I check the entry in the log against other sites and/or label information and pick the one I can confirm against other sources.

they also sell single burners that work the same way as an electric stove you just plug them into the wall. Also immersion heaters will heat liquids.

Ha! We need a yelp style board where we can leave reviews for each other. Now that would be an amusing train wreck to watch.

Ah I can see how if you've never seen it do that before and have been weighing yourself like that for months or maybe even weeks it'd be a shock. Hey just be glad you aren't a girl :)

I like to see what others are doing but you are correct it can get difficult to keep up when you have too many, then you can't really interact in any meaningful fashion. Once I am caught up on my list if I care to "interact" more I can always look on the forums. So no, I don't think it's beneficial for success. Also you…

Anyone is welcome to add me. Probably best if you are older and have a lot to lose (more than 100 lbs) like me.

We have almost the exact same story, similar stats/ages/past/present. I fooled around with the site a bit at the beginning of the year and lost 10-20 lbs. Stopped the site and logging and gained some back, then I've been back for about a month and am back down to where I stopped off, or perhaps a smidgen below. While I was…

Not sure what kind of check ins you think would help but I am generally on every day and don't mind to share messages or posts to walls if that would help you. Feel free to add me if you want or let me know if you'd rather do it on this thread.

Ha! I wonder that myself a lot. Granted I miss things even when I do read, but sometimes it seems people aren't trying at all.

wow! congrats and thanks for sharing

Agreed about not worrying about what other people think. But as you practice that, if it helps any I'll add another to the bandwagon of if your way works for you and you feel good then do it.

This made me want to flag you just so I could say I flagged you, and then say it was for being awesome. But then I got scared of getting in trouble for mis-using the feature. OP's post would have worked out for her a lot better if she had just offered to share her story and hadn't 1) implied it was some magic trick that…

I created a calorie deficit in a healthy way by eating 1900 calories a day and walking a mile a day at a slow, leisurely pace (I am bigger than you though but saying you can make a deficit without extreme calorie cutting to 1200 calories). There are lots of different ways to do this, lots of good advice offered here and I…

I tend to side with the people who said that you agreed to do it, so you should do it. But that's probably just because I feel like people should keep their word. Would it be possible to say something to the effect of "a long time ago you asked me to X, but I was thinking about it the other day and I wanted to apoligize. I…

Did you totally just make that up out of thin air because it sounds like you did. What makes you think that it's "unlikely" to be 5lb of it? Yes I absolutely can "gain" 5 lbs (or more) that is nothing more than scale fluctuation. My weight normally fluctuates well more than 2 lbs from undigested food and/or water. If…

LOL. Um. Huh? Pretty sure I just said the exact opposite (that I can understand cutting of a relationship with an abusive person, or one who developed a mental disorder, had that happen to a friend of mine and she had to divorce her husband due to his schizophrenia and had to stay away from him because he was dangerous. It…

good points all around. And yes I guess I should have asked about being "friendly", not necessarily friends. As in, you don't wish ill will on them and would have a normal conversation like you would with any other person you knew if you ran into them in public. You are friended to them on FB and comment on cute pics of…

I hear ipecac works well for extreme weight loss plans. But seriously, yeah what everyone else said that suggested reasonable ideas.

Honestly since you asked I'm really not sure. I don't give a rat's *kitten* about someone who looks good. I care a lot more about people who show their worth by what they do to take care of others and make the world better. Being thin does nothing to show how one cares for the sick, the poor, the unwanted children etc etc.…

speaking as someone who is just a smidge taller than you and who went from a little under your starting weight to just about your current weight and hadn't ever been overweight until adulthood I'd say mostly skin, a little fat. I can remember what it looked like back then when I hit 123 lbs around your same age and it was…

funny story- one day, when I was about 32 years old, and singing along to Frankie Goes to Hollywood "Relax" something FINALLY occurred to me about that song. After what, 26 years of hearing it? And it's not like I wasn't the kid in trouble in high school running with the wrong crowd and with all the male friends who was…

it has affected me but in the opposite way. I love the dark, the rain, the cold. Humid heat and sun make me want to hide indoors. Cold is perfect weather for soups and there are so so many low calorie and yummy soup options. I'll be in the same boat come next summer though. I think best idea is to make a plan of other…

awww radishes are amazing! So this may be a stupid question but when sauteing them, what did you do? I normally "saute" with just using a spritz of cooking spray in a non-stick or with a bit of water (I guess this is more like blanching?) Would something like that work? I am a bit cooking inept.
-
I'm still figuring this one out for myself too but next time I plan to try to just up my goal for those few days it affects me, possibly as high as maintenance. I'd rather just wait a few extra days to get to the next pound "lost" than go through mental torture for those days. It's not like a few days eating at maintenance…

it matters if you aren't eating enough real food to get all the nutrition you need (for health, not weight loss). As for mimosas, I'd worry more about the amount of OJ than the alcohol calories (don't they just have a little champagne in them? I could be wrong on this, never had one. Just know OJ has a lot of calories).…

I am almost afraid to ask but... how would one tell if they "worked" or not?

I just eat all the salt and don't worry about the effects. Mmmmm delicious salt. I'm quite a bit smaller than you and my weight range at it's max is maybe 8, sometimes 10 lbs if I include clothing differences. Maybe the larger one is the more room there is for random scale fluctuations from water retention/bigger effects…

there is a new group for that that just started- it's just starting now but I'd imagine you could join in using your original start time/goal. Congrats on the loss so far! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/100020-20-pounds-before-christmas

might not make any sense but that is the answer to your question- yes, some people need to "lie" to the site in order for the site's predictions to match their experience. The site is based off of calculations that are generally accurate over the entire population. So if people actually fall on a bell curve for their…
