You've gotta make something good to snack on just as easy to reach for. Cut up some veggies and put them in a plastic container in the fridge, reach for those instead and so forth.

Congrats! But don't spend too much now because that stuff won't fit you pretty soon!

I think it's really important that you set small attainable goals so that you stick to the game. Good luck!

I second the bloody mary when you want something fancy/salty. I try to stick to vodka club soda with lime and every other one without alcohol. I also for a single in a pint glass so it lasts longer.

A kitchen scale is a must. As you get used to seeing the size of things on it at home, you'll do better about logging at restaurants and stuff other people made, but avoid that stuff in the beginning. I also bring things when I go to a restaurant sometimes (yes totally goofy but I'll bring my own dressing and ask for my…

Sparkling water with no added sweeteners (artificial or otherwise). Tea. You can also throw some liquid stevia and lemon or lime juice in sparkling water for a very low calorie sparkling lemonade. And for alcohol, Try flavored sparkling water with some vodka and and fruit garnish.

Oh, and I think running on the treadmill is awful. When I have to go to the gym, I use the stairmaster or I walk/run on the treadmill at an incline. Interval workouts are the best if you have to go to the gym... it's not like we're on a flat track when we run outside!

I just returned to running too (after a foot injury). I went to the "running store" and had them help me with shoes, which I WILL replace completely in probably 3 or 4 months (but now that I know what to get, I'll buy cheaper online). I also got a heart rate monitor so I can make sure I'm keeping a good pace but not…

Plus I think a lot of women think that if they do anything relating to "strength training" they will gain. I know this isnt' true. The more strength training I do, the less I weigh. It is so important to be strong. Thanks for reminding all of us.

This is an awesome post. I copied everything (almost) to my favorites. I have been trying to get my cardio and lifting in at the same time and there are some good tips for that here. Thank you! I will consider a lot of this during my kettlebell/handweight workout tomorrow.

Dried fruit and nuts. Cream your coffee. Jam on toast. Jam on yogurt. Start snacking. Consider drinking calories. You'll find your own way. We all heal in different ways.

Instead of setting one big goal like "I'm going to lose 45 pounds" set a million tiny goals like "I'm going to lose a pound this week" or "I'm going to be under my calorie goal today" or "I'm going to work out for two hours today." You'll feel like you are accomplishing something instead of just thinking about how far away…

Ugh... I just realized I did this totally lame rhyming thing so I'll continue with it... And if they are for real, you're in for a raw deal... Either way... a situation left better off to your HR department Okay... that last part didn't rhyme but I'm tired!

I think your mistake is that you assume the tears are fake. I HOPE SO, FOR YOUR SAKE!

It is cheaper to eat healthy... IF YOU CAN COOK! if you do not cook... IT IS NOT CHEAPER TO EAT HEALTHY.

Oh, and figure out what the things are that the whole family can agree on and buy them in bulk. I cannot stress enough the importance of soup for this situation. Make a huge pot on your day off. When people are sick of it, you can freeze the leftovers for when they like the taste again. Oatmeal is very inexpensive when…

Look for a community garden to grow food in (if there isn't one harrass your city hall to start one, they will). Buy a pressure cooker, even from Goodwill (allows you to quickly cook dried beans and grains). Always freeze extra veggies when you have them to use later for soup stock. If you have land, try a kitchen garden.…

Yes, true. Either way you will make her day.

I say do it but it wouldn't hurt to ask around first to make sure she's single. It would also be great if you could catch her in the parking lot pre-workout. I hate talking to people at the gym while I wipe my face with a towel. Post shower is good too.

You will need a well-seasoned cast iron skillet to make one without oil. Beat two eggs, add them, cover. When the top is like half-way done Jello, flip. Put your fillings on the top, cook the bottom. Fold.

Great post! I'm definately going to share.

It sounds like you are ready to take this on again. Vacation is tough. Good job at work. Isn't there something you can do about the food situation at home?

I don't think the belly thing is disgusting, be proud! Mine is that I biked to work today (18 miles).
-
You can do it. Feel free to add me. I'm 5'4", currently 156 (down from 180) with a goal weight of 135-140 (I'm very muscular so I'll decide on the weight when I get there). I'm on every day (unless I'm backpacking in the wilderness).
-
I do this, too. I can't say I've taken all this advice, but here is what others have told me (I save my calories for the evening and then tend to shove whatever is closest into my mouth). Eat a large breakfast. Have a drawer of healthy snacks at work - the kind you can shove into your face in the elevator on the way to a…

Just stick with it. Even if you don't have the answer yet, you'll probably never know if you give up now! I want to give up almost every day, but then I look in my closet and there is some stuff I'd like to wear again. That's my motivation. What's yours?

MFP makes us have a goal weight... but the real goal isn't the weight, it's having the body that we want to have. Maybe it's being able to fit into any pair of size whatever jeans, maybe it's a certain percentage of body fat, or maybe you want your waist to be however many inches smaller than your hips. Weight is great,…

I think if you feel good that's the ticket. These people can just get used to it!

Leave the house. Go to a park. One that doesn't have food. Skip stones on the lake/ocean/river Pet a dog Get a dog, and take it for a walk Try on some clothes that you really want to fit in again, or shop for ones you'll buy when you meet your goal Phone a friend Prepare for the coming zombie apocolypse Oh, and this thing…
