  • Drink a glass of water before you eat anything, it should help. More veggies.
  • I don’t know about the term ‘cheating’- this isn’t a competition, if you’re cheating anyone it’s just yourself for not learning how to be healthy the hard way (diet and exercise.) I do know my mom was in the hospital for over a month due to complication with her gastric bypass and I know I wouldn’t want to willingly put…
  • Yep, what everyone else said- just go over for the day, but make sure it's healthy. You could always do some serious running around playing with your kid too, (I'm sure you could figure out some lifts with a child weight, airplanes, etc.) just so you feel a little better about the situation.
  • I'm surprised they are going to put you on Lupron without an official diagnosis, it's such a serious drug. I have confirmed endo and I still don't want it- I'd rather deal with the severe pain I've been in for the last 15 years then deal with all new symptoms of going through menopause (bone density loss, hot flashes, mood…
  • I had similar pain and bleeding which they kept calling PCOS for years, even after two surgeries that confirmed I have endometriosis (so they just said I had both) and it turns out now after seeing several leading specialists that I probably just have endometriosis. The surgery isn't too bad, they will likely do it…
  • I’m going to my first appointment Wednesday to potentially enroll in the study. I’m torn as well. What upsets me the most is that it’s just more pain management, not getting to the root of the disease and a possible cure. It’s basically toned down Lupron, which I’m also conflicted about using although doctors always…
  • I just made the yummiest shake- Pumpkin Pie Smoothie 1/2 cup pure pumpkin 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (100 cal/scoop) 1/2 banana 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice ice Only 236 calories! I'm thinking of adding a handful of spinach tomorrow, I don't think it will effect the…
  • It's normal. It's the cilia in your trachea and lungs are growing back and being like, 'wtf, why is all this gunk in here?' Your cilia starts growing back about 3 days after quitting, at which point your body can effectively respond to all the excess mucus in your lungs that is created due to smoking and begin moving it on…
  • You husband sounds like a jerk. My SO doesn't like alot of the food I eat, so I buy him stuff that I don't like but I know he does (I hate Dr. Pepper and rootbeer, so that's the only soda I buy for him, I hate oreo's, so I buy those for him too, etc.)
  • I don't eat them for lunch, they're more calories than I want to eat during that time, but when I'm busy and get home late from school or work I do eat them for dinner. To make them more filling I pour them over a bunch of some sort of low cal veggie (basically any veggie w/out butter or 'sauce.') I normally saute up some…
  • I started on here without 'friends' and gained some after several months, but I found the comments to be obnoxious since they were pretty generic and nobody actually knew me anyway which made me less likely to log in and follow through on my plans, so I deleted everyone and got back on track (after not logging for several…
  • I take various pain meds like Norco, use a heating pad, take anti-inflammatories before and during menstruation, and exercise. All of which help, but I still have really bad days where I can't do much. I've had two surgeries, but my doctors have told me the surgeries are actually making my endo worse. The way it was…
  • I'm sure your school sells healthy options (and likely they are cheaper options, at that.) My college has things like fruit and yogurt in the cooler; you should just get something like that instead of pasta. Like nearly everyone else said, planning ahead and bringing things to eat will save you the stress and cost of…
  • Oh, and I personally don't think you need to take any sort of class. It's a really simple concept, it just takes practice.
  • You should read this; I have tried to practice mindfulness meditation in my day-to-day life for the past 10 years or so and this book introduced me to it- http://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Mindfulness-Introduction-Practice-Meditation/dp/0807012394 Thich Nhat Hanh is amazing. I think it really helped me quite smoking a couple…
  • It has definitely helped me. I still get pretty big cyst clusters, but it's not every month like it used to be. I can't really say if it has helped me lose weight, but I am losing quite a bit so I imagine it plays some role. My fasting glucose blood tests have gotten drastically better, that's for sure, which is the…
  • I read a couple studies that suggested you take DCI with MI, so I think I'm going to try that. I'd love to here an update on how you're doing after a while of taking it- did you decide on the DCI or MI? Most of the studies were along these lines: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22774396
  • I don't know if anyone responded to this with the same answer, but back in the days of one income households people lived much differently. Only one car, modest homes, not eating out except for very special occasions, no cable, no cell phones, etc. People nowadays have too much stuff they think are necessities (and society…
  • Ooooh, I love the idea of cinnamon and clove. I normally buy unscented detergent since I don't really like the scents of any detergent I've tried. Great suggestions, thanks!
  • I do the same thing. I keep exercising, but don't track anything I eat for a week or two (and don't weigh if I can resist) and when I start reducing my calories again the weight just starts falling off from where I was stuck. I never gain when I take a week or two off, it just jumps my weightloss into overdrive.
  • That's great info! I was looking into the DCI at one point a while ago, was put off by the cost at the time and somewhat forgot about it. I think it's worth the money to try (I say that now because I'm not broke, my tune may change over the next couple months), did you see in any of the research how long it typically takes…
  • It's just water retention, don't worry about it. Sometimes my horomones makes my weight jump up dramatically for up to 3 weeks and then suddenly it is all off plus some. Just keep it up with your good eating and exercise and drink plenty of water. I know how discouraging it can be, but, trust me, you'll be fine and back on…

  • Is the loose skin actually from having the c-section or from being fat? I had a surgery that involved a c-section type incision to access my utuerus from hip-to-hip and I am a little pudgier down around the scar then I used to be in that area pre-surgery, but I always figured it was just fat from being fat and would go…
  • My ankles always crack. I don't know why, but it's been that way since I was little. I can never be sneaky =(
  • I have PCOS and a fatty lower belly, but I never felt they were related. The metformin will not necessarily help you to lose any fat, it just helps your body to better metabolize the sugar/carbs you consume. So in essence, it will help you not to gain more than to help you lose. I've been losing quite steadily just by…
  • I love water, so I don't have a problem getting enough, but one thing I do that might help you is I chug a whole large glass of water right before I go to bed and right after I wake up.
  • drinking more water is the best way, but most of the time you just have to wait it out.
  • yay. unless you're just naturally unhairy.
