yeah well I eat a crap ton of pickles, canned veg, other snack foods and nuts and etc all chock full of salt. Not to mention the actual salt I add to most food. Thankfully salt doesn't make me gain weight or hinder my weight loss! Otherwise I'd be up s*** creek without a paddle, as they say. Salt would be the bane of my…

yeah... rice cake consistency won't hold up to being exposed to any sort of moisture much beyond the immediate point of consumption. Sorry for your bad experience!

the nasty american puffy "diet" kind (though I find them delicious, as does at least one of my dogs apprently cause she just ran off with the package from the ones I just consumed) Either way I am SUPER relieved to see that it is not the fad that it used to be. I think people should eat them if they find them a yummy…

170 (off my 5' 7" friend who looked a lot more trim at 160, but that was her self reported weight so I am just guessing)

thank you! I didn't realize how old and outdated I was and that the kids these days aren't trying to stuff rice cakes like they do juicing. Now (again) don't get me wrong, I love rice cakes to bits, I just don't think people should be lured into thinking they will help any weight-loss efforts. You (and a lot of others) are…

F****. I guess that means I am that old. THANKS!!!!!

yes! they are like eating styrofoam! I think that's part of the allure. MMMMMM delicious foam. (Who doesn't like foam?!?)

the ones I am eating are 45 calories a piece, which is insane for their weight. I typically want to eat at least 8 of them once I start in on them. And sacrilege to those who say they taste bad! Actually I dunno, they might taste bad to some. I eat the white cheddar kinds and they taste as yummy to me as any other popcorn…

the bloat won't make you gain weight though. It'll pass at some point. If your focus is on getting your calories down retaining water won't actually hurt you.

almost forgot- if you ever see it floating around that ridiculous "cabbage soup diet" is silly, but the recipe it gives for the base soup is actually quite yummy if you like the veggies it contains. I make that soup just because I like it! (it surely will not make any miraculous weight loss, but because it mainly contains…

YES!! I have many for when I am too lazy to do up my own soup/veg microwave combo. I like the progresso varieties that clock in at 60 cals or so per cup. When I have calories to spare and want a "splurge" kind of soup the buffalo chicken one is super yummy (I think that may also be a progresso brand, but not light) I like…

yes, and getting and staying healthy involves not letting people fall into harmful traps like believing diet "detoxes" do anything. People are making not so nice comments because believing that "detoxes" exist or do anything positive long-term is DANGEROUS and people need to know the concept is a farce.

However it is you do it, it is important you get your mind there. In fact, in my opinion getting your mind on track is the one thing that dictates success in losing weight. It was for me, and from what I read many others as well. It's really not hard to lose once you learn the tools and care to bother actually doing it (at…

thanks all! when I want pizza I just eat pizza, I eat a pretty good amount of calories so it's not so hard for me to fit in pizza, but I'm also always open to new food ideas, especially ones for foods that are some of my favorites. The chicken "crust" preparation sounds yummy too!

Not really. My personal opinion is the best thing you can do for yourself is figure out how to get out of that self-defeating mental pattern. Avoiding weighing sounds like it may just put your giving up off by a few weeks. Aren't you just going to have the same reaction if you haven't lost enough after a month? What I will…

welcome to MFP! I always say even in those times I do not lose, at least I broke the trend of gaining. Totally understand the concept of breaking the inertia of gaining weight!

I haven't read through the SEVEN pages of responses :) BUT I wanted to say your post made me cry. When I saw your numbers and thought about how I am FINALLY in the category of only needing to lose 50/60 lbs to get to a "normal" weight. I do think I need to lose a bit more than that really, but vanity pounds vs. I MAY DIE…

well... not exactly how many calories per slice. The stoners that cut my pizza never cut it even it seems. But you can come close (only pointing this out because some newer people really won't know that restaurant/pizza/fast food websites can only be estimates because of the irregularity of the food. Some slices will have…

It hardly matters, I was just curious. I think last I read the ingredients it has the lactase in it, but you know how food labeling goes! Not when the reason causes them to want to lose 30 lbs in 2 months and they are only 15 lbs over "normal" BMI to begin with. That can't be just their business when they are putting it…
-
I thought lactaid has some lactose but it also had the lactase added in so you could digest the lactose?

*correction* OP is more like 15 lbs overweight. And trying to lose 30 lbs. In a few months. And made fun of people who would reach their goal in year when she'd reach hers "quick" in the face of the fact that a reasonable timeline for her to get to ultimate goal is probably almost a year or so. OP- I don't think anyone is…

Trying to lose 30 lbs in 2 months when you are only 30 lbs overweight IS NOT HEALTHY. I don't care what food you choose to eat, your underlying goal is fundamentally potentially damaging to your internal organs. HOW is that healthy exactly"? Don't lie and try to say you are trying to be "healthy"- you are trying to be…

There was a huge red light and warning sirens the minute she said how guilty she'd feel if she ate the pizza. And now it sounds like she's eating maybe 1100 calories a day. And exercising. People aren't being mean they just don't take well to threads started with the intent of supporting disordered eating. OP's posting…

beautiful post!

YES!! I eat all kinds of stuff pizza beer cake cookies more beer. When I eat under my caloric needs I lose, when I eat over I gain. Scale fluctuates anywhere up to 10 lbs in a single day depending on the circumstances so I weigh every day to track trends. The only reason I "cut out" certain foods is because I wish to eat…

oatmeal is freakin amaazing. I have never had it disappoint and tastes like heaven each time I eat it (I do put in a crapton of water though so it's more like soup than anything else. And salt. Oh how I love salt) I recently ate a bag of siracha potato chips and it was so sad. Not really tasty or satisfying at all and I…

you mean 2000 calories a day net or total? total yes, net not if you are overestimating calories burned. That's why you'll see a lot of people say they only eat back a percentage of exercise calories, because the estimates are often high and it's so hard to calculate. It is highly likely you are correct in that you have…

I had originally set my goal at 207 but met that early enough that I changed my goal again to 199 and I squeaked in right at the end here and made it! That's 32 lbs lost, I can't even believe it. TY for running this challenge, the awesome spreadsheet and organization in general. It was awesome! See you all in the sequel :)

thank you for posting this. I had a similar experience. I posted before trying to get people's thoughts but there were comments made in this thread I hadn't seen before so it was interesting to me as well. I don't track so specifically so I was wondering if I was just a chronic underestimater. My day was even more…
