Thank you all for your words of encouragement and advice. I still haven't locked into a training plan yet and am being mentally consumed by prepping for this 1/2. God only knows what I will be like once training officially starts. On the advice of another runner, to try and prepare for training, I added a 3 1/2 mile run…

I think that is an amazing time for a 1st timer. I am a naturally slow runner. I have been at 12-12:30 min/mil pace for sometime now. However, when my run is over, I feel challenged but I am not superexhausted. For my first 1/2 marathon, I just want to finish!!!! The one downside I have read about the HH app is that it…

So inspiring to see so many people training for their first 1/2 marathon. I hope to join you all in early May. I am going back and forth between 2 races- the NJ 1/2 Marathon and the Brooklyn 1/2 Marathon. I am also deciding between which training plan to use. I am looking at Hal Higdon's Novice 1 or Novice 2 and just…

I naturally like to eat salads. However, up until recently I never understood the fruit/nut combos I often see. However, I have started to add craisins and goat cheese to mine- which I now love. I LOVE the salads at Chipotle and have tried to recreate a healthier version of their dressing. Below is the recipe I found…

@Aswearingen22- congratulations!!! 3 1/2's in 7 weeks is amazing! Thank you for all of your feedback and advice. Since this is my first 1/2, I am just concerned with making it before the 3 hour 15 minute deadline. I think I am going to look at Novice 1 again- the only thing I might change is that instead of the races,…

That must have been so frustrating for you! I wish you all the best in for your race in March. Thanks for the feedback :)

Congratulations to you on all of your achievements!!! You rock!!! It is so inspiring to hear stories from people who started exactly where I did. Thank you for the encouraging words. I have been thinking of taking a class to help me train for the 1/2 but my work schedule changes from week to week and I don't think it will…

Thank you for your feedback. You definitely brought up a very valid point about paying closer attention to nutrition. I have changed many of my eating habits but because my goal has been to lose weight, I do believe that I am going to have to change some of my daily staples to support the increased running at some point in…

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback- I really appreciate it! I am looking at my pacing chart from MapMyRun. For the month of December, my slowest run was at 12:51 and my fastest was 11:26. I am all over the place and it doesn't seem to be a pattern. I'd say my average is in the 12:20's. When I started C25K, I…

Personally, I would only count miles covered in exercise. I never track what I do outside of my workouts.

Hi! HMVOL7409- I try and jog 6 miles every other day. Sometimes, I might have time constraints and do less, but never under 3 miles. For the month of December my weekly base has been 18 miles. I thought the Novice 1 wouldn't prepare me enough or keep me at my current level. I am looking at NP2 and did not realize about the…

Hi and welcome to MFP! I started logging my calories towards the end of February and it has been a tremendous help. Everyone's metabolism is different and what works for one person, doesn't necessarily work for another. I tend to overestimate my calories because I know that in many situations, when eating out or at…

Just checked MapMyRun- so far in December I have logged in 70.04 miles and I plan on adding another 6 tomorrow. This will make December my highest montly mileage since I started jogging in February. I started with the C25K program and then worked on the 10K program. What should have taken 7 weeks, took me closer to 14…

Congratulations on achieving your goal! You should be very proud. Go to your MFP profile and choose the maintain weight option. I would continue to track your calories and keep up the work outs.

I am sorry that you are going through a rough patch in your journey. Personally, I would not change my settings to maintenance and I would continue to log your food as always. Regardless of where we are- still losing or maintaining, it is important to have that information to look back on. Knowing that you are still…
