
I'm not sure if it's PTSD or not, because for medium to large amounts of time I can keep it out of my head (I was doing really well for a while) but when…
• I watched my boyfriend fall off of a ridge while we were scrambling last summer. He was airlifted off of the mountain (I had to leave him to go get help-no choice), ended up in critical care for a week and had a total of 12 days spent in the hospital. Every time I can't get a hold of him, I get terrified that something's…
• Confession: We went to the mountains this weekend for our 1 year anniversary, and I calculated my calories for the weekend based on doing 2 medium to hard hikes on Saturday and Sunday. The weather didn't cooperate so while we saw a lot of viewpoints and took a lot of pictures, we didn't do any strenuous activity for any…
• I've used three or four different BCPs, the Mirena IUD and Nuvaring over the past 10 years. None of them made me gain weight (they did increase my appetite which took a bit of getting used to after switching to each new method). I like the Nuvaring the best (I don't feel it once it's inserted, similar feeling to inserting…
• I have two: This one is currently sitting in my fridge at home, and I'll be baking another on Monday for a St. Paddy's day celebration on Tuesday. http://loveswah.com/2013/03/dark-chocolate-guinness-cake-with-baileys-cream-cheese-icing/ This one I made 2 weeks ago for a friends wedding. The only thing I wasn't super fond…
• Lol I definitely keep forgetting not everyone is a shortie like me! I'm 5'3, and my bf is 5'9, so we don't run into tall people problems often. Totally makes sense, and a full power rack is also on my need list too for when we actually buy a house :)
• That's very true too! When I started using my half rack, I had to switch from regular bench press to an incline one, because even at the lowest setting on the pins, my arms were too short and I couldn't unrack properly, and I had no way to raise up the entire height of the bench. I ended up getting extremely frustrated…
• Makes sense, I was just thinking about that actually. You could squat, bench press and deadlift with a half rack, but overhead press and anything similar wouldn't work.
• Have you tried finding a half rack instead of a full squat rack or power cage? I have 7 foot ceilings and the half rack fits nicely there.
• Home, but only because I recently acquired a squat rack, barbells, dumbbells/kettlebells, a chinup/dip station, and a boyfriend who will spot me if I need it. My warmups were actually the hardest part to do in the condo, but then I discovered a back set of stairs I can run, and I have a foam roller on hand for mobility…
• Confession: I jumped at the idea of dog sitting an adorable Boston Terrier for a friend this week. I didn't say yes because I actually wanted the dog (that's an added bonus), but because I knew it would severely piss off my two cats, who are furry little ***chbags. I know I'll pay for it later with revenge poops, but it…
• http://allrecipes.com/recipe/one-pot-salsa-beef-skillet-2/detail.aspx I use 1 cup of shredded cheese in total instead of the cheddar cheese sauce/cheese on top, and I use 200 grams of egg macaroni noodles instead of actual KD. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/spicy-tuna-fish-cakes/detail.aspx Takes a while, but is super easy…
• http://allrecipes.com/recipe/one-pot-salsa-beef-skillet-2/detail.aspx I don't use actual KD or the cheese sauce, instead I sub macaroni and add in a 1/2 cup of nacho cheese when I add in the frozen corn, and then put another 1/2 cup on top and cover with a lid to melt it. I divide it into 5 or 6 meals, and it freezes well.
• Hello everyone, long time no post for me! There's some great lifting happening in this thread! I'm happy to report my boyfriend (who fell off of a mountain) is making great progress in his recovery, and as a result, is not only supportive of me taking some time to myself, he's harassing me to get back to the lifting (he…
• I've so far been able to get 1, and get to eye level on the second one, but that's it lol.
• We did the same race! I was part of team Taste the Rainbow, we were dressed as human Skittles. So fun!
• Awesome link!
• @Gen, you look awesome!
• @suremeansyes, wow lady, you look awesome!!
• I second this, and the links to the videos are below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSSDLDhbacc (Limber 11) http://www.leanbodiesconsulting.com/joe-defrancos-simple-six-upper-body-warm-up (Simple 6)
• Happy Monday ladies! My lifting has been non-existent, so I'm repeating my "1" week of Wendlers this week, starting tonight with squats. I did go for a nice scramble yesterday, 4 hour round trip, 2 hours up and 2 hours down. I went with a friend who has a worse fear of heights than I do, and she did pretty well, we were…
• Are you doing high bar or low bar? If you're doing high bar, try switching to low bar for a while, see if that helps. If you don't want to or don't like low bar, then follow the normal deload procedure SL lays out, and work your way back up with good form :)
• I second the mixed grip suggestion, and I use chalk instead of gloves. Technically speaking my gym doesn't allow chalk, but I loop-holed that rule by buying a "non-marking chalk substitute" off of Amazon  For me, gloves still get slippery and it feels like I'm not gripping the bar as much, it definitely affects…
• Lifting will do amazing things for you :) Keep in mind that you're very likely going to see a scale increase at the beginning, it's pretty much inevitable due to the water retention from starting a new program, but it does eventually even itself out, provided you keep eating at a deficit. Also, from experience (this…
• If stretching is helping, I forgot to mention earlier, try using a foam roller as well. They're brutal but very, very effective.
• How sore you get changes from person to person, but I am one of them as well. When I first started SL, I had to space out the workouts to once every 3 days, because I would be sort of sore the day after, but it was the second day that really hit me with the DOMS. Provided your form isn't off, your body will adjust and the…
