the same thing happens to me...and yeah they are called shin splints. For me it seems like i will get them bad and then if i take a few days off it seems to get much better...i do stretch everytime and i still get them..not always but enough to bother me. I find that if i run on the pavment track outside i am way more…

it really really should be under cardio...but i guess it depends on the couple...but if you do it 3-5 days a week and stick to it..both of you will see a difference=) Great for stress relief too

10.5 min miles is AWESOME..and 3 miles....WAY TO GO! I also started running about 2 months ago..i started out at 5 mins..at 4.5 on the treadmil...now i am at 5.5 for 33 mins..for 3 mins...i almost always want to stop at about 1.5 miles but i stick to it and it feels so good to finish...keep it up!!!!
