  • Go to the bathroom. Usually that's the only thing that stops it for me. It's got to get out the other side. Fortunately, that stuff tears through my like a bat out of hell, so it doesn't hang around inside for long.
  • Numbers look great to me. But, you already know that.
  • My original motivation was to just not be so fat. Eventually, my motivation shifted towards health and then to doing things that I always wanted to do. What keeps me motivated now? This is one of the things: Sorry for the poor editing. The firefighter in this image might not want his image posted. That's the view from one…
  • I am not against spending money for something I find useful. Heck, I just spent ~$400 for an online course that I believe will benefit me. I still don't think I would spend it for the premium. I just don't see the benefit. Maybe if I logged more, maybe if I cared about macros, there are a lot of maybes.
  • Tomorrow is the big day. Does everyone have their meat ready? Did everyone join the other group?
  • Depending on how competitive you are, I would hesitate to recommend drastic changes shortly before an event. Maybe just file it away, mentally, for the future. If you've been keto for a few months, maybe it could be done without problems. As you might already be fat adapted. If you aren't fat adapted, at all, then it can…
  • Not my business, but a lot of carnivores are distance runners. Being fully fat-adapted is good for long-distance running because you won't bonk when you run out of carbs. Sprinting and high aerobic activities are a little different, but even the guy who wrote the book on running says he was wrong about the carb needs.
  • Hot sauce is fine. That is seasoning. I love hot sauce.
  • I know the SPAM sketch. Never seen the other one. I haven't had SPAM in ages. This is making me want some.
  • If later is better, just start later. Some of us do this all the time. You won't be alone.
  • The actual chart is a very good summary, especially as it includes some of the benefits of higher protein intake. Many people forget that this is a good thing about low-carb.
  • I totally will allow a slice or two of jalapeno, although I cook with them and then don't eat the vegetable itself. I'll allow the seeds. Personally, cutting them up and soaking them (seeds and all) in vinegar makes a nice hot sauce that I can sprinkle on stuff.
  • I have some of the stuff up. Going to throw together a "just starting tips" thread.
  • Yep. And I will clean up and repost a lot of the information in buried threads from here. So, it will be easier to find.
  • http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/120342-low-carber-carnivore-club This is the group. It will be a long-term place for eating this way, but starts as a place to concentrate these threads. I will fill out the rest of the information, photos, etc. when I get home from my son's baseball game. Edit: it is private, for…
  • I was thinking just last night of having a group so we don't flood this one with threads and updates. Great minds think alike.
  • All this prep and I am being caught short of meat. I need to go shopping, but it's not in the budget until next week. Fortunately, I have a bunch of frozen goat in the deep freeze. Looks like it's going to be goat on goat action around here for a while.
  • Edit: Not slow, you just don't know. We all didn't know once. Yeah CKD is [something] Kidney Disease. There is no indication that protein causes kidney disease. If you have kidney disease, protein can become an issue. Macro = macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs) Usually people are talking about specific percentages or…
  • Nope. You could go from Standard American Diet right to this. It would be a heck of an adaptation, but not worse than SAD to keto. Just keep the electrolytes high.
  • How much are you consuming? Why? What are the benefits you're looking for? It's a plant, but are you using it in amounts that count as seasoning?
  • I can not think of any, nor do I know anyone who has eaten this way and not been in keto. I am open to the possibility that it could happen. Circumstances that would bring it about? I am thinking it would start with excessive calories (5000+) where the amount of glycerol from the breakdown of fat... etc. Basically, extreme…
  • I want you to know, that I totally respect your beliefs and diet. It isn't my way, but it works for you. I don't call my way keto, because it might not result in keto for everyone. I think it should, but I also believe that it is not a big deal as long as the end results are good. I welcome you to, please, share your…
  • ModHat On Please move all discussion regarding the benefits of plants, vegetables, and fiber to a different thread. Those topics are off-topic here.
  • Alright, I am going to elaborate on the "This isn't a keto diet" comment, because it's important. I see that this comment confused people. I define a "Keto Diet" as one that is intentionally seeking ketosis and elevated blood ketone levels (often in the range of 2.5+ on the blood meters). This way of eating is not…
  • 1. This isn't a keto diet. 2. This second part isn't [absolutely] true. I have tested blood ketones with massive amounts in a meal and across days. I have never been kicked out even with meals over 160 gram and day after day over 200 grams. 3. This isn't a high-protein diet. The increase in meat someone will be eating is…
  • This is much harder than making it with plant oils, sadly. The Fat needs to be warm enough to be liquid but not warm enough to cook the egg. And, when you store it, it will get hard. It is tasty though.
  • Low carb is NOT carnivore. Even Keto is NOT carnivore. There are plenty of constipation-causing, fiber-filled foods that are acceptable in keto and low-carb diets. There's also a tendency to overload on cheese and other binding foods. I am not going to try to be unbiased and less opinionated in an area where I do know what…
  • Doing it for a short period of time can backfire. You end up reaching the point where you are so sick of the meat that you stop doing it, and then you remain convinced that you're not able to do it. A month is past that point, periods of a week to two weeks are right in that window. That's something that Stefansson talked…
  • Weight and health are related, but not directly. This diet tends to fix the most critical issues first. If weight is your most critical issue (likely if you are really obese), it will be one of the first things to change. If you're just a little chubby with severe metabolic syndrome, insufficient muscles, and weak bones…
  • "Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3435786/ Removing fiber fixes constipation, it doesn't cause it.
