Me too! When I feel the need to binge, it's not because I am being restrictive with my calories or food choices. It's my method for coping with stress in my life. Obviously I need to work on different coping techniques, but until then I do the same and binge on healthier foods. My last binge consisted of beef jerky, a bowl…

Wow! 40 looks gorgeous on you! You look more vibrant and youthful now than you did 14 years ago. Congratulations! :)

Bump for later

That 4-0 on my horizon isn't looking so scary now! Thanks! :)

I think it would depend a lot on the individual. Is she even interested in wearing make-up? I know I never was until college. If she asks to wear it at an age that you feel is too young, maybe set some guidelines like she's allowed to experiment with it on weekends at home but not at school; or she can wear lip gloss but…

I just finished The Magicians and The Magician King both by Lev Grossman. Couldn't put either one down!

At 5:30 every morning my bright-eyed toddler puts his smiling face right up to mine and says "Hi". Works like a charm to get me up and going. It's impossible to be grumpy when that's the wake-up call you get :)

^^^ Exactly what I was thinking.

Did you read the post from the parent of a 9 year old "chubby" girl who plays soccer and does hapkido, eats healthfully and still gets picked on at school for being "fat"? Sounds healthy to me!

[/quote]If you really want a REASONABLY healthy diet and are living in poverty it CAN be done, and it's not all that hard. Canned vegetables are cheap, as are many in-season fresh vegetables, which I am aware are not available cheaply in all areas. Rice is cheap, potatoes are cheap, beans are cheap, whole chickens are…

I agree! If you're going to teach children about healthy lifestyle choices, don't vilify them by making the "bad guys" fat and the "good guys" thin.

I don't think it's so much a campaign to get America to "accept fat", but to get America to realize that fat people are human too and as such deserve to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of whether they are able or willing to 'get off their butts more'. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the organization's intentions…

The same reason every other advocate organization exists: to help defend the rights and end the persecution of a group of people. From what I understand about the group, they are promoting a healthy self-image at any size and work to ensure people who are fat are not discriminated against.

I agree that living in poverty does not automatically equal crap food and obesity. But I don't agree that it is a "lame" excuse either. As someone who has experienced poverty first-hand, I am surprised you have such a harsh opinion of people who don't have the same resources as those who live above the poverty level.…

Have you ever lived in poverty? With a single parent who has to work two jobs to make ends meet and rarely has time to grocery shop, let alone cook healthy meals? In a dangerous neighborhood where playing outside means taking a huge risk with your safety? Do you understand that adults living in poverty situations are…

Actually lots of people are saying they should be judged and shamed for it.
-
Lots of children who live in poverty, live in dangerous neighborhoods where it is unsafe to go outside and play.

"- it's not fat vs skinny. It's fat vs healthy." Jeezus! It shouldn't be a "versus" issue at all! Why would we want to teach kids to look at the world with an Us vs Them mentality?! Reading through the posts, the lack of compassion and tolerance is astounding! I cannot believe people are against the acceptance of fat…

Anyone else try the Yasso brand greek frozen yogurt pops? Just got a box of Strawberry and Blueberry flavor at Costco last week. Each pop is pretty big in size, only 70 calories, and really creamy and delicious.

Oh man - it is SO hard when you're not able to get enough rest! I feel you. The husband and I are up by 5am with our 15 month old who doesn't sleep well to begin with and is up several times a night. We drop him off at daycare at 7am - go to work, pick him up at 5:30 pm. Rush home to dinner and then playtime with our son…

Thanks for the inspiration - you look great!

Same here! I have an energetic 15 month old who I'm trying to keep up with :) Just joined this site recently in the hopes of losing the baby weight (and also some pre-baby weight! oh and also some post-baby weight! a lot of unnecessary weight is what I'm saying!) Feel free to add me as a friend :)
