  • I could probably hold off until the 21st, so we could have 2-3 people doing it at the same time. One with bacon+egg, one woman with hamburger, and one man with hamburger. I think self-experiments rarely provide completely accurate information for anyone but the person or people in them. I know my own body reacts slightly…
  • http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/FIT_Goat/view/the-30-day-ground-beef-experiment-811345 We'll see. I will go and run to the store this weekend. I already have some ground beef, so I might be able to start sooner. But, I need to get the food I just bought eaten first. Ground beef is my "filler" when I run out of steak.
  • LOL, when I log my food, it's not unlike that. Maybe I will do that. But, I need to finish off the food that I have out right now and get to the store to buy 60 pounds of ground beef (probably go to BJ's... should run me under $170 there). Edit: By my estimates, it would be like 224 grams of fat (88 grams of it saturated…
  • I do not restrict protein. I know some people do, but I haven't found it to have any benefit for me. I lose/maintain just as easily when eating 200 grams of protein as when I eat 100 grams. In actuality, I tend to average around the middle of those numbers.
  • I could do two pounds of ground beef a day, and nothing else, for a month. That's actually pretty close to some of my months in the past. I like bacon, but I don't find it satisfying enough on its own.
  • I was watching this guy when he did this on Facebook. To be honest, I just don't like bacon enough to make this doable for me.
  • Well, she'll lose weight eating that way. Sadly, it will be muscle. There's essentially no protein in that entry. If she eats like that all the time, she's in for a world of hurt. Sadly, it is very hard to reach people who are eating like this.
  • I added this to the Launchpad, but we really need to get around to cleaning that up. There was some discussion of making a move to bring it off MFP, so it could be organized into pages and also edited easier and by more people. Right now, it has become so large as to be unreadable.

  • Clicked on the link and watched the video. It's really a bit frustrating that people really think they can have this measure of control. As if you can know your TDEE (calories out), each day, to a significance of 300 calories. Like it is the rounded cups that ruin everything. Honestly, if someone insists on counting…
  • The thing is that she trusted her body to know what was best and not force things along when the body wasn't ready. She ate 4,000 calories when her body asked for 4,000 calories, even though it meant that she was gaining and not losing like she wanted. She ate less when her body asked for less. In the long run, she ended…
  • Please, please, please read that last link Dragonwolf posted. When we ask people to be patient, we don't need for a couple weeks. Measure yourself, are your measurements going up? You could be healing. You could be increasing bone strength. You could be building muscle. Don't let a number on the scale get to you. I say…
  • I drink most of my coffee black (no butter, cream, or sweetener). I even drink it that way over ice, which a lot of people think is gross. It does take a little getting used to, but I find the taste of plain coffee very pleasant.
  • All heavy whipped cream has carbs. The labels are allowed to round down. Just because it says 0g does not mean it is.
  • First, I don't trust Olive oil to actually be Olive oil. There is rampant adulteration with cheaper vegetable oils. While it is possible Olive oil isn't bad for you, what you are buying and consuming from the store isn't real Olive oil. Second, avocados are not the first thing the man on the street will picture when…
  • Can I just say how much I hate the term "healthy fats"? I rank it right up there with the "Ministry of Truth" from 1984. People use the term "healthy fats" almost exclusively when referring to those fats which are bad for our health. All those "healthy" non-saturated fats we have dumped into our diet are the worst possible…
  • In truth, dairy will still stall me and cause slight gain (if I have more then trivial amounts). I just really like it, so I include it knowing the cost.
  • It is not overkill. I, personally, aim for 0g a day. But, it is also not necessary and it is probably not going to provide significantly better results than you'll be getting at 20-30 grams a day. While I love being a strict carnivore, I don't want you to over-commit or get frustrated with that level. Then again, one of my…
  • I am on the search for duck or goose fat. I keep hearing how good it is, but I never see it in the stores. I do know I love the fat when I roast a duck. So, I totally believe it rocks your world.
  • If you try an space things out, you'll probably find you end up closer to 90-100 anyway. You'll also find you end up doing weird things like having a small steak with your eggs at breakfast (leftovers are great for this), because that tends to be the meal most people under-shoot. The reason you'll end up closer to 90-100…

  • Without the PCOS, I wouldn't even think twice about those protein numbers. They aren't even that high above what your goal probably is. It is "potentially" an issue with PCOS and insulin resistance, but it is rare. People attribute normal stops and gos with the weight loss process with protein, when it usually isn't that…

  • Go ahead and add me. I don't always log, but I am as low carb as they come.
  • Reached my maintenance (although about it right now thanks to falling off the wagon for a while), and continued to eat like I did. I didn't up any carbs. If anything, I went down in carbs, so I could eat without worry of weight gain.
  • How much protein are you eating? Are you diabetic or insulin resistant? What is your weight and estimated body fat percentage?

  • This has remained very civil and hasn't strayed off the allowed path (came close). I am just going close it, to make sure we continue to be good. Let's go to another thread and talk about how awesome we all are to each other. What happens outside this place is boring.
  • Yeah, we ask that we please do not reference the main forums in here (especially specific threads or links). We know there can be some tension. Please just be respectful out there and maybe recommend people come here to get some advice from people who have done it a while. Don't say it is because of a problem with anyone…
  • How long are you stalled? How often are you weighing? Are you sure this is a reasonable rate of loss to maintain? You don't look 300 lbs, and 12+ pounds a month isn't sustainable at anything close to normal weights.
  • Hey, 180 -> 53 is a huge improvement. The hardest part is the first few days. It gets easier as time goes on. Welcome aboard.
  • Yep, lost 50+ myself, but that amounts to the majority of what I had to lose, and I am a short person. So, I could usually find something that fit, it just looked horrible and needed altering.
  • I have a few blood ketone test results from going zero carb. I had strips left over from when I was keto and someone asked me to check. I was not in deep ketosis (no 2.5+ levels). The average was 0.9 and the results ranged from like 0.7 to 1.2. Or something like that. Effectively in ketosis, but not like I could have been…
  • Coffee also has a fair amount of potassium, if you're drinking that.
