  • Beeps, this is all kind of BS..... and you know it. This is the wrong thread if you are after support in this regard. Dawn - you'll surprise yourself - you can do it :) Today I finally broke my bench plateau! Hurrah. Still pathetic, but hey, progress is progress. Thinking I need to swap SL for something else. With my…
  • Julie - I'd not heard of zercher squats before, had to google. OMG, it looks weird. Surely it can't be good for your elbows and arms? I understand the point of front loading though, but why choose that over front squats? The plus points about remaining upright in the move and engaging better glute/ hamstring action appeals…
  • I lifted today - squats - meh. OHP - progress... not with weight but reps. DL - working on form. Felt hard, think I'm worn out. Enjoy your high beepee - I need one of those!
  • I know Julie, talk about 'duh'! Combat yesterday, accessory day done today. Was tired after a busy weekend at work but did ok. Hate going to the gym in the evening tho' - full of dudes who just stand in front of all the dumbbells while doing bicep curls and totally getting in everyone's way. Ugh. Never mind, got in, got it…
  • I had a look at your diary for the past few days - you could fairly easily make some lower calorie choices. Happy to help if you want but I expect you already know this :) Feel free to browse my diary... but no low cal goals here Lifted today - fixed my bench issue. Squats good again. Happy.
  • Man I am so dumb sometimes..... how long have I been having grief with my squats? Sooooo freakin' long. Today, I remembered to use my glutes. Yes, those muscles that help you stand up again. So much easier! I've been concentrating so long on stopping my knee from rolling in that I have completely neglected every other body…
  • Thanks BarbellCowgirl - still playing up today, skipped squats. Bench - still stuck, can't up yet. I've started to get a weird rolling of my left shoulder which is crappy - not sure what's happening there. Rows - all my reps at 110lbs but need to work on form. The fourth rep of the five always seems to be yuk. Had good…
  • Thanks for these tips also :-)
  • Hey all, I just finished my night shifts for this month so off to bed shortly. Not managed to lift since start of the week but have gotten 2 x cardio workouts in. Hoping I feel energetic enough to lift after I sleep as otherwise it'll throw out my plan for next week. Gotta make sure I do something to address the magnum…
  • I'm so jealous! My injury and hip inflexibility are ruining SL for me :( I'm only going up to 100lbs with my squats (physio doesn't want me doing them at all!). Got my DL's checked yesterday and my tight hip flexors are causing me to slightly round my back on the first part of the lift (it's complicated to explain). So now…
  • So today I went to parliament, listened to MPs putting the case for midwifery-led models of care and then had morning tea with the Minister for Health. Random. I also lifted. Crappy bench, better squats. Rows starting to get hard at 105 lbs. Then elevated push ups and tricep dips for fun. Welcome back redlipsticklyfe…
  • I wait 1.5 - 2 hours post eating - couldn't do it right after!
  • Thanks for the support everyone :D <3 Fingers crossed a better opportunity is around the corner for him xx Dawn - Nice work, keep it up. Yep, those darn calluses - I hear 'ya Smallc10 - great progress! Well done you. Sorry to hear your family has the job hunting stress too - it sucks! dna - anything over 10 reps sucks in…
  • I'm here.... just crazy busy. Got all my reps on OHP this week - up weights next time. Couldn't workout yesterday - no time. Lifting and doing combat today to make up for it. Gotta up bench today - not sure how that'll go. Fingers crossed I can get some reasonable reps in. Hubby got made redundant yesterday :'( Kinda…
  • My understanding is that it is included rather than in addition.
  • I have never seen this either! I wear Lorna Jane - never had a problem. I also have brooks shorts with the inner lining so they are safe too.
  • Good on ya Dawn, starting running is really tough but honestly, once you've cracked 5k, the rest comes easy. Walked yesterday, combat today and day off tomorrow - body needs it. Looking forward to some big lifts Tues :)
  • That sounds odd to me - I was going to look at your diary but it's closed. Feel free to look at mine and get some ideas? xx
  • Lifted today - squats made my glute a bit twingey (is that a word?). Got all my reps with bench so gotta go up again - eeek! And barbell rows... upped the weight, got the reps, happy days. Was a good session considering I am v tired. Now to attack the ironing pile.... :\
  • And I got 189g protein today!
  • Lol, I eat dinner at 9pm every night - 10pm if I've been at work. I also eat something at 5pm with my kids tho'... lift more, move more = eat more :D Beeps.... starvation and missing meals? You know better than that. I don't wanna lecture but I will if it carries on ;) dna - hope your household are all better asap. There…
  • Why do Body Pump? This will only hinder your lifts on your lifting days. The ++++++ reps don't really assist with strength gain. Personally I'd forget CX works too - core strength can be gained from the program without a specific focus on it - lifting weights does this all by itself. The C25K is ok, but depending on your…
  • Try not to over think it. If you scrape your shins, you scrape them. If you don't, you don't. We aren't all made the same. Think core, think power, get your hips way back. Keep it simple
  • I lifted after work - it was kind of a 'just turned up' day. Tired and hungry = poor effort. Squats - keeping it light and not too deep to rest my glute so 5 x 5 @ 100lbs, OHP - moved up weight to 55lbs but only got 5,5,4,4,3. Should have gone for 5 x 190lbs with DL's but body not happy. Warmed up and got lots of reps all…
  • Shocker of a shift at work yesterday. Did a dvd at home with my 11 yr old yesterday - was fun to do it together. Combat this morning before back to work. Hope to lift tomorrow.
  • Well done Dawn - you'll be cranking out 10k's before you know it :-)
  • I do - it definitely improves my big lift. I only do small volume reps once near to the weight for that workout though or I fatigue. Maybe it is just a mental thing? I dunno! I'm sick - I have a cold. Feeling miserable. Got my workouts in this week - have broken my OHP and bench plateaus - hurrah! My accessory work is…
  • I'm here - busy working and working out. Not much time to do anything else. Check back in soon xxx
  • It is tough. If you aren't keeping the ball stable then you probably don't have your core on strong enough. I get the odd sideways wobble if I slack off for a second. Balance is all about core work so if you aren't strong enough yet, swap it out for planks on the ball as barbellcowgirl suggests.
  • Thanks Joan, I don't have a body fat goal, I just want to get stronger, eat more and stay lean hahaha
