  • If that's all you meant then of course that isn't wrong, but that's not exactly what you said and that is not all you said. I believe you may be overestimating your expenditure from breastfeeding. An ounce of breast-milk does equal around the amount of calories you say, but your fat stores usually have plenty to sustain…
  • Also, if you like, you can read this for more information that you probably ever cared to know about protein sources. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nutrition/what-are-good-sources-of-protein-digestibility.html
  • "Good" for what what? It's the same answer, if the bars help you reach your protein goal, then they are "good". Protein is protein. Although as I said, it would be ideal for you stick to real food, mainly for long-term adherence purposes. If you're going to take whey protein, you can take it around your workouts, as it is…
  • I would advise against making up your own routine if you don't know what you're doing. But if you're going to do it anyway, make sure it's a routine that hits the whole body, ideally focused on compound movements if possible (consider push/pull routines). I would recommend you try this:…
  • There is whey protein in milk too and other things too, but I am going to assume you are talking about protein powders (the main ones being whey and casein). There is nothing special about the whey protein powder. One would recommend you stick to food mainly for long term adherence purposes, but if you need the powder to…
  • There have been about 5000 topics on cleanses already. Search for those.
  • Your BMR does not equal your maintenance caloric intake
  • Yep - you can find it at various grocery stores, or if not, http://www.miraclenoodle.com/ To the OP - it's just fiber.. you should be getting that from veggies anyway.
  • This is not surprising. You should have not had such a massive deficit, many problems will occur such as metabolic slowdown, hormonal crashes, etc etc. This is particularly bad news when combined with lots of activity. All the more reason to incorporate refeeds/full diet breaks. However, what you described does not…
  • Yes, 10k is a hyperbole, so what? Is 5k more practical for you? Either way, my point still stands. Eating zero calories would be a "large deficit", and I can guarantee you that you will lose weight (and eventually die from starvation). Do you disagree? If you agree, then how can you say a large deficit does not work for…
  • Quantity is vastly more important than quality for weight loss. Note that studies have proven that many people vastly underestimate how much they eat and overestimate how much they expend from exercise. And I'm not calling you a liar, you may very well have some other issues that need to be dealt with. But my point is that…
  • I had nothing to say about your posts because I did not bother reading the more recent ones. It's clear that you only listen to the advice you want to hear. I already tried to help you, what more do you want? Go do whatever it is that you want to do based on the advice that you like. As for your calorie post, you already…
  • So do you have anything else to say other than it's "stupid"? I didn't "try" anything, I gave an example to prove a point. The fact is that it is about calories vs calories out, and you are not a thermodynamic miracle.
  • A generic response is something she does not want to hear, despite it being reality. It also makes the response negative as well apparently. She says she knows about calories but does not count them, and then wants us to figure out why she is gaining weight.
  • Yes, but the frequency would depend on a bunch of factors (how lean you are currently, how much of a deficit you are in, how much activity you are doing, etc.)
  • Fructose is not "a toxin", and neither is sugar in general for that matter. Your body is not confused. Fructose is not "bad". Excess fructose CAN be "bad" in certain conditions. But an excess of anything is usually "bad". Along with the other links provided in this thread, read this:…
  • Without knowing more specifics, it's really just a guess. But you mentioned you do kickboxing, cardio, and circuit training. You don't really have a high tension muscle stimulus in any of that, which will be necessary to maintain your muscle mass in a deficit (along with adequate protein intake and other requirements).…

  • Try eating zero calories every day for a week and doing zero exercise. I have no doubt that you will still "burn fat" (along with muscle in most cases). On the other hand, try eating 10k calories every day for a week and doing as much as exercise as you can. You will not "burn fat" (and probably gain plenty).
  • Simply because it's something she does not want to hear does not make it negative.
  • Generic response or not, it's the truth. If you gained weight, you were eating too many calories. So I would advise that you start counting calories and you can then assess how much of an impact your thyroid issues actually have.
  • A better question: why do you think you SHOULD buy shakeology? Shakeology is a waste of money, and insanity will not be optimal for your goal (fat loss while preserving LBM). Obviously your thyroid issues are relevant here in terms of weight loss. However, without counting calories, no one can really help you in any…
  • Gatorade won't be the reason why you don't lose weight. Don't worry about it. Count the calories from it and move on.
  • Bottom line: don't let your pet rat eat a lot of fructose.
  • Don't buy shakeology and don't do insanity anymore. Did you count calories during this period?
  • I eat them sometimes. They serve their purpose (almost no calories, and pure fiber).
  • It is better do under-do cardio then overdo it, yes. As a generic recommendation without knowing the context of the rest of your training/diet, I would recommend 30-60 min of low to moderate intensity cardio a few times a week (keep your heart rate around 130-140). If you can keep a broken conversation, you're probably…
  • I am guessing that you have just started exercising? What you're experiencing is the newbie effect, where it will seem as though you are gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time, giving a more "toned" appearance.
