If I'm not sure of how much of something I am putting in my body, I definitely weigh. I want to know these factors that I can control and the results it has on my body.

I am striving to be NORMAL! I don't need a six pack, but perhaps it will happen on my journey.

Thank you. We cannot underestimate the power of belief.

I have manually over-ridden the MFP calorie goal to be based on my being lightly active (set at 1750 cals). So I eat the same calories every day unless I do extra exercises on top of the ones considered in my lightly active assessment. If I do extra exercises, I log those in MFP and eat back some exercise cals, sometimes I…

If you want to get serious about losing weight, you should consider purchasing a heart rate monitor. For most people, I believe it`s possible to do without, but you are looking to lose 2 lbs a week. You will need lots of focus and dedication. You need to know what your body burns so you can figure out how much you can eat.…

Have you read any of the posts about increasing calories to lose weight? It could be that your body has plateaued at the 1200 calorie level and you may want to try increasing your cals a bit. Often it`s the change that gets the weight falling off again. For example, I was eating at 1250 cals and lost some weight initially…

Yes, I eat back my exercise cals mostly. But not always, it depends on how hungry I am that day. I always aim to eat to my calorie goal each day, and if I exercise I try to get closer to my calorie goal, but is okay if you don`t quite make it. Like if you are short 50 to 150 calories on days that you work out I think that…

I love all of this positivism! Well done to each of you getting on here to make good changes in your lives. You are going the mile and succeeding at it. Let the negative naysayers slide off your shoulders and keep focussed on you!

Great work! It seems so innocent a change, but those are meaningful results. Very inspirational - especially to us chocoholics!

I had stalled after losing quickly initially when my cals were set to 1200 per day. I have upped my calories to 1750 per day and the weight has begun falling off again, 1-2 pounds per week.

MFP tells you how many calories to eat in a day based on your activity level which you entered in your goals. Problem is, if you exercise, you are burning more cals, so the idea is that you should be eating back the calories you burned while exercising. This way your NET calories (calories eaten less calories burned…

Hi Annie It's a workout DVD published by Jillian Michaels. The idea is you do this workout each day for 30 days. It's about 25 minutes in length. You can purchase on amazon.com or at other retailers (Zellers, Wal-Mart, etc) Jessica Edited to add name

Hi Maria My name is Jessica. I am also a new mom (well, mom of three boys, but the youngest is 5 months). I am still breastfeeding exclusively so I am on the same page as you for diets and exercise. Also, I have a blog at jessicapeaches.blogspot.com which is chronicling my weight loss journey, day by day. Feel free to give…

That's right. If you find that you start to stall, it may be because you have too few cals. At that point, up the cals a couple of hundred and weight should come off again. I know I'm a girl, but the basics are the same, and it happened for me at 1200 cals I lost quick at the beginning, then have had to increase to 1700.…

Wow. YOU CAN DO THIS! You can lose the weight if you put in the work. I agree with previous posters that it will be hard work and it needs to be done through exercise and healthy eating, not starving. Protein shakes may be good. I would say you need to do daily exercise, at least 30 mins of which should be intense weights…

You are amazing. You are an inspiration. Looking sharp! Thanks for telling us about your journey, we need to hear these to remind each other why we are here.

Hi Kirstin, food is quite often the hardest part. I think you will find MFP's food tracker is an invaluable tool for tracking what you are eating. You will find lots of resources here, and if you are ever uncertain or hitting a roadblock, just search the forums, or post one of your own. Welcome to the team! Feel free to…

Here you are expected to eat back your exercise cals so that your net calories equal 1200. This is because MFP has already provided a deficit for weight loss.

I would say keep your bingeing to one day rather than the weekend and don't make up for it. Keep the rest of your week at your targets. If you're doing this you shouldn't be damaging your efforts.

25% is an aggressive calorie reduction, you may want to try this for a few weeks, and you can always adjust to 20% reduction if needed. Basically YES based on this you should be eating 2028 calories and this includes your exercise cals (they were taken into consideration when you chose your activity level). If you are…

Hi Jenn You definitely want to keep above your BMR. I would suggest trying a few sites to get more information on your BMR and activity levels. With more info, it is easier to make a decision. First I would recommend visiting Fat2Fitradio.com. They have tools to estimate your body fat percent (which is a great indicator to…

I feel so much better since increasing my cals for a slower weight loss. I'm losing 1, sometimes 2, pounds per week, so I am satisfied. Way better than stopping at 1200!
-
I agree. That is what I do. Anything over and above what is regular for me and the activity level I signed up for.
-
ha! That's wonderful!!! It's great when the results go beyond the numbers, well done!
-
You must have had great focus, you look superb, and in 7 weeks too! Good job! Sorry, I meant GREAT JOB!!
-
What I think is amazing, is that your results after P90x were fabulous, and I thought there's no way to improve on that. But then you did!! Crazy amazing, love your commitment and well done!
-
That is success at it's finest, a job well done. You kept it simple, amazing job!
-
You look amazing!! The added muscle suits you and your body very well. Hard work shows. Very very nice!

Hi, my understanding is that it takes a couple of weeks to adjust your body. I would recommend you increase your daily calories to 1700 if you plan on working out 4-5 days a week. I KNOW that is scary, and you will most probably gain in the first few weeks, but I think it is what your body needs. I am talking about healthy…

You needed it, otherwise you wouldn't have done it. You are in control of this. Sleep easy and get ready for another day!
