Is 70-75% of 5RM too high for a deload week? Note: the 5RM is not a tested 5RM, but the "weekly" scheduled 5RM for each lift.

You'll get past it; how's your form?

I like this guy.

how critical is it to drag the bar up the shins during a deadlift? When i set up like that, i tend to experience back rounding.

2x3x350, 1st time; here's the first set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnjNZIUPX4k

Deadlifted 3 plates, 1x5 followed by 1x3. 1st time evah. I had a video but i was... multitasking... and it came out crappy.

I got my plates from my brother in law's garage, my bar from craigslist, and built/bought the equipment you see in my profile pic for about $200-250. The plans for the equipment are at http://homemadestrength.blogspot.com/2011/04/more-than-just-squat-stands.html…

In order to better manage my time, I try to work out in the morning. But I struggle with these workouts; never mind the getting out of bed part, which is hit or miss, but as the bar gets heavier, it feels harder than it should to do some of the lifts. I know sleep is important, so I try to get at least 8 hours but…

Really? No sugar in the Air Force? I thought you guys got an ice cream cone after every meal before going back to the barracks for pillow fights and slumber parties? Full disclosure... this is a case of interservice rivalry. I was in the Navy on submarines. My cousin spent 20+ yrs USAF and i give him shite too ;) Now, so i…

Them socks BRO!

I got a pair of flat-soled canvas topsider knock-offs at a discount store for $8. Used only for lifting (my basement floor is cold!). Sorry i don't have an eight-dollar solution for the oly platform!

Good stuff guys. I am learning a lot and reading about MC/Bill Starr more too. Looks like i will just keep going for a while!

Thanks guys for the advice!

Interesting. Questions: 1) Based on the numbers in the attached image – taken from my Madcow spreadsheet – if I went with your Option B (full body light/heavy alternation), what would be my starting heavy/light weights for each lift? 2) Also, for Option B, How much load would I add per week? Something standard like 10lb…

WOW. I crumbled yesterday on the fifth of 315x5. Fortunately I took a rest, reset everything, and pumped it out. Can't even imagine 400+.

Couldn't have done it without you lot ;)

3 plate squat today, 1x3. Yeehah. (1st evah)

thanks!

I spit out my lunch and i wasnt even eating any.

Thanks! I am going to use #1. Would you please clarify something for me? You start the exercise with elbows bent 90 degrees... upper arms parallel to floor and weights towards ceiling - does this mean the weights are sort of at the level of the top of your head? Then the next move... " twist arms forward until upper arms…

Are any of you guys using straps or hooks for the DL?
-
Stuck at one weight for a whole year? That must be maddening.

it's good to know there are so many things i can try! what kind of shoulder-joint stability exercises? Thanks!
-
I just got a belt! Still fiddling with the proper fit, but I like using it. BTW forgot to address one question above... other lifts are progressing well, although i find myself having to concentrate more on the deadlifts so my form doesn't crack up. Just hit a milestone on my squats too... 300#. Feelin' pretty good about…

@TR0berts thanks for your advice. The video is great. Should help a lot... and i will also probably add those assistance lifts too. TG

@Hendrix7 thanks! I will watch this over the weekend!

Doing Madcow using the spreadsheet. Squat, Bench, Row, DL, OHP. OHP is Wednesday after the squat and before the DL. Was considering making the OHP first to see if that helps. Form... will have to check. I will try to post a video. I feel like it's OK... forearms start out vertical, head starts leaned back then moved…
