Thanks! I was just giving my friend the same advice tonight. She tends to take an "all or nothing" approach to things, and I'm not quite so gung-ho as her, but I have to watch myself sometimes! I've been exercising for awhile now, but nothing as structured or intense as JM's stuff. Thanks for sharing...sounds like you're a…

I bought a thicker mat tonight, but maybe I can do the towel thing until the bruises go away. I was on my knees for modified pushups...I have no idea how to spell what she called them. LOL. There were a couple that were similar in having beginners on their knees rather than balls of the feet. BUT: I will stick it out and I…

I was mindlessly shoveling ice cream in my mouth as I read this. :embarassed: Just reading it was enough to make me stop what I was doing, so I thank you for that! I've found that I go through phases. Today has been a bad carb craving day (obviously). I thought I would be able to restrain myself and only have one serving.…

You may find that as you make healthier choices most of the time, the times you indulge won't affect your bg as badly. That's been my experience, at least. I was very frustrated when I started eating better back in February because even with oral meds and insulin, my sugar stayed in the high 100s-mid 200s. It took a few…

I second this! I made a recipe for roasted red pepper cheese dip/spread that is AMAZING and very low-cal. I shared it at work, and most of my coworkers kept asking me to live with them so I can do their cooking...lol

I can't count my coffee consumption in cups...I'd have to figure it up by pots. I used to think my dad was crazy when he'd be mowing in 100 degree heat and ask me to get him a cup of coffee, but now I drink it without regard to the weather! When I was finally diagnosed as diabetic (I say finally because for awhile I was…

When I was in 5th or 6th grade, the boys were discussing boobs...when will the girls start getting them, who has started getting them, etc. One of the guys said, "Kerry has boobs." Another guy replied, "She doesn't count. She's just fat." Over 20 years later, and I remember it vividly. Some of the other guys got after him…

Awesome! I usually use a depilatory cream on my 'stache and just pluck the chin hairs. Maybe if I waxed regularly I could get more mileage out of it. It's worth trying if I can find someone I like and can afford!

I look at it as saying, "Great job! You logged your day and didn't go crazy eating everything! Way to be in control!" Honestly, I never even considered that the person might be significantly under their goal because I don't normally look at diaries. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'm doing the mini-goals thing someone else mentioned. My first goal is 40 lbs down; then it will most likely be another 30 or 35 depending on how my build is. I've not been at a healthy weight since I was 9 or 10 years old, so I have no idea what will work best for my body. I'm sure as hell excited to find out, though!…

I just looked at your profile...you're like me: it's so much easier to say Knoxville because that means something to most people! Hehehehe I'm from Lenoir City  Go Vols!

I wish everyone would be polite :grumble: Guess you can't win 'em all, eh? My favorite guests are the ones I get to have a real conversation with...I've referred many to my favorite recipe website when I find out they're gluten free because a lot of that site's readers adapt the recipes and post them in the comments. I've…

I'm a server, and I had to laugh at the previous poster who said to keep "annoying" us! I've found that people can be very timid about voicing their food concerns/needs, and it's sad. One thing I pride myself on is menu knowledge and how to accommodate my guests' needs. I know that most of us aren't like that, but PLEASE…

I take 1000mg metformin twice a day for diabetes (in addition to Lantus). Though I've been on it in some form or another for years, I will go through bouts of horrible stomach issues. Just recently have I been able to take both doses per day. My issues haven't corresponded to anything dietary that I can figure out, but…

This is so NOT what I wanted to hear! I can easily spend an hour plucking every couple of days, with a few maintenance plucks in between. I'm sorry yours is getting worse, but I'm gonna cross my fingers that mine goes the other way! Now if the skin tags would fall off like an earlier poster said hers did...lol Also, the…

I set myself as lightly active even though waiting tables is suggested by mfp to be "active." That way, I feel slow days where I'm moving around or standing but not hustling are taken into account. Then when I have a crazy night, I log part of it as walking (moderate pace..you should see the size of the restaurant where I…

One of my friends call a cup of coffee and a cigarette first thing in the morning a "pipe cleaner."

Bahahaha! That's how I feel about Sarah Jessica Parker. I'm not sure which would scare me more...her or Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies. *shudder*

My husband still gives me crap because I'm the only woman he's been with that hasn't sat through Blade Runner with him (it's his favorite movie and he owns a gazillion versions). I've never seen Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Last Crusade. I wish I'd never seen Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Ugh! I've never seen Saving…

Officially, no I don't have PCOS. The nurse practitioner at the health department suspects it, but I've never discussed it with my GP. I also suspect it for various reasons (I have tweezers stashed everywhere to deal with chin/neck hairs, a history of menstrual issues, freakin' skin tags galore, etc). Since I received my…

Bahahaha! If I started saying I have pure Colombian in my veins, people might get the wrong idea

^THIS! Metformin used to tear my stomach up. For the longest time, I only took one dose per day rather than the two I was supposed to. It has gotten better with time, though. And believe me, if you end up with the stomach problems I did, you'll be even hungrier because nothing stays with you. Sorry if that's tmi.

I bought some in bulk at Earth Fare. Well, it was in the bulk bins, but I bought a tiny amount because I've never had it before. I still haven't mustered up the motivation to make it because I'm afraid I won't like it...lol Point is, is there somewhere similar to Earth Fare where you live?

If I chose to log my coffee consumption, I'd be on mfp all day! Yes, I'm *that* person. I drink coffee from the time I get up to the time I go to sleep. If/when the caffeine starts affecting me, I may just cry. I don't worry about logging it unless it's a rare occasion when I don't drink it black. I actually started…

Just remembered a few more: guava mango papaya boiled peanuts...what freak came up with that idea??? green olives (though I love black olives) cold coffee drinks (but I'm a hot coffee addict) Arby's roast beef...to me, it tastes like a sponge soaked in salt water whole hardboiled eggs...the yolk bothers me, but made into…

Yay! I'm so happy that you took those steps! Just know that we're here to cheer you on. You've shown incredible strength; draw on that strength while you're going through the healing process. I don't even know you, but I want to cry tears of happiness...lol. Best wishes, dear :flowerforyou:

I set my activity level as lightly active because the restaurant where I work is seasonal, and this is our weird in-between season. Come summertime when we're insanely busy, I'll bump it up to active (which is mfp's suggestion for waitresses). Being in the kitchen is a whole other animal...lol. It's all about finding what…

Yeah, I'd try it! I actually bought a bacon spread today. It's a slightly sweet spread made with real bacon...I'll probably spread a little on sandwiches. Someone mentioned Baconnaise...I was thrilled by the idea of it, but it tasted awful to me! Fortunately, the company that makes it practices awesome customer…

I sure do! I'm not exactly the queen of clean, so I tend to do it in intense spurts where I'm dripping sweat. There are some here who don't because they considered it when setting their activity level. Still others wear heart rate monitors and track that way. Another factor in my decision is my job; some nights we're dead…

I use a door gym resistance band system, but I add in exercises that get my heart rate up as well, so I log it as circuit training. But I've wondered how to enter it if you just use them for strengthening because it's not like I know how much resistance I'm using. I'm interested to see what others have to say on this.
