Great post! I'm printing this and hanging it up on my mirror! :)

i have a digital and a dial scale - and they each give me different numbers. the difference is around 5 lbs.

today is my day 2 of week 2. so far, so good. :)

i get what you mean and i'm there with ya. i've introduced MFP to a few coworkers, and really, only one is sticking with it, which makes me feel like proud mama bear! but the others just stopped trying. one quit after one day...ONE DAY...because it was too hard. yet, she still complains about her weight. well,…

i don't have an HRM but i'm having the same issue with iMapMyRun vs MFP, but here is a website that i use to compare "notes", and it always matches MFP. so i end up logging what MFP suggests. or if it's not in the database, i create my own exercise using the numbers from this web site.…

hi there! welcome to mfp! :) first, don't think of this as a diet. a diet, at least to me, means, a temporary change which may produce temporary results. instead, think of this as a long-term, LIFESTYLE, change. what can you do in a house full of people that love food? learn portion control. it's hard in the beginning.…

i'm on week one (again). monday was day 1. yesterday day 2. tomorrow is day 3. my legs and feet are sore!! LOL!

how are your clothes fitting?? tighter?? looser?? maybe it's muscle? try measuring inches instead. i wish i could find a story someone posted in the forum a while back. the numbers on the scale didn't change much for this girl, but based on the photos she posted, she certainly lost some inches. she went from the dreaded F…

<img src="http://www.aprettyrock.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/4-8-12-weeks-500x315.jpg" /> ugh...i don't know how to work these html codes, but basically, the image i am trying to post says it takes 4 weeks for you to start noticing a change in your body; 8 weeks for your friends to notice; and 12 weeks for the rest of…

i have naturally curly hair. i seldomly straighten it with a flat iron, so i feel your pain. that's why i don't do it too often. i have a co-worker that gets a keratin treatment every 6 months or so in an effort to "permanently" get rid of her curls. it's expensive, but if straightening everyday is a pain for you, then…

i had a gym membership about 10 years ago. after 3 months, i stopped going. not for lack of motivation, but living in los angeles, the gym felt more like a meat market (everyone checking each other out, trying to hook up with each other) than anything else. i didn't end up officially canceling until about another 5 months…

water has become my bff after giving up soda for lent in february this year. i am STILL soda free! :) i occassionally drink a cup of coffee, some milk, or juice, but i drink water about 90% of the time. i never leave home without my 32 oz bottle, which i fill at least twice a day. not only do i have more energy now, but my…

i have a 4-year-old who i take with me when i go on my walks after work. :) the trail i walk at has a playground nearby, so at the end of our walk, i let him run around the playground. while he plays, i stretch. lol

i recently bought a pair of levi's in a smaller size. levi's have always been out of my budget, but these were on the clearance rack, plus they were an additional 75% off. who can beat a great deal, right? so i thought i'd get these as a motivator. i wasn't gonna try them on because i thought they weren't gonna fit, but i…

a friend of mine is getting married next week. i initially wanted to lose weight so i could look good in a dress. lol. but, as my journey continues, it's more than just looking cute in a dress. i want to look AND feel good...and i wanna be a good example for my son. :)

It'll take some time to get used to it and to be able to workout as great as they do on TV - keep in mind, the folks on the DVD are "pros". I've been doing a Billy Blanks tae bo DVD for a few months now, and let me tell ya...it was not easy in the beginning. I couldn't keep up with his pace...couldn't kick high enough. I…
