  • ^^^THIS. Don't cheat. Your mom is on a different diet plan than you. Don't try to compare it. MFP isn't going to work for you if you aren't following it correctly, no matter if it's with healthy stuff or not.
  • Even if the guy is SUPER sexy Brad Pitt hot, I still don't want to see him topless unless it's in the bedroom or at a designated topless place like the beach or pool. There is just something so unneccesary and uncomfortable about it....we live in a SOCIETY, and it is approriate to wear shirts at almost all public places.…
  • Nothing.
  • I've been eating healthy for so long that AS SOON as I eat any greasy types of fast food my insides REVOLT. Body is NOT happy. It kind of sucks but it is THE BEST incentive.
  • I know EXACLTY how you feel. I always feel awkward with those complicated machines and the men grunting and sweating everywhere (no offense men, but you intimidate me!). And I had been going to the gym for years and it never really wore off. So instead I dropped my gym membership and do my strength training at home. You…
  • If it burns calories, it works. :) Walking is great for people who are really out of shape or those with bad knees especially. I LOVE walking because I HATE running. I don't have a problem walking for an hour and a half, but tell me I have to run for 10 minutes and it makes me very upset; even if I would be burning less…
  • My mom tells me frequently that she is "worried about me" and doesn't "want me to get obessed with this weight loss 'thing'." It is frustrating as well. Worry: it's just what mom's do. Maybe drop her a line once in awhile about how you had a really healthy big lunch the other day and it was so good, or that you went on a…
  • Always sleep like this as long as I can remember. I think it's more comfortable because I have wide "child bearing" hips.
  • Don't go too much under your daily goal though...I try to get as close as I can get to my goal without going over, sometimes I am within 1 or 2 cals even. Feed your body what it needs! You SHOULD eat back your cals if your TDEE does not include exercise. However, be careful eating them back if you aren't using a…
  • I'll say it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN: the ONLY thing that matters to lose weight is HOW MANY calories, not WHEN you eat them. I personally save up most of my calories for dinner, because I like to cook a big meal in the evenings. You may like lots of little snacks throughout the day, you make not. It's ALL personal…
  • It depends on what brand you get. I get the plain 2% Fage and it has 20 gs protien and only 8gs sugar....all for 150 cals! Show me something else that has that much protien (and that little sugar) for that calories! What a terrific snack. Yeah it's a little sour but whatever, I am SO SICK of eating yogurts with…
  • ^This. BMI is a blunt tool but it should give you a GENERAL idea. Always love it when people are like "BMI I SAYS I AM OVERWEIGHT BUT I DON'T WANT TO BELEIVE IT BECAUSE_______." Usually it's "BECAUSE I would look too skinny at the healthy weight." Lol. I thought most of us were beyond the age of thinking that beleiving in…
  • Wow, uhm, the zone is just a goal heart rate....not something to get all upset about.
  • My polar ft4 calculates it based on the average for your age/weight/height. It is probably 50 or 60%.... I'm 24/135lbs/5'5", and my zone heart rate is 125 (resting is a hair over 70, max is 194).
  • That's good that your heart is adjusting faster, it means it is getting stronger! I always wait until 30 secs OR until I drop below "the zone," whichever is quicker. I figure that I don't need to rest longer if my body has already recouped. (Usually for me it's more like 20 secs so I still get some rest in.)
  • Which is why we have a nation full of fatties. :grumble: Maybe this method works for someone who is and always has been in a healthy weight, but for people who are trying to lose (MOST MFP users) this method sets you up for a TRAIN WRECK.
  • I would say very active. (Moderately Active - moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk; Very Active - hard exercise/sports 6-7) If your BMR is 1,249 and and you are very active, your multiplier is 1.725 then your TDEE is 2149 and you SHOULDN'T have to log your calories unless you do something really above and beyond your…
  • Um. NO. Intaking just water for a long period of time (one day is not good, more than that is probably dangerous) is not healthy. People have done it out of ignorance or religious/political reasons. But it's NOT something you fool around with. It's ok to ask, but honestly, use some common sense. :grumble: Does it make…
  • OMG! You are drop dead gorgeous now lady!!! Thanks for the inspiration! Keep it up!!!:flowerforyou:
  • It's been alot of learning for all of us. But that's part of why MFP works better long term than diet fads and cleanses. You are making REAL changes and learning REAL things. Yes, different sites calculate BMR differently. When I first started I used an average of three sites I found. But, after you are on MFP for…
  • First off, you mean BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) NOT BMI (or Body Mass Index). If her BMR is 1,114 and she is sedentary (multiplier is 1.2), her TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is 1,336. That means if she eats this and continues her normal daily activity, she will stay at her EXACT weight. IF you are telling her to eat…
  • Yes, a week is NOT enough to time to judge any sort of loss. Three or so is better. Stick with it and don't fret! If it doesn't work after three weeks, your BMR might be lower than the average for your age/weight/height. Adjust as necessary and then wait three more weeks.
  • Hey lady, it sounds like you are doing great!! The one good thing about those rude comments at least is that they are part of your motivation....but I hope you get to the point where you realize that it's more fun to BE skinny instead of NOT be fat, if that makes sense. Don't do it to prove it to them, but do it because…
  • Not eating is NOT going to help your body not get sick, and if you DO get sick it is going to make it harder for your body to overcome it. You are shooting yourself in the foot here. Eat up! And STAY HYDRATED. Your body's natural defense for sickness is to "flush it out" and the more liquid (water, preferably) you have in…
  • The default settings on MFP for protien are pretty low. I would ask my doctor if I were you since you have a particular health situation, but lots of people suggest changing it to 40% carbs, 30% protien, 30% fats. (My Home > Goals > Change Goals > Custom) And yeah, you have a sedentary lifestyle...just like every one else.…
  • oil popped is 28 cals per half cup. thought it was less than that. :(
  • Slight day to day fluctations in your weight are normal, has alot to do with water retention. I deal with it by expecting them based on how dehydrated I feel when I wake up, and by realizing it is the trend over time (weeks) that counts, not the day to day. However, if you are CHEATING and not staying under your goal some…
  • Uhm, I like to weight myself every day so I can track my progress. But I no means "worship" it or let a gain or loss dictate how I feel about myself and ruin my day, especially since there are so many things beyond your control that could make small changes to your weight. That mentality cannot be healthy. Good luck!…
  • the FT4.
  • You can't lose more than a pound or so (two if you are very overweight) in a week heathily. Weight loss is a lifestyle change. Not something you do for an event. MAN UP.
