I don't have a problem with a doctor using that terminology. I have a problem with a doctor using that as the culprit for all other health issues. Patient: Hey, Doc. My shoulder has really been bothering me. Doc: That's because you are obese. Patient: Hey, Doc. My allergies are out of control. Doc: That's because you are…

I read this book, and I loved it. It was very eye-opening and made a lot of sense. I think all of them are necessary to some extent in a relationship, but the most important ones to me are Physical Touch and Acts of Service. I feel loved when my husband is affectionate and when he does things around the house and with the…

LoL. Love this.

Not really a big deal to me. I just don't want to be forgotten.

Oh, dear God. :explode:

I've always been the big girl with the pretty face and contagious personality. Being the hot girl with the bangin' body and pretty face and contagious personality is my #1 motivation for getting fit.

Dangit. Beat me to it. :drinker:

No one who has a basic understanding of an energy balance is going to be supportive and motivational to someone feeling guilty eating a measly 1200 calories. We are, in fact, trying to be supportive and motivational by explaining to the OP that she does NOT have to feel guilty for that, and that it's even very likely too…

You literally said that your doctors said that 1200-1400 calories is all anybody needs.

One of my favorite MFP friends is 5'0". She eats at least 1700 calories and has lost over 100 pounds. It's true that she works out/lifts weights like a beast, but it's possible you do gain on 1400 calories because your metabolism is shot. I don't know a whole whole lot about it to get into more specifics, but just know…

Just gonna leave this here. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1068917-my-1200-calorie-story

This is pretty much exactly my story except the details are different. So many what-should-have-been-wake-up-calls did nothing for me. Seeing pictures of the Tough Mudder and not being able to participate is what did it for me.

It got serious the very moment I decided 1 1/2 years ago that I wanted to get fit. And it was as simple as making a decision.

Are you freakin' kidding me? So it doesn't matter one's height, weight, age, gender, activity level, etc.? Everybody should just stick between 1200-1400 calories? Everybody maintains on 1400 calories? Please tell me you're a troll. These doctors are idiots. :noway:
-
Seriously?! I don't know your stats in comparison to mine, but mooooore than likely 1200 is too low for you, and you need to re-evaluate your relationship with food and your attitude/approach to losing weight. I eat 1800 calories every dang day, and I feel guilty if I have more than 100 calories left over!
-
Excellent advice and amazing results. You look fantastic!

I got my first "you're not going to lose too much more, are you?" comment last week. I wanted to lift up my shirt, show my belly rolls, and scream, "Lady, I'm still 190 pounds!" But I restrained myself. Some people just don't know better, and most people aren't trying to be insensitive and offensive. I know me, and I know…

I dream of this moment......

My next-door neighbor mows his lawn about 6A.M. as well, and since I'm already up, it doesn't bother me, and I honestly don't think I'd hear it if I were still asleep, only because his house is on the opposite side of my bedroom. I do find it odd that he is doing it so early, but maybe it's the only time he can get to it.…

LoL. I love this. So funny. My husband ACTS like he doesn't care, but I know he does. I am considering cosmetic surgery to return them to their former glory, and I'm positive he won't complain.
-
Time for a new doctor!!!! And I love your attitude about everything. You seem to really be doing great, and congrats on your success so far! I just wanted to add that, while your doctor may be "right" about what she's telling you, I think she has a terrible bedside manner. It's not necessary for her to tell you what you…

Uhhh...I didn't even think about asking. I just jumped right in, and I haven't had any issues...yet. I'll call/make an appointment if I notice anything out of the ordinary.

I totally get this struggle. Excellent job!!!!!

Thank God.

You may also want to consider a light or mesh long-sleeve shirt. If you're going floating, I assume you mean innertubing? If so, your arms rubbing on the innertube for so long could cause chaffing and become very uncomfortable. SUNSCREEN! Definitely water shoes or old tennis shoes. Do NOT go barefoot or wear flip-flops.…

As someone else said, quitting is simply not an option. Also, motivation =/= determination/will power. There's lots of times I'm not motivated to go to the gym or I'm not motivated to make good food choices, but I have will-power, and my will-power takes over and makes me do it anyway. I never regret the decision to do…
