@char1iej Remember, the BMI chart typically only accurately applies to someone who never became obese in the first place. Once we have added fat cells to our bodies, even when we have emptied them, they never go away completely, so our bodies look and feel different, and sometimes, previous expectations are no longer…

@mx_mommy I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. All the hugs! @jenham3 Don't forget that after the initial stored water dumping that naturally occurs with keto, the body sometimes needs weeks 3-6 to balance that out and burn all the fat cells (filling them with water until it's ready to believe you're sticking with this…

@brittdee88 Hopefully you made it passed your 150 hurdle! We're missing your check in!

@Llamapants86 Kudos for not letting Friday night ruin your weekend! Any progress is a win in my book. :)

@cedarsidefarm You mention salty bone broth... I'm sure you know this, but I want to mention it just in case... Iodized table salt can trigger an increase in blood pressure for folks sensitive in it. It's more likely to be the culprit in an unexpected blood pressure spike than other types of salt. Sea salt, on the other…

Remember, you can take the meat/cheese OUT of the bread and eat that, if you're hungry... @melmerritt33 @xDaniDragonflyx

And by stabilize - that means 6 months stable weight/fat loss wise. Otherwise those numbers are essentially invalid. Cholesterol numbers are very volatile. That's why an average of consistent results is essential for a "true" reading of your cholesterol health...

@rae1388 I think a lot of us get caught in the trap of making this harder than it has to be. If this are currently working for you, keep on working that aspect, learning more, and only change when you need to change something to keep momentum/progress going... When we try to fine tune things to boost existing progress, try…

@brittdee88 I'll send excellent thoughts your way!!! <3 @Llamapants86 Great going!

I'm pretty much in the boat with @FIT_Goat... The truest measurements I'm aiming for aren't just numbers/data... I want the tangible measures...

P.S. We ALL know that hormonal hunger is definitely NOT logical, despite the fact that there is a logical biological imperative behind the instigation of the hunger...so yeah... There is that! All the things that make sense in the world will not always make PMS anything right! Random factoid: I was always hungrier in…
-
@stormywxs288 I don't know about you, but for me, that argument of burning myself out on a food or on making myself sick on a food never holds weight. I might abstain for a few days or weeks, but the desire always returns, in full force, when least convenient. And sadly, I've tested that theory many, many, almost countless…

So, @JoannaVenuto Are we talking Hashimoto's or Graves? There are several ladies with Hashi's on the boards... I think perhaps one with Graves?
-
The basic biological reason for the hunger is that your body is trying to make not blood to balance out that and the lining being shed... So if you focus on "blood building foods," that is iron, B12, and C rich foods, that might help. I've not tried this theory yet myself, so YMMV.
-
@xDaniDragonflyx Oh, wow... That is almost exactly what I've said to myself (change the numerical details...). All my friends in HS were a 0 or 00, and I was a size 8. I thought I was a fat cow. Now they're all in the 12-16 range, and I still feel like a cow, but I'd give a lot to go back and talk with myself back then.…

@rae1388 Calorie cycling is better for the people who suffer when they have a carb up day and struggle to regain ketosis... But different doctors have different ideas for how to approach carb cycling. So feel free to try different plans and see what works for you. Just reset between each different type for a few weeks...…

@tcunbeliever BWAH HA HA HA ... "monthly subscription to Lucifer's Waterfall" is too ... on the nose freaking perfect! Thanks for that.

@JoannaVenuto - That's such great news!!!

@Marcelynh I grew up in Texas, but I have a tannin issue, so I can't do cold tea (iced, etc.), champagne, wine, or coffee... It leaves a weird and unpleasant feel in my mouth... I can tolerate hot tea, but just a little bit at a time. I remember my dad use to drink instant iced tea with lemon! I couldn't drink that at…

@JoannaVenuto - I just wanted to share that any time my hormones (all of those you listed plus my adrenal hormones, too) are out of whack, skipping meals is one of the worst things to do. It can cause spikes in your adrenaline and cortisol, which basically ratchet up the insulin resistance and levels and just toss fuel to…
-
@Marcelynh - I don't know if this would help you on the diet soda thing at all, but try watering your soda down a little at a time...as in start with a splash of water, and gradually move up to letting there be more water that soda (and you can use sparkling water if need be to keep the fizz part)... Maybe make an…

Since my last time really at goal weight, give or take, I was at 140, 19 years old, foolishly getting married (we won't go there)... Since then, I've had a miscarriage, a full term birth (DD is 17), adrenal fatigue, progesterone deficiency, hypothyroidism, PCOS, over a decade of plantar fasciitis, and goodness only knows…
-
@rae1388 What I try to remember is that unless you ate 3500 calories OVER your maintenance calorie number, you didn't even gain a true pound of fat. ALL YOU DID WAS SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS. By not eating all the carbs and focusing on content rather than quantity...this is all you did... Slow it down. To me, that's a…

@KristinLeeD I just ran across a new favorite reference from Phinney and Volek! They explained that a well-formulated ketogenic diet IS high fat, but all the fat is not coming from the food you are eating. Part of the fat in “high fat” is coming from the fat that is already stored in your body.

@xDaniDragonflyx Try chicken thighs...and turkey legs... You might fall in all over again! Oh, and all the PORK!!!

@eggfooyamyam Mono?? Oh, goodness. That's awful... Did you suspect at all??? All the hugs...
-
@FaceYourFears77 - Do you know if they tested your progesterone levels before your miscarriages? They are supposed to rise dramatically during the first days/weeks, and it is one of the things that is a huge contributing factor to PCOS miscarriages to my understanding... That and if you are borderline or low with thyroid…
-
@d_dc_lady I have to say that I don't remember how far you are in to your keto journey or whether you're struggling currently... My general thought is - if it ain't broke, don't fix it... You can always adjust later. But if you feel well, you're regaining health markers, and you're losing weight (if that is a goal), keep…

My personal favorite prep ahead meal is taco meat. You can make just about anything with it. Or ground beef for "burger in a bowl." Keto chili reheats well. As does crack slaw, aka egg roll in a bowl. Having any kind of eggs - hard boiled, scrambled, frittata, crustless quiche, etc., on hand helps... Precooking bacon (or…
