Hi all! I just purchased a Magic Bullet a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE it! It's true that it only takes a minute or so to whip up a yummy smoothie or protein shake. That darned thing gets used at least 4-5 times a day in my house (hubby and I like the protein shakes! Hubby also likes to make other kinds of shakes with…

That is wonderful!!! Isn't it great when you see fitness as fun and a great way to challenge and improve yourself? The loss of weight is just an added bonus, as I see it!!! :flowerforyou: Cheers! :drinker:

You are truly awesome, Jenna! Way to go for getting up and doing it even though your motivation wasn't there! Next time I'm in a motivational slump, I'll think about this and I'm sure it'll get me through!!! Cheers! :drinker:

Hi AuntMeredith- Just a silly question, but I was wondering if perhaps you're sleeping okay. As in, do you perhaps have sleep apnea? From what I understand, sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure, too. I can COMPLETELY understand your aversion to exercise--especially since you mentioned PE. I absolutely HATED PE when I…

Hi cpafford79! 2.7 miles in 40 minutes is 4.05 mph. Way to go!!! :flowerforyou: This is how I figured it out: 2.7 miles / 40 minutes = 0.0675 miles/min (0.0675 miles/minute) * (60 minutes/hour) = 4.05 miles/hour. Hope this helps!!! Cheers! :drinker:

Hey Frank, don't feel bad. :flowerforyou: I'm a crazy bizarre woman who gets a kick out of trying to out-do the runners on the track! I think that your average walk speeds are awesome! I was doing about 4 - 4.5 mph not too long ago--it actually surprises me how quickly my speed is improving. :blushing: You should…

What about a few jumping jacks here and there throughout the day?

Welcome, gapeaches! The next thing that you do is you walk tonight or tomorrow night. Pretty simple, eh? Or you could challenge yourself with the one hundred pushups challenge (www.onehundredpushups.com) or the two hundred squats challenge (www.twohundredsquats.com)--both of which Cindy (as in Cindysunshine)…

...maybe part of the reason that eggs became so "bad for you" was that people were eating them after they'd been fried to death in bacon grease and topped with a pound of cheese?

It's more of a stir-fry kind of thing. Do the onions and cabbage first, and then when it gets mostly to the consistency you want it (whether somewhat crispy yet or a bit mushy), add the sauerkraut. You could also add some caraway seeds, too. Mmm. As far as ratios go, I'd do about 1/2 cabbage & 1/2 sauerkraut (I'm 100%…

Try cooking shredded cabbage with onions & sauerkraut!! Yum, yum, yummy! My sister makes that to go with her pork chops (unfortunately, I can't eat pork anymore--makes me sick), but when I did eat it, it was SOOO good! ...btw, I had some sauerkraut last night!

My "girls" are really out there--I'm a DDD if I'm anything! But I have found good bras out there that keep 'em reined in (pun intended!) Check out some of the online lingerie stores (I'm not talking Frederick's of Hollywood here!). Try www.figleaves.com and www.herroom.com--those are two places from which I've…

Aww... They are pretty cute. Is the one laying down because you walked it so hard and it has to recuperate? That's how I felt after walking my 3 on Saturday! I can see from the pics that your pups are quite the high energy guys! They'll have you down a size or two in no time. I will suggest that, if you have…

Welcome!! We'd love to have you!!! ...I ended up going on FOUR dog walks yesterday! We have 3 dogs, so I took 2 of them in the morning for their morning walk and each one individually for their afternoon walk. In addition to my 5K "race" yesterday! Was I too pooped to pop or what??? The great benefit of walking with your…

Hi All- I decided to do a 5K "race" today (that is, me walking around the track for 3.1 miles as if I was racing) and my new best 5K walking time is 33 minutes, 54 seconds!!! Woo-Hoo!!! I'm so excited! And I just did the math right now and figured it out to an average speed of just under 5.5 mph! I think I'm going to work…

Hey all! arewethereyet posted on another thread (just minutes ago!!!) that there's a webpage called mapyourrun.com in which you can map your route and get the distance!!! I haven't looked at it yet, but I thought I'd pass it along! Cheers, :drinker: Deborah

Welcome lynnie!!! :flowerforyou: Cheers, :drinker: Deborah

Yeah, Cindy, this push-up thing is AWESOME! I haven't done the squats yet--I just saw you post on that recently, so I'll have to check it out. Well, the reason I'm NOT on week 2 is that my Marine DH irritated me so much for the first time I tried to do week 1 that I had to wait a week. This man is so fit (he's on…

The amount of calories burned is based on your intensity. Intensity is best measured by a heart rate monitor, but, failing that, you can go by speed (i.e., how fast you were walking). If you were walking on a track, it's easy to figure an average speed and then enter it into the MFP log based on the generic info they have…

...but I LOVE their veggie delight salad with all the veggies and no dressing!!! It's awesome! Don't get the croutons and have them sprinkle the oregano spices on it! Mmmm. Makes me want one right now. That salad can't be THAT bad for you, can it??
-
Hi Cindy, I started doing the hundred pushups this week, too. I know that you're probably farther along than I am, but I swear it is SO hard for me!!! I have hubby help me out (he's a former Marine and will only count the ones that are correct). However, I couldn't even do one real pushup, so I'm working on the…

I make my steel cut oats in the rice cooker--I have a Black & Decker steamer/rice cooker with a plastic rice bowl. Anyway, I make up 4 servings at a time (I use the settings for long grain white rice and the ratios -- oats/water -- for long grain white rice), I eat one serving and then put the others in containers for…

...or you could quit cleaning altogether!!!!     I'm so glad you found out what was causing your hives!!! AND you didn't have to pay oodles of money for a doctor visit! Yay! I am SO happy for you! Cheers, :drinker: Deborah

I second tiff1632 in regards to protein. You may want to also check out some protein powders that are out there and he can have double-scoop smoothies while you have single-scoop smoothies. Of course, I'm new to protein powders myself, so I'm sure that someone much more knowledgeable about the loss & gain thing will be…
