Hi pebbles. Sorry I haven't checked in this week - I think I've still been recovering from all the stress of last week. It ended up being a much rougher time than we were hoping. I spent a couple of nights at the hospital while my dad was in ICU, so my sleep schedule got a bit out of whack. And then I went right back to…

Yes! They finally released him to a regular private room today. It's still a long recovery road, but we are happy to be out of there (with all the noise, lights, wires & tubes, etc.). He also is sounding much more like himself, which is wonderful. I've been peeking in now and then, but haven't had a lot of time or…

Dad is still in the ICU for now, but hopefully stabilizing - keep your good thoughts coming, all. Thanks so much.

Just a quick post here. I'm in Cleveland. The hotel has a pretty nice fitness room and pool, so I may get a couple of workouts in - we'll see how things go. I'll try to post tomorrow night if I get a chance. I'm going to skip the pushups for a few days. Hope you all have a good week. Positive thoughts, boogaloo.

Happy Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year, all. I am heading to the gym to try out some of my new socks and see how my toe does now that the old nail came off. (Sorry - it's actually not too gross because there was some hard nail-like substance underneath, it's just not as thick as the regular nail yet.) I would like to…

Thanks, all. As of now, my dad's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, so I'll probably be driving to Cleveland on Monday (after spending the morning with my husband, who gets the day off). I'll keep you posted. Work was fine. They just announced an early retirement package, so hopefully that will prevent any…

Good morning, pebbles. Today is my last day at work for a week or so. Trying to stay calm about the reason, and also think of something nice to do for Valentine's day. I did my pushups last night after Zumba, and don't currently have anything else planned other than more pushups tomorrow. I am a little bummed that I didn't…

Welcome back, Bobbie! Sorry you had a rough day, V. And that's awesome about your shoes, Mary. I'm jealous of you barefoot people. I wore mostly Converse All-Stars, which have no support, for years before I started having problems. I have been going barefoot in dance class lately, though, and mostly my feet have been okay…

Hi l_slade - we are just a little group who post our fitness/eating goals for the day/week and check back in regularly to chat and report on how we're doing. SBF stands for "Stronger, Better, Faster", the "reboot" part was because a while back we decided we needed to reboot our goals, and we kept the SBF2: Reboot Boogaloo!…

Hi there - my understanding is that blood pressure tends to be higher in the mornings, and lower in the evenings. So you might want to start taking your readings at night as well, so you can compare those numbers. It might be that your average decreases even if your first-thing-in-the-morning reading doesn't. But as others…

I've read a little bit about barefoot running, and the Vibrams. I like the idea, but I'm not sure how to get there... I tend to have pain even walking around barefoot, and you may remember I injured my foot a year or so ago just by dancing barefoot. It felt like the bones spread out in a way they weren't supposed to.…

Stress headstand, huh? I like it. My mom used to do headstands a lot when I was growing up - she was convinced that they were good for her in a variety of ways. We probably need to play more with our younger kitty - our two cats have never gotten along since we adopted the younger one, and she tends to attack the older…

Thanks, all. I won't lie - it is kinda scary. But the clinic apparently does more of these procedures than anyone in the country, and they make it sound almost routine (and better than waiting until he's more symptomatic). So, yeah - I'm sure I'll post more about everything that week. I've definitely become more aware in…

Hope you have a great time, Bobbie! I am hoping to get some good trips in this year - I saved vacation from last year, and purchased some extra, too. But it also turned out that my dad is having heart surgery in two weeks, so I am taking some time for that as well. Once that is over, I will start other planning. My folks…

Hi Mary - I know you didn't ask me, but Niagara Falls is only 1.5 hours away from me, too. The best view is from the Canadian side, of course. Adults need a passport to get into Canada now, by the way, so make sure yours is current. There are lots of cheesy tourist things (like the wax museum) right around the…

Still feeling a bit down in the dumps from last week. Found out another person was let go who was on vacation last week. My main goals for this week are sticking with a "normal" routine despite my mood. This especially means not stress-eating, which I did too much of last week. I found myself in the break room…

OK - after overdoing it on Friday and taking a break yesterday, I was back at it this morning. I got up, went to the gym, and ran 5 miles! Two of my toes were just starting to get a little tender, but didn't blister, which is good progress considered I ran so far. I used my two-layer socks, and a blister prevention stick…

Hello friends. Happy birthday, Mary - I hope you're feeling better today. :flowerforyou: Glad you are doing well again, MM. The "arrrgh trainer" sounds tough, V! Ice is bad... though I actually think driving on it (very very slowly!) is a little easier than walking - you just can't brake, or turn.…

Well, heck. Today was a bit better, but just a bit. I was at work until 7 (missing Zumba), and the weather is pretty bad so I just came home instead of trying to hit the gym. I actually still have a lot of work left to do, so I don't think a workout is in the cards this evening. Doh. It's probably just as well that I…

Mary, here's an article for you: "When Chocolate and Chakras Collide" - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/27/dining/27yoga.html?emc=eta1 I haven't had a chance to read it yet - apparently some people are doing yoga classes that involve food? I also saw that it contained the phrase "yogier than thou," which made me laugh. I…

And, no - I promise I'm not a drunk. It's just been a really bad day.

Oh man, this day just keeps getting worse. I really just want to go home and start drinking. Maybe I can convince myself to do some DDR first. At least it's all work-related horribleness. That's a silver lining, right? P.S. Feel better, Mary.

Hello all. Bobbie, I had been wondering how things worked out with the new job - glad it's going well. Good job to everyone pushing through yesterday. I pushed through my dance class with the bad teacher (honestly! I am so glad I just have one more week with her :indifferent: ), and did my pushups, too. So, that's…

Hi Bobbie! Nice to see you around - and thanks for starting the thread for the week. Welcome back, MM and Mary. I have a tendency to stick out my booty in belly dance class - the traditional posture is more tucked unless you're doing specific moves. Oh well. I think I should probably start limiting my computer time, too -…

I'm having an unsettled day myself. I keep having these dreams and waking up anxious. The dreams are mostly about stupid things like missing a plane, but clearly I'm nervous about something. It could be work (there's talk of a "business transformation plan" coming soon), or, more likely, my dad having surgery scheduled in…

Hmm, the site is having issues today - let's see if I can actually get this posted. Zumba last night was awesome - all new songs since the last time I went, and much harder. I was sweating like crazy by the end, and my heart rate actually got up to 170 for a while, which is where it usually is when I run. Cool. One of the…

I'm so glad that everything went so well with "M", MM. That's so interesting about your dreams, too! And I'm glad you had fun at Zumba, V! I haven't been in a while - maybe I will try to go tomorrow. I'm a dancing fool. I know what you mean about the Jillian videos - the front side and back side ones in particular…

MM! Glad you made it and that things are good so far. Stay warm, and good luck tomorrow! Mary, that's so sad about the feral kitty. That does sound like a LOT of stuff - have a great time in Dallas! Niccole - way to "boogaloo" with us! Hope you had a good workout. Tough class tonight. We are learning choreography…

Arggh, I forgot to post yesterday. I had to go to the eye doctor and my eyes were killing me from all the drops and the dilation. I went to the belly dance class with the bad teacher, and it was a little better than the first time. She's still really bad at actual instruction, though - I've just given up on getting all the…

Made sense to me, Mary. And I agree - though I was having a conversation with a co-worker about not underselling yourself, it still seems worse to be over-confident and disappoint people (or yourself). I guess it's hard to have a totally accurate perception of yourself. Glad your feedback came back so positive, V! Good…
