nice to have another cyclist on board, fixed gear - ouch I used to have a fixie but found 30+ miles a killer on fixed gear, now I'm a full on lycra clad roadie

Any form of exercise is good for you, I think with cycling it depends on the effort you put in.. Sprints are good inbetween lamp posts etc to make it a higher intensity ride
