limiting the alcohol and the food in the house so I cant over do it is what I tend to do. But then again I don't keep much food in the house anyway and the stuff I do keep isn't the kind of things for snacking on (chicken breast, ground turkey...) I try to limit the snack type food or the food that is easy to just eat a…

sounds great and I LOVE quiche. What are the counts for a serving size (cals/fat/sodium/sugar...), if known??????

not having to worry about the dreaded "tape test" for body fat for hte military. My entire career (10+ yrs so far) I have had to be taped for body fat because I was over the screening table weight for my height. Just once I would like to not have to be taped (but I would settle for not being close to my max on body fat…

my boyfriend is like this, but he is 44 (5'6" adn 155, has been since 25). He can eat a 20 ounce steak and drink a 6 pack of beer and LOSE weight, all I have to do is think of eating it and I gain weight. But he is supportive of me (most of the time) and will change how he cooks (most of the time) to assist me in my goals…

if you've never done any lifting/real work outs, DO NOT try to start heavy right away. Take the advise of @tpncc and learn from others and find what you like before spending a lot of money. If there is no gym near you, then maybe just a few semi-light dumb bells or maybe a weighted vest to do squats and weighted push-ups…

while I never heard those exact type of words from my mother, when I was going thru old clothes left at my parnets house when I returned from deployment and had moved into my own home some years ago, she did make the comment to me of "maybe you should throw/give away all your bigger clothes, you may need them again". Way…

I don’t have as much to lose as you (I’m hoping to lose about 30 lbs), but I know what you feel like with having “no one” to workout with (I am currently deployed so my fiancé is who I normally work out with when home, but he’s not here). I had been working out with a civilian co-worker who is deployed with me, but she has…

... I try to imporve my weight each time I go to my cross fit class.

I’m in the same type of boat here. I eat well (considering that I am deployed and have very limited fresh fruit and veggies and have to rely upon someone else making my meals), I try to stick to lean chicken breast and things like that. I do Cross Fit 3 times a week and run 2-3 times a week. Yet every week when I get on…

i have checked multiple websites for calorie burning on various exercises, MPF has usually been pretty close to what other sites give me. Check out this website, it seems to be fairly accurate since its based on YOUR weight. http://whatscookingamerica.net/Information/CalorieBurnChart.htm

I do that at times, but its usually in conjuction with planning out my menu for the week so I know what I need to but at the store. I try not to put in what I eat prior to eating it to prevent having to adjust it when I eat more than I listed :/

I've recently fallen for hte chex mix 1.75 oz bags that we get in care packages sent to us Soldiers while deployed. They are 210 cals for the bag, but are filling.

I fall into the "trap" of not wanting to get passed myself, but I also realize that I'm not the fastest out there and some people will pass me at some point. I try to go and just do a run to run and get the exercise, but usually wind up looking at my watch and say "hey, I can do XX miles in XX:XX time..." and instead of a…

I vary. I go between the Whey Protien (Wal Mart or Target, 5lb for about $12), Lean Body for Her (co-worker bought it on Amazon, $36 20 pack single servings) and currently since I am deployed, I can get Met-Rx single serve for free in the Chow Hall I'm assigned to and nothing is better than free. (they usually run about…

I'm going to agree here, I'm 5'6" to 5'6.5". I'm obviously on here to lose some weight, my goal is to get to 150 lbs. According to the Army I'm supposed to be 158 for 66" or 163 for 66.5". I've got a little bit of work cut out for me to ge tthere, my lowest was about 20 months ago when I was about 168, but then I came off…

I wear my weight vest for ruck marches in addition to my ruck/weighted backpack. I dont count the weight for logging my exercise, I just log the pace and time. Using the vest for lower body workouts i.e. squats, lunges, is a good idea as well. Just dont run with it, your (our) knees get beat up enough as it is in the…

your not eating enough, right now your weight loss is from water weight. dont starve your self. eat close to your allowed amount, its already accounting for losing the smount of weight you want in a week. eating too many cals less then what they suggest acutally hinders you progress in the long run.

I usually under estimate what activity I do while over estimate the food, this way I can be sure that I'm not eating too much or not exercising enough (I eat less then I report and burn more then I report). My base amount of cals is 1440 and whatever I burn is then added on top of that to up the allowed amount. Its better…
