I love handstands and headstands. The handstands basically require a wall most of the time, but I still love practicing them. Any arm balances really - even if I'm not good at them, I have a great time working on them. I love half moon and dancer. Used to hate pigeon but now I love it. I really don't have many poses that I…

Exactly. If you're used to milk chocolate, really dark chocolate won't taste good at first. But if you get used to everything not being jam packed with sugar, and learn to appreciate the actual chocolate - it's amazingly good!!

Tasty and healthy are definitely NOT mutually exclusive. Keep experimenting with different veggies and healthy recipes. And get your taste buds used to unsweetened foods again (or for the first time). It's amazing how it changes. If you've been eating foods engineered to basically be addictive, you've got to get used to…

I had a One and now use a Flex instead. The one has an altimeter too so it tells you how many flights of stairs you climbed. But I kept forgetting to transfer it from one outfit to the other and would get to work and realize it was on my workout clothes, etc. The Flex is a bracelet, which you can shower/sleep/etc. in so…

First - there are a million different kinds of yoga classes. If we're talking restorative super relaxing style classes - yeah. I have to be in the right mood for that and I'd generally prefer boxing (or mountain biking or most anything else more active.) But other styles of yoga - even when they are very slow but you're…

A lot of the more challenging classes that I go to are at least 1/3 men. It's not unusual at all.

I'm pretty similar -went from a 14/16 to an 8/10 and have several dresses and pants now that are a size 6. Every time I pull those out, I'm like "there is just no way..." but they fit perfectly. I still am almost startled when I see my reflection sometimes and it's only 30lbs. Kind of crazy.

The first thing that drew my eye in your new pic is that your arms now look great! But you can tell a difference everywhere. Don't be discouraged - you're doing great!

My wrists aren't equal, but the bigger one puts it at 149-170lbs. I'm at 173 and my goal is around 167, so that makes sense. With the smaller wrist it comes out to 139-153. I don't think I want to be that thin.

I can't imagine what there is to criticize in your post! I don't think anyone can really imagine how they would really react to a diagnosis like that unless they are experiencing it. There's no "normal" - whatever you are feeling now just IS. All I can say is that I wish you all the best in healing. Talk to your doctors…

I also recommend keeping a few things for reference/sentimental value. I have a blue velvet and sequin dress that I wore to a formals in college - I can't imagine wearing it out anywhere, but it's fun to have just so I can try it on and see that I'm smaller now than I was in college. I wouldn't use it as an excuse to keep…

I agree that there are plenty of people out there (I've done it myself in the past) who rationalize being overweight. But I think the bottom line is that if you don't want to change, you can come up with a million reasons not to change. It doesn't matter what a BMI chart says or what other people look like or anything…

I'm still 8 pounds into "overweight" on a BMI chart in my profile pic.

I've been averaging somewhere around 35/25/40 (carbs/protein/fat). And about 70g a day of fiber from fruits and veggies - so almost half of my carbs are fiber. I don't eat any unhealthy fats - it's all coconut and olive oil, nuts, avocados, pretty lean meats and eggs. I'm actually getting a blood test done again next week…

I actually just got off the phone with my doctor and he recommended that I eat more sea salt as well. I'd been having some low blood pressure issues and I don't eat really any processed food, so unless I add it to my food, I'm getting about 1000mg or less a day, which apparently isn't enough to keep me from feeling dizzy…

Yet it is a scientific fact that you do not need to eat carbs to create that glucose in your body. I'm not saying that you shouldn't eat any carbs - I eat plenty in the form of fruits and vegetables, personally. But the fact is that they are not necessary for survival, even in the very long term. I have found personally…

Nice work!! And that's exactly why it varies so much! :) Not to mention - I was just comparing notes with a friend who is an elite athlete (one spot away from being on an Olympic team). We're the same height and I'm now about 10lbs heavier than she is. But her thighs are an inch bigger than mine due to all the really heavy…

First - seek professional help with this and not surgery. Second - you can't control what food your spouse or anyone else places around you. I used to be frustrated by this as well - my husband would bring home oreos and chips and ice cream and I would say that I "couldn't resist". I blamed him and not myself and kept…

Saves you money on clothes at least! :) I've been frustrated the other way where I've had skinny pants I was just dying to get back into. They fit for seriously like a week or two and now they're too big. I definitely need to wait until everything stabilizes before buying anything new that I really love (or at least that I…

Clearly this depends on the size chart of the manufacturer, but in general: At 200 I was about a 14/16, and now at 172 I'm in a variety of 6/8/10's. The slim fit size 8 pants I'm wearing today are feeling pretty loose today - about an inch of extra space. Looking back at my measurements vs. weight - my hips have been…

I've found that cycling calories helps with that. Meaning you eat higher amounts of calories about every 3 days. Basically it keeps your body guessing and prevents it from adapting to the low calorie totals you're eating on most days. And then the same kind of thing for your workouts. If you do the same thing over and over…

I've given it up completely for almost 3 months now. I like the taste of it, and wasn't really getting drunk that often, but even without drinking too much - often just a glass or two of wine would give me a headache. And eventually I was like "what I'm I doing this to myself for anyway?" I was a little worried when I was…

Same deal with knee replacements for me - A few years ago I was told I need them on both knees, but I'm only 39 now. So that's a ways off and I've figured out how to manage it well enough that I plan on holding out for a long time now - they feel so much better now than they did about 2-3 years ago.
-
I love it!

Biking and yoga is the combo that keeps my knees functioning. I've had 5 knee surgeries - both ACLs and various meniscus repairs/cleanups, and am mostly bone on bone on the medial sides. The other part of it for me was a surprise. My doctors always told me that the swelling/pain I got in my knees was just to be expected…

I'd rather have none at all, personally.

Drinking plenty of water should make a huge difference for you. If you know you are dehydrated, that is bound to make everything worse. So I'd start with that for sure. Carry a water bottle through the day and drink before you get thirsty and see if it makes a difference for you. Also, many people mistake thirst for hunger…

Only water - sometimes with lemon or lime juice, occasionally with a splash of unsweetened tart cherry juice. And sometimes I'll have caffeine free herbal tea. I will make blended smoothies once in a while - water, kale, cilantro, pineapple, lime. But then you're getting the fiber and everything from the veggies in there,…

Thank you for sharing! I definitely need to work on developing a home practice. I'm great about going to classes, but left to my own devices, my practice is very inconsistent.

Congrats! Looks beautiful!
