  • Responding to the bold - so what if I don't need or want interaction with someone else at the gym - on MY time. I have plenty of work to do before I'm anywhere near "perfect". Your forced interaction isn't going to bring any more quality to my life, let alone my workout. It would be different if I was sitting at a bar,…
  • Your question has already been answered, but to offer another testimony... I do cardio so I can drink more on Sunday Funday. I like running, but in winter doing cardio on a treadmill or other machine is mindnumbingly awful to me. The only time I actually enjoy cardio is when the weather is decent outside and I'm running.
  • my mom was an avid tennis player and sport enthusiast - she agrees that pizza is "healthy", as in nutritious. If my mom said it's ok.... it must be! Mother knows best. But, I love cereal, Cinnamon Life is my favorite - cereal is the best when you're hungover.
  • Just so you have another testimony - I lose weight from my fingers, knees, face, shoulders first. I wish you could spot lose. Keep up the good work!! Trust the process, stay true to it... it'll catch up.
  • Generally, a stress relief - but the more out of shape I am, the less relaxing it is for me. I love lifting when I'm angry. Something about moving heavy things mellows me.
  • "I'm considering walking at an incline for 30 minutes instead of jogging. I've only heard bad things about ellipticals and how they are a waste of your time (don't burn many calories). Honestly if it weren't for the horrible weather I wouldn't mind jogging outside....I used to rollerblade quite often in the warmer months.…
  • Love all of the meals I've had. My favorite snack - the pizza bits. Pop them in the oven - so good.
  • I hate working out after I eat. I always feel too full and sluggish. I think it's personal preference, tbh
  • Same - I eat the same lunch everyday, and the same 5-7 dinners on rotation. The less you have to think about what you're going to eat, the easier it is to not miss things you had to cut back on. Totally agree on flexible for change of plans - in the past, when I didn't allow that, I was derailed. OP - great points from…
  • Lol - fake news.
  • I've done IF - but not because it's a thing. I just prefer to eat majority of my calories at night. As many said, is it harder for you to limit calorie intake during the day or at night? I used to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner - but I really hated how small my dinner needed to be to maintain my deficit. I also love…
  • Tough question, probably less mash and more stuffing. I don't like candied yams, and I can live without green bean casserole. Turkey, stuffing, gravy - yep.
  • Last time I checked, it was not a matter of opinion that Baseball is a sport, NASCAR is a sport, curling, and so on. It's a classification that was given to those activities and are played as such and under the condition of being a sport. While you may not agree with TV, individuals, countries, some sponsors, and other…
  • Definitely not people being insecure. Rather pointing out a false statement and providing reasons as to why it's false.. But whatever floats your boat. If baseball isn't a sport - damn, what will America do. Oh wait, that's because it is. Oye.
  • I think this depends on your personality. I tend to think that certain personalities will choose working out in a group and certain ones will workout alone. I choose to workout alone. I like lifting alone, I like running alone, etc. I despise group fitness classes. First off, I'm uncoordinated as heck. 2nd, I don't enjoy…
  • Always. Especially, when the weather is less... acceptable. Whenever I start a run, the first mile I'm arguing with myself why I'm doing this instead of snuggling on the couch with my wiener dog under a fuzzy blanket. But I remind myself that I like whiskey and wine too much and could never live without. I also love food…
  • Disagree. Cardio is boring and for the calorie burn only, while lifting is for fun and entertainment! As for exercises, side lunges, side plank, single leg squat, planks, box jumps. Sometimes when I have extra energy or need something else to do I walk around and use a machine I've never used. That or I observe others in…
  • BMI is good enough for an estimate and applies and fits most. However, if I'm going to be charged more money for something, it better be an exact equation that holds every person under the same scrutiny. It also better account for people who are just outside of the ranges. I workout regularly, but I could stand to lose…
  • I've gone through many lulls like this. Finally, climbing out of my latest one. Motivation is a fleeting, fickle, thing. Habits are what keep you going, but if you've lost the habit - you gotta focus on your goals. Remind yourself of where you came from, how hard it was to get to the point you are, and what it will feel…
  • My thoughts, you don't need exercise to lose weight - obviously. However, I need it mentally to lose weight. It's easier for me to make healthier food choices, snack less, not have several after work drinks...etc with a workout under my belt for the day. Resulting in me having a decent deficit and still enjoying some foods…
  • I use to eat a simple salad and lean cuisine for lunch everyday. It was perfect and convenient. There are a lot of other good meal options out there too, but I like lean cuisine the best for taste. Depending how many calories you're looking to consume, Amy's has a lot of wonderful things too - usually higher in calories…
  • Yeah, you can use that feature. I found that it would pause when it shouldn't. If I changed stride or shook my arms out. I turned it off. It also didn't start for me right away, took about 5 seconds after I started running before it would kick on again. Not worth the hassle if you're running at pace.
  • I am a runner and have the vivoactive HR. I loved it at first, but now I don't. It's underwhelming. I had an older version of the forerunner, which I loved, I just hated the hr monitor. The VA HR is great if you are novice looking for pace/distance/time. It's small and hard to see if you're tired. I've also had issues of…
  • I enjoy drinking. I previously cut out alcohol during the week. On the weekends, I made sure to do more cardio to allow for the added intake. I am not one to eat more when I drink, but the meals I picked, I just pick the healthiest I can and log as I go. It helped. And I rarely went over my calories that way. Now, I've…
  • Because... the internet? That's the beauty of the internet and people with differing opinions having access to a forum. It allows for interesting and thoughtful commentaries. And IMHO, provides lots of different perspectives that we can agree or disagree with, but still appreciate the rhetoric that follows.
  • I hate kale. Now that I've established that... haha Foods I can eat everyday: Mixed Greens Lighthouse Jalapeno Ranch Mushrooms stir fry (chicken, broccoli, carrots, stir fry sauce) Spicy chicken sandwich Cheez it's Eggs Bread Cookies French Fries Mozz. Sticks And on ... and on...
  • Yes, and everyone has different interpretation and levels of tolerance. It's nearly impossible to not offend someone these days.
  • Um, everyone TIMEOUT ... can we take a second to notice the new icon?! WOO! How fantastic! Thanks fitnesspal!!!
  • Same thoughts. The new water bottle that lights up and "reminds" you to drink, is just ridiculous to me. But kudos to those people for creating it as they are likely laughing their way to the bank right now.
  • My friend was taking the pill and got pregnant. She's also now pregnant with her 2nd 7/8 months after her first. Outliers always exist. haha
