what candy??? :indifferent: (pay no attention to the chocolate on my face and my fingers) so i made it out...and more importantly, made it back! def one of those days where the body could have talked the mind out of it. but you know, it really helps to have a group here to be accountable to. 10min warmup 5 x 1min speed w/…

well i was actually planning on it, but this seals the deal -- MUST RUN ON TRACK (can u hear me repeating in my head?) kechie -- that is AWESOME that your daughter is using the term "tapering" to tattle on you...good stuff! will have a full report later on Backup Track Tuesday

k -- u got me: i  u girls! leash -- the talk of limits was not directed at you...but don't push it  ( ) nitz -- looking forward to the report; some races we kick butt and take names, some we learn a thing or two. don't want to plagerize, but i think ray's motto of "keep moving forward" certainly…

yeah, are we gonna institute a post per page limit? just sayin...
-
confession -- i like chocolate candy, and i might not stop eating it for weeks. :embarassed: with 3 kids, out on three consecutive nights (grandma's "house," church trunk-or-treat, and official neighborhood canvassing) we hauled in enough candy to feed a small football team. we're currently sorting and trying to find…

no comment...yet just stopping by to say hello :drinker:

a very good point...maybe i need to get me one of those! (you know, besides all the running buddies i have here) made it through 6.2 today, and i'm back at the keyboard typing, which is a good sign. here's a thought for all -- especially our beginner friends: i realize this is much easier said than done, but overall, try…

don't be nervous -- if you can do 4 miles in the Blue Ridge, you'll have no problem with a 10K on flat land (we drove through those mountains last week) heading out now for my first 10K run in more than a month...send oxygen please, to my attention
-
5 more juicy miles for me this morning. it's been great to be able to log some miles and all, but i'm all for morning temps in the 70s and a little less humidity. happy running today all
-
Wow! Super impressed with you. Logging miles on vacation. Good for you. That is awesome. I refer to our humidity as "juicy". Welcome to NC! Hope you enjoy your vacation here.:flowerforyou:
thanks for the warm welcome (get it -- warm?) okay, not that funny i know. but NC has been treating us very…

greetings, y'all. logging miles on vacation, from the land of our fearless leader Kechie -- North Carolina. i can witness for you that it's nice and humid out here. ran 5 this morning with my dad. already 80* at 6:30am, and i don't know what the official humidity reading was, but i'll just call it "nice and sweaty"

going down with a knee injury from playing basketball = borderline stupidity sitting out almost 4 weeks recovering = fits of boredom and pent up energy making my triumphant return during the dog days of summer in St. Louis = hey, where did all the oxygen go? no really, i can't breathe...uh oh...slowly...falling...oh man,…

greetings all! i would say welcome to the newbies too, but i think i'm still in the newbie category on here, so thanks for giving me more company. it's a great place to learn (and laugh) here. made it through 5K today, slow and steady. didn't even look at the time, to be honest; it was just good to be out there after more…

i'm also typically of the "better safe than sorry" mindset, but keep in mind you had a pretty brutal weekend. maybe that's not the right word, but 14m on 2 hrs sleep could have taken more out of you than you realized. not sure what your schedule looks like this week, but taking a day -- or even two -- completely off may…

okay, i'll try to keep this short and sweet, but it may not work out. for starters, i'd actually recommend against traditional sweats. for winter running, it's worth investing a few $$ on decent gear -- not necessarily top-of-the-line full Goretex suit type stuff, but a good wicking microfiber in long sleeves will do…
-
good morning runner people! another "rest" day for me -- still a little sore from Wed, my first run in 3 wks, so i'm going to give it one more day before heading out again... anyway, thought i'd post a link here to some info that might be helpful. a local running store here publishes a monthly newsletter (I'm sure some of…

i wasn't going to say it, but i'm actually very disappointed as well...hopefully you'll have a better report next time. oh btw -- Happy Birthday Shuntae! way to get out there, even though you could have taken the perfect day off excuse.
-
lots of great runs today -- well done to the tempo crew. all very impressive! msarro - i second (or third, or fourth) the advice: GO DO THE RACE! i did Race for the Cure a few years back just as an easy jog with a bunch of friends. not every "race" has to be at goal pace; enjoy the day with your friend. shuntae -- nice…

fast running, no-puking, high energy vibes coming your way! just don't think about it, then you won't get yourself all worked up. pretend it's an easy, long run, then look at the schedule right before you walk out the door. you won't have time to worry about it
-
very happy, even if i was a little winded through much of it, and completely pain free! i'm sure it was all because of your good wishes; thanks for the support!
-
well it's official now -- i am once again a RUNNING member of the MFP Runner's Club! 4 miles certainly isn't the longest i've ever run, but it was the best 30-some-odd minutes of my whole week so far (i don't know exactly how long, because after 3 wks of inactivity it appears the sensor on my nike+ has gone into…

that's a very good question, and I won't have a detailed scientific explanation for you, but maybe a little advice. VO2 Max is what you'll typically hear about, and it's a measure of how much oxygen you can take in and use while you're exercising, so it can also be used as a gauge of your overall fitness. that's the idea…

okay kechie (and group) -- i did a little experiment, and here's what i found out: each thread allows for 20 pages, and there are exactly 25 posts on each page. once someone makes the last post (#25 on p. 20 of the thread) the thread is locked, but MFP facilitates a continuation of the thread. the next person to reply to…

okay, this should be it...curious to see what happens...
-
two more...
-
three more...
-
i think just 4 more posts will lock this one up...i'm going to try it.
-
for anyone still checking in here, the new thread can be found at: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/61558-mfp-runner-s-club
-
please disregard that post -- i have yet to complete my reading of the full MFP Runner's Club Anthology, and I see that you all are very familiar with the process of starting a new thread. i guess it just has to "lock" before it will post the link? maybe i should go back to the previous thread and just post a bunch until…

okay, that face is cracking me up! i guess it's not that big a deal, so i don't want to overpromise and underdeliver. let's just say i'm lacing up the running shoes today, and after sitting out for three full weeks from a stupid basketball injury, if i get even 1 mile in it will be a big deal to me. wish me luck.
