  • You can exercise all you want, but if you are eating too much you aren't going to lose anything. My first guess is you aren't being very consistent. If you want it to work like a science you have to treat it like a science and be ACCURATE with your intake, including using measuring cups and weights and logging EVERYTHING…
  • Sleep. When I am not well rested my body literatly starts breaking down. My skin breaks out, I feel like crap, and I catch bugs and/or can't beat them easily. The average adult is supposed to get like 7 and 1/2 hours of sleep a night, but most people actually get like 5 or 6. I am happy with 9+ but can run on 8 without…
  • ^This!! Us skinnier girls have to work a bit harder at it to lose but still eat enough to stay healthy. It sucks but we really can't complain much! Hop to it! You're welcome and good luck!!:flowerforyou:
  • Yes. With at TDEE of 1350 and a goal of 900, you have a 450 cal defecit which is a little less than 1 lb a week (500 defecit). 3500/450= 7.8 days to lose one lb. However, I am assuming your TDEE includes your exercise because your 1080 BMR x 1.2 (sedentary multiplier) = 1,296 TDEE, which is 54 cals difference a day from…
  • If you aren't losing weight for weeks at a time there are only two things that could be causing it: Your goal is wrong. Perhaps your BMR has dropped alone with your weight and you haven't adjusted your goal. I am curious how quickly you were losing before, if you were at a steady 1 lb per week loss etc. Or You aren't…
  • Why don't you just use a measuring cup and pour water out of it to measure?
  • The reason you burn more is because your heart has to work harder, not directly because you have more fat but indirectly because your body had more work to do to flail around. Plus she may be more in shape than you. You're point is correct, but you can't trust a treadmill! Those things are notoriously inaccurate. Get a…
  • Any estimator is an AVERAGE. Alot of people are below that average, alot of people are above it. That's why it's an average. You can get a personalized test for yours from a doctor if you are that curious.
  • Manually adjust your goal below 1,200. This is really common for shorter women. Just make sure you continue to use exercise so you can intake more cals. Keep up the good work!
  • I would talk to your landlord and see what the policy is. Most apartment buildings have "quiet hours" where you aren't allowed to be doing anything noisy, but usually other than that you are fine. You can find this out and then, armed with this knowledge, tell them that A) they need to suck it up and deal with it or B)…
  • I know I'm not a guy but... You should ALWAYS rock heels if you want, no matter your height. They are dead sexy.
  • Good job using a HRM!! The BMR's are an average. About half the people are higher than that, half are lower. Sounds like yours is lower. I am curious about your rate of loss before you plateaued...I am sure you understand that your BMR slows as you lose weight. However, if for example before you were "set" to lose say 2…
  • There are two options: You are either overestimating your calorie burns because you aren't using a HRM And/or You BMR is lower than average and you need to drop your goal. It is pretty simple really: if you are MAINTANING your weight (consistently for weeks), then you obviously aren't eating at a deficit. My suggestion is…
  • Ignore all the people saying you should keep it or give it away. I think in this case when it is something that holds so much sentimental value to you, and in a painful way, you need to GO FOR IT!! As for how to trash it: playing tug of war with a dog, running over it/dragging it behind your vehicle, do the dishes with it,…
  • YUS!! Good job!! I used to have a hard time "wasting" food too, but then I realized that I would rather be wasteful than a glutton. Keep up the good work! :drinker:
  • Sounds to me like you are JEALOUS. Get. Over. It. If you were a real friend you would be HAPPY for him.
  • Just. Don't. Do. It.
  • Thanks for all your help!! Great suggestions! :flowerforyou:
  • Ok good. Sorry that you have issues. :frown: I would make a suggestion but i'm sure you have heard them all. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
  • 1,330 calories is NOT a "very low calorie intake." That would be something like 500 or 800 cal for a healthy weight, short female.
  • Great job taking something potentially discouraging and turning it into something inspiring!! However, PLEASE remember that unless you down 3,500 calories (or 7,000 for 2 lbs) MORE than your maintenance (which hopefully is higher than your goal), you are NOT going to really "gain" an lb overnight. If the scale changes…
  • First of all, don't judge ANY lost unless you have been doing if for a few weeks. You really can't tell what you are losing/gaining until you see a trend. If you honestly have tried to eat 1330 consistently for a few weeks and are gaining weight, that does mean your BMR is slower than normal. The BMR that estimators give…
  • 11 lbs in 35 days is 3 lbs per week. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week. You are right in your assumption: if you are losing faster than you have expected, then your goal would be too low. Yet a lot of people seem to drop a few lbs early on (like in the first few days), so if you "lost" 4 or something of those pounds…

  • You can healthily lose 1-2 lbs per week depending on how much you have to lose, I would say 1 lb per week going by your profile pic. 6 weeks means you can lose 6 lbs. People say there are 10 lbs to a size. So yes, if you are diligent and have your goal set right, it certainly is attainable.
  • It depends on the situation. If I am dressing for work, I dress to look professional and fashionable. This is normally noticed and appreciated by women but sometimes men. If I am going out, I dress for my man. And I love how people say "I don't CARE how people think I look." How silly. You're not the one who really sees…
  • Wow!!! Congrats!! Also, I don't know but your post seems to indicate it took you a year or so to lose what you have lost. However, if you have your goal set right, you CAN lost 1-2 lb per week healthily. So by making this assumption, I am assuming your goal was/is too high. I would have to see your numbers to know for…
  • Some people are capable of weighing every day and not letting what they see rule their day. But it is hard for a lot of people. Most weight loss programs (including MFP) recommend that you only weigh in once a week. An idea might be to set aside a specific day and time each week where you step on the scale, and ONLY then.…
  • From the mouths of babes. Great NSV. Keep up the good work, and congratulations on being such a great role model for your little one! :drinker:
  • My goal is below my BMR; so I make sure I almost always eat as close to my goal as I can get without going over. I think you should do the same thing, especially considering your past. Perhaps you don't think you are anorexic any more, but it appears your body and brain have some left over issues that you need to be on the…
  • Congrats on your NSV!! Not snacking is tough!! I have the same problem. I think alot of it stems from growing up in a big family. For example, if mom made us a birthday cake and we didn't have a big piece, when we woke up in the morning someone would have eaten it all. :grumble: I have overcome it by practice, practice,…
