This is interesting - I didn't know this! So, for example, when I am doing P90X and my heart rate monitor is reading an average of a 70% MHR, and at the end says "700 calories burned" should I trust that number? I have been enterting that number into MFP. Is that not accurate? Thanks in advance for any info!

Hahaha! I thought the same thing about our cottage!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that your hubby is supporting you like that! What a GREAT reward! :flowerforyou: My reward is a girls weekend away to go shopping for a new wardrobe! Can't Wait!

Just a thought here.... She has always written about supplements, and gives her opinion on each ingredient, and the research behind it. She clearly states the dangerous ones (e.g. effedrine / ma huang), and often talks about supplements that are helpful (just as Dr. Oz talks about vitamins and minerals and supplements that…

 Thanks Jenn, and have LOTS of fun with all the parties and weddings! Sounds good to me!!! :flowerforyou: I always did a run or other cardio with Jillian, so I am used to 60 min a day at least, but Tony Horton is kicking my *kitten* with his workout!!!

Hey Ladies!!!! Jenn and Kelly - how are you doing? Sooo..... hubby can't find the scale!!! He hid it in June when I was going "scale crazy" and now he can't find it!! All my clothes are fitting loose, and a pair of pants I wore at around 150 are loose, so I figure I've got to be in the low 150's if not the high 140's!…

I'm sure you are doing GREAT! How is the scale reading? You are SOOO good to do Pilates when you are injured - you have the exact right attitude, and like this, you will be sooo successful! Have a great week, and keep in touch! Betty :flowerforyou:

You just couldn't say no to the mojitos! That would be wrong! Glad the vacation was good - we are leaving again today, so I will be away from the computer for another week+, but I will still be keeping track of my cals. 1.2% bf loss, is GREAT! Don't worry about the 6 pounds, TOM and salt and plane = 6 lbs. No…

Oh no! Sorry to hear this! BUT... you can do a power walk! That is great cardio, and you can really squeeze your butt and thighs and calfs when you do it! I was walking with my kids (2&4) and needed a workout for the day, so at their slow pace, I just squeezed evertying as I went, and it was great. This won't slow you down…

Hey Ladies!!! Sorry I've been MIA, we decided to stay on vacation for an extra week, so I've been away a while! jbsweet and mrskelly - how are you ladies doing? Vacations good? :flowerforyou: Kelly - I've done some of the Tracey Anderson stuff but I do it all online - I have yet to buy them. I love love love her standing…

We had a similar discussion at the gym - it was especially disappointing that CNN reported this, with no questioning of the article author - they just let him give his "opinion". But the BEST part was that on the next tv screen, there were reports of a "new study" that said 30 minutes of exercise is not enough, and that…

That's great that you are doing this, and you will be able to do it! I started here 5 weeks ago, and at first, could run 5 min, walk 1 min, run 5, walk 1 etc for 5 km. I can now run for over 35 minutes without any walking breaks! It is really amazing to see my improvement, and in such a short time! :flowerforyou:

I did see it, and it was on CNN at the gym, and started a serious dicussion amoung us treadmill runners.... While physiologically this may be true (exercise increases metabloism and hunger) the whole point of MFP is to help keep our hunger and cravings in check, and use small portions to eat limited calories throughout the…

You should start dancing again! I too danced for 10 years, and I think my parents put me into it because they saw that I had a tendency toward being chubby, but dancing 3 times a week kept my weight in check. I LOVED the show tonight! :flowerforyou:

Good luck and welcome! This site is amazing, with supportive people, and all the tools you need for success. I too signed up in the winter, then didn't actually start until the end of June, but I am six weeks in, and feeling AMAZING!!! You too will have great success, and achieve whatever physique you want!!! Mail anytime…

Hey Trudy - I am in the SAME boat as you! I have found that the cardio is helping to burn fat, and contrary to what some people say, I am not going to work on building muscle in those areas, just tonning what I have (squats, lunges, etc - but without weights in hand). Good luck, and as you lose, you will see lovely shapely…

Welcome! This really does work! :flowerforyou:

OMG - that is a CRAZY time! Amazing! I wouldn't even want to tell you my time! Congrats!

Thanks! :flowerforyou:

It did list the morbidly - I don't remember the exact number, but it was somewhere in the 10's (%) of the obese. The US is above us pretty much in every category.

I recently attended a meeting with "muffins" that were purchased at Costco - they were like little cakes, that would, no kidding, feed a family of four a nice snack. Portions are WAY out of control!!!
-
Thanks again Purple! I can't even imagine being able to lift heavier than the 10 pounders - they seem so heavy right now!
-
Thanks Casey! I am working on my running, so I am glad this will work in. I think I will get it! :flowerforyou:
-
Thanks Cynder! Could I do my own run instead of the cardio DVD's, or do you have to do the DVD? (for maximum effectiveness I mean!)
-
Thanks for responding! With all that work, you must be getting ripped!!! :flowerforyou:

It's scary, isn't it!? 154 lbs at 5'3" though has got to be close to obese though, I think (BMI's gotta be close to 30). I LOVE that everyone on this site is working on their health, and getting those numbers down! :flowerforyou:
-
Thanks Purple!!! So I could use the weights I already have ( sets of 5,8,10 lbs)? Thanks again! Betty :flowerforyou:

Your post got me thinking... I did a bit of reasearch through Statisitcs Canada, and a 2004 Census and found this SHOCKING information: 23% of Canadians are OBESE (BMI 30+) 36% of Canadian are OVERWEIGHT (BMI 25-30) 41% of Canadians were with the HEALTHY weight range (BMI 19-25) Note: People who were underweight were…

Hahaha - okay - so it was only in the low 90's (using your method - low 30's for our method) BUT that is hot for me!!!! Plus we have high high humidity - a friend just moved here from Saudi Arabia, and she said it's worse here than it was there due to the high humidity. Anyway, 108 is hot as h-ll, so you got me…
