This!! The key is controling your breathing and just relaxing. Your cardio is probably fine...its your breathing that is lacking. People when sparring tend to hold their breath alot because they are so focused on fighting....when you do that, your body trys to compensate by breathing faster, then you hold your breath…

Talk about a switch...get ready to forget what you learned! haha

I cant say that I've ever gotten a headache from punching, but I know that after extreme classes sometimes I'll have a migraine from hell. Typically when I become very dehydrated. Are you staying hydrated? The only other thing I can think of is concentration. I also play alot of poker, and everytime I leave a table...I get…

That makes sense as to why I have not seen any black belt tests or anything. Brown is our highest, I assume I'd have to go to another facility for the black belt....I'm not that worried about it however, as I dont plan on instructing ever. Once I get my brown belt, I will be very happy. :)

I have worn a heart rate monitor before. :) Was about 100 calories for 18 minutes. I dont think you can extrapolate that for "per hour" cuz there is no way in hell that intensity is going for an hour. Sorry ladies. :) I also think it would be different for a guy then it would be a girl and would depend on positions…

While I agree with most of what you said, I disagree with the genetics part. I think with enough effort you could get there. Does that mean get there in 6 weeks? no....depending on your starting point it could take years...but its not impossible. So, good post and I agree about telling people to not look for the short cuts…

I think the lifting got put into question because it was obviously fabrication...so if you fabricate that story, why would we believe anything else that is said? We just wanted answers to that so we can believe anything else you say.

I dont get why everyone makes TDEE so confusing....if you aren't on a strict workout regiment, then just put Sedentary, take 20% off from that number and then eat back your exercise calories. Simple. Its too much work trying to figure out what TDEE level is good for you if you aren't a strict gym schedule type of person

Salads, unless super creative are soooooooooooooooooooooo boring. Then if they are creative...they are no longer that low on calories usually. The biggest problem with creative salads is you either A. Make it yourself and its ultra time consuming, or B. You buy it and its ultra expensive.

You should aim at 1g of protein per pound of LBM (Lean Body Mass) as opposed to Body Weight....that should give you a bit more breathing room. Find out your BF% and you can figure out your LBM...then go from there.

Trutein is my favorite. I've tried several Protein powders that I did not enjoy the taste of...Trutein was a breath of fresh air in taste...havn't looked back since. I use Banana Cream and Cinnabun but I've tried a sample of each flavor and Vanilla is pretty good too...just worried I would get bored with it.

^^This There is very little "junk" out there....one of those things would be alcohol, yet we all still do it. Its just calories and sometimes sugar and carbs. That being said, is Pizza the best choice you can make? no, it is not. Is it going to ruin a diet because 1 day you decide to have some pizza? no it is not. It is…

Yikes 85 pounds? That is extreamly unfair. You didn't mention it, but I assume you lost? I dont think I've ever fought someone (outside of sparring) with that kind of advantage on me. Weight classes are there for a reason, I would have rejected the fight....but oh well..learning experience. :)

I wonder if the P, G, E grades are more of a Europe thing? We utilize belt colors here in the US (We dont actually have belts, but its more symbolic) I am a blue belt and according to the other scale I'd be around a G3 I guess. I'm nervous about Brown belt as there is still some things to perfect. I honestly never heard of…

Oh us guys would DEFINATELY benefit from it....its just a uh....different....kind of benefit.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are the pictures?? You ladies are holding up my scientific research!

MFP to me is the reason I have success. I use the web version more...but I do also have the phone app in case I need to log on the run. I contribute my loss so far to MFP (and obviously my passion and willingness to keep going)

^^ This. When you have not done alot of lifting in your life, muscle grows much easier then if you are already muscular. I've also read studies that show muscle growth and LBM increase while in deficit and maintainance. This was also affected by age as younger people were gaining at a faster and more steady rate then older…

50% protein is a bit extreme. Why not aim for 1g of protein per pound of LBM and call it a day? 40% carb, 30% fat, 30% protein should be just fine.

LOL...Marry me!

Bump = moving a thread to the front of the list. You are "bumping" it up to the top typically to create more attention to the thread so it doesnt drown in the sea of other threads. :) People here on MFP will just write bump typically if they want to access the thread later to read what others wrote.

While this post is very good and speaks to many people...I dont believe it speaks to all. I say this because I am one of those people that beats themselves up and hates themselves when I fail...I have done this my whole life with everything...and I always succeed when I do this. You can look at it as being my own drill…

You beat me to it....sad nutritionist would give such bad advice. Must be old and not done any studies recently. Meal frequency used to be all the rage, until it wasn't.

Sorry about cha.

It is only when you put ice cream on the bread that the weight loss stops.

Did you run into roadblocks during that year? I only ask because 15 pounds in 1 year sounds low. Obviously amazing job and great work....but just curious about the hurdles and things you had to overcome to get to where you are. You are at a low weight, yes..and that will slow your weight loss down dramatically. So I am…

Depends on the athlete, yes runners dont take in as much protein because it is slower to digest...but anyone looking to build muscle and bulk is going to want 1g of protein per pound of LBM. Those who are looking to tone and cut BF% are also going to want high protein to sustain muscle while lifting and cutting. Since body…

16 year old me, Please let 24 year old me know to keep working out when you see him. Let him know that when he gets 30, he wont look like you anymore if he doesnt and that 32 year old me would have a much easier time looking like 16 year old me again.

I agree, Clif Builder's Protein bars are amazing...I like the Cookie's and Cream and the new Vanilla Almond flavors....I cant tell the different between this bar and a regular candy bar...so amazing. I would also agree that they aren't really a protein bar so much as a meal replacement. 270 Calories 8g Fat 30g Carb >6g…

Omg where do you buy your chicken breast? The back alley of wal-mart? Any half way decent chicken is usually 3.99 a pound or higher. I typically buy the locally raised Amish chicken breasts and that is 5.99 a pound.
