Yup, when I'm 40 mine will be 21, 18 and 16. My own personal taxi drivers :D Glad you got the assignment sorted - always a relief. Lifted upper body today.... improvements seen in almost every lift (either weight or reps) - wooohoooo. Now must also go to work :(

Pmag - good to hear from you <3 :) I know, right? We'd have some awesome wine-deserving-gym sessions. Although.... no years wasted in my 20's... I was 19 when I had my eldest and had all 3 by the time I was 24 (yes Dawn, I'm the same age as you with a 12, 9 and 7 yr old LOL). I am waiting for my 40's to enjoy spending time…

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my hubby and my kids. But O.M.G. I am nearly weeping thinking about how different my life could have been. Even a few minutes to myself..... with no one else to think about.... would be bliss. In fact, maybe this is the ultimate reason why I work out..... just me time. With my iPod turned up so…

Dou - that's the worst! Think I'd have put myself under a hand dryer hahaha Julie - nice result on the WHT - far better that way round than it being less than you thought! Nice work. Dawn - glad you still got the run in despite the sleep in. I can't remember the last time I had a sleep in :/ Did leg day and combat at the…
-
Janie - what lifts are you doing? Can't say that I've had sore collarbone but bench can make my pecs and that region sore

Hell no, I did not do that in a week. Not fat loss anyway! Scale issue/ clothing/ time of the month.... Who knows?! Dou - been there done that. Don't feel bad. My best advice is to not squat for a while. Or drop the weight and do higher reps. Or sub in an alternative (I'm currently leg pressing instead of squats to get…

Well I'm doing a quick 180 on the whole cutting thing..... check in with PT for measurements etc today. Weight is down nearly 2kg since I weighed in last week (stupid scales), body fat is down 0.8% and most measurements are down. With the exception of flexed arms (hurrah - muscle!) and suprailliac which is always a dodgy…

Bacon maple donut? That sounds pretty incredible.... Combat was heaps of fun today... some old tracks but good ones. Was tough.
-
Well done Dawn..... though I can't imagine much worse than being sprayed/ bubbled/ foamed with colours as I run..... can't get into those concepts.... neon run, colour run... blah - why can't people just run? I'm more likely to do a True Grit or obstacle themed thing but when I went to do one it cost $200 to register! Far…

Lifted yesterday - DLs still shite. Ugh. Videoed my form - every first rep stinks (round middle back). After that the reps are perfect which makes it really hard to fix! I managed one good one out of about 40.... and that was the first one! Grrrrrr Combat today - at a new gym. Current place has cut it from the timetable so…

Just got back in from leg day, a run and 90 mins of hill walking - LOVE IT. I weighed myself at the gym - up 1.5kg.... that's now up 4kg (11lbs) since Feb.... looking forward to losing some of that but not looking forward to eating less, lol. Will have to increase cardio also. am going to give myself until Sept to continue…

Dawn - I didn't feel like I was getting leg drive until I changed my back position. Now I don't have my lower back on the bench when I do it - like this http://getthisstrength.com/bench-press-tips I couldn't even get my feet on the floor properly without arching like this. Leg day for me today - keen to workout as spent…
-
I felt the same to start with but now I'm loving it - my body is appreciating the longer breaks between lifts and I've seen improvements. Finally got all my reps on bench today - still feeble but managed 3 sets of 6 reps @ 72lbs which was my one rep max at the start of the year! And smashed out incline bench and push ups…

Sorry but the above post is BS. You can totally train whilst pregnant. Just speak to your maternity care providers and a physio to assess what specific things to avoid. I train and I'm a midwife - but each person is an individual and has their own needs. So speak to your health professionals - but don't stop training.

Glad you like it. I'm doing the three day version but sometimes I lift 4 times - depends on what else life throws at me. Yeah, there is nothing much 'new' in it, but variations and a bit of 'old skool' stuff. Don't think I have ever done bicep curls before now lol. I don't think it matters what day of the week you start so…

This is my current plan http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/the-muscle-building-workout-routine/

DL day yesterday.... and form still reasonable. Leg press - weight up. SLDLs - weight up. Couldn't do my standing calf raises as some muppet was squatting in the smith machine despite 2 free racks :s So did sit up/ push up combo as legs were f***ed anyway lol. Stiff this morning.... not a workout day for me.

I don't know how you girls do it without a solid program to follow - I like flexibility but don't achieve much when I don't follow a plan. I like my new program as I've not done an upper/ lower split before and it seems to be suiting my body. Each workout (upper A and B, lower A and B) has a good lift and a challenge...…

Mine are waaaay out of whack if you go with the activity level they state. At least 500 cals over for what I have determined to be my maintenance level (through years of figuring it out!)

I thought this too! A good number have gone MIA. Beeps - hols look great. Ali - weight loss is like waiting for a bus. Nothing happens and then 3 come at once. Keep up the good work. I'm enjoying lifting at the moment - nice to see some improvements - certainly keeps the motivation up. As does the stranger approaching me…

Nice work Dawn. I upped my bench reps yesterday so happy with that. Done a lot of combat to fix the amount of peanut butter consumed last week. Busy this week so lifting will be tues/ thurs/ sat. Squat day thurs but still thinking of swapping to leg press for a while - have tried many things to fix the squat and wondering…

Ugh, I wrote a long post and lost it. In essence, DLs were better today. Did combat tonight. All good. dna - also hating winter. I did my grocery shop with kids and one of their friends :) We seem to have good holidays and bad ones - this wasn't the worst, but it was hard work. Kids have been stir crazy as weather has been…

Dawn - how about rows? Where in your back is the arthritis? Day off for me yesterday after squats Monday. I am seriously considering not squatting for a while - I am not progressing and it's p***ing me off. Might swap them out for leg press and try to build more strength that way first. Thoughts? I have literally been…

I guess you have to feed your appetite - I'm ok eating the same amount every day. Some days I'm really hungry, but tend to opt for lots of low cal options so I can eat more quantity but end up about the same calories
-
Do you know your current body fat %? It's a good thing to know because then you can monitor change. As you lift, you will probably gain weight (not necessarily size) and the numbers on the scale can play havoc with sensibility (in my experience!). If you want to gain muscle, you'll need to be eating a surplus really, or at…
-
Congrats Dawn! You are smashing it!

Trial and error is the only way here. Personally I don't think weight loss should be your focus at your current weight, but you need to determine your goals and then monitor your progress towards them, adjusting calories and exercise as required.

My workout made me cranky today. Crappy DL form. Had a PT (and 2 others) trying to help me.... ended up with too much info and the basic feeling of 'I'm crap at DLs'. Back to crap low weights... ugh. On another note, someone I work with was there and working out with her friend. I was complaining about my DLs being rubbish…
-
100 is epic! I don't mix grip until 150lbs on regular DLs, but my elbows don't like the extended time holding the bar on Romanians, hence the mixed grip regardless of weight. Nice work on the running
-
I am so jealous of your bench work... so hard for me to increase. Oddly, I find push ups a breeze in comparison. Maybe that's because I'm smaller than you my push ups are easier?? Re: RDLs - have you tried a mixed grip? I find that a lot easier on grip and stops me getting sore elbows too. Me - squat day and combat today.…
