For me, most of the positive reinforcement comes from the fitness element of my journey. My little brother is very fit (naturally that way, though he does spend a lot of time in the gym because he likes to), and when he is impressed by the progress I've made in my workouts, that feels pretty good! The positive feedback…

I cook plain oats in unsweetened chocolate almond milk, then add a half-scoop of chocolate protein powder once it's cooked. It is DELICIOUS.

I avoid wheat/gluten because it disagrees with me (mostly in the form of major brain fog). I don't use many GF "alternatives" to products that are usually wheat-based. I prefer to avoid bread, for example, rather than trying to find a good GF one, because they're generally disappointing taste-wise and very expensive. I do…

Roasted Montreal-spiced chicken breast, sauteéd yams in coconut oil, and steamed broccoli!

I eat yams almost every day. They're delicious, healthy, and filling! I usually dice them, then sauté in a teaspoon of coconut oil. :)

I know three people who have used the Dr. B diet program. All had phenomenal losses while on the program. All gained the weight back. One had a heart attack at 37, which her cardiologist attributed to muscle wasting in her heart due to the extremely low calories. I think that speaks for itself.

Correct. For that, you would need to be exposed to high levels of gamma radiation. :P

Today's a rest day for me (I have personal training tomorrow morning), so just a 1-hour walk with the dogs.

My diary is password protected. My trainer has the password so he can check up on my nutrition if he wants. If people are SERIOUSLY DESPERATE to see what I'm eating, I will give them the password, I guess. But frankly, I track my food for my own benefit - so *I* know how many calories I've eaten, how balanced my diet is,…

Breakfast cereal. I stopped buying it. I LOVE cereal, and could easily plow through three bowls in one sitting. Also pizza.
-
Honestly, I do very little cooking, but I still eat mostly whole, healthy foods. Last night, I made a sirloin, yams, and broccoli. It took less time than I would have waited for the pizza guy, and was far healthier. It's not rocket science, either. To bake a potato or yam, all you have to do is wrap it in foil and pop it…

I stopped eating cereal. I cannot be trusted to eat a reasonable portion of it. I also largely stopped ordering pizza and Thai food, not because they're "not allowed," but because I don't feel that the cost (both monetary and caloric) is justified.

What others have said is true - you don't need to worry too much about calories with a growing, active kid. Offer whole, healthy, unprocessed foods. Let him eat when he's hungry and stop when he's full. Kids are good at this. He'll learn by your example to make good food choices, and that's the best thing you can do for…

Moi aussi! I was diagnosed quite early - at 14YO or so - (the benefit of having a mom who's a doctor!), so I'm well-versed. I don't tolerate metformin well, so haven't taken it in years. Right now, I only take birth control and Androcur for my PCOS.

I get at least 10K steps every day, often closer to 15-16K. Most of those are logged walking my dogs to the park, the rest walking to the grocery store, downtown to do errands, etc.

I don't think it's possible for me to be a size 2. I'm 5'6" and have at least 120lbs of lean mass. I currently wear a loose 14, and would like to get to an 8 (maybe a 6). Mostly, I want to be in *kitten*-kicking shape!

I tend to pack apples or Clif bars as plane meals. I second the advice to make sure to drink tons of water. If I'm grabbing food in the airport, I'll look for a sandwich place and get turkey and swiss with lots of veggies, with mustard. I pair it with skim milk or water.

Breakfast Cereal - I don't buy it because I will eat three bowls. Milk. I know that sounds weird, but there you have it. I rarely drink milk unless it's mixed with protein powder. Cookie dough (is there a "serving" of cookie dough?). I'm not terribly interested in cookies themselves, but if I'm baking them, I WILL eat a…

I am (reluctantly) wheat-free...it does NOT agree with me. I find it fairly easy, provided I eat whole foods and avoid processed foods (which is my goal anyhow). For breakfast, I usually have smoothies, yogurt and fruit, or oatmeal (if you're going totally GF, you need to buy GF oats - I don't worry about this myself).…

I have EDS, which was causing my hip to dislocate regularly. The physiotherapist I saw told me that it would be fine, but that I needed to mount my horse without throwing my leg over the top. ...I suppose she had an elaborate pulley system in mind? HOW am I supposed to get on the horse without throwing my leg over the top?…

Thank you! :blushing: I think they're pretty adorable.

I've only had my Body Media Fit since Tuesday, but I'm loving it so far! Especially because, as it turns out, I'm more active than I thought, which means MORE FOOD FOR ME! :D I love having the data at hand. I'm finding it very motivating to see my steps per day, for example, and try to beat my personal best! I do agree…

Go easy on the melatonin - people like it because it is "natural," but there are demonstrated links between melatonin use and development of autoimmune disease, so it's best to use it very sparingly, if at all.

I've been using Crystal Light singles at least once daily for the past few months. I'm still down 18lbs since March 1st, and 30+lbs since Xmas, so I don't think it's been slowing me down! :)

I'm owned by these two wild creatures: Malcolm is the "black" Boxer - he is 14 months old. Lila is the brindle Boxer, she's 11 months old. They are CRAZY and adorable. :) Malcolm: [img][/img] DSC_0125 by Malcolm22411, on Flickr Lila: [img][/img] DSC_0130 by Malcolm22411, on Flickr

Good for you! You stuck to your plan, even in the face of pressure, and that is a MAJOR victory.

The simplest solution would be to just NOT ANSWER questions about how much more you plan to lose. Accept the compliments with thanks, and dismiss the questions by saying you're undecided, or that you're consulting with your doctor about when your weight is ideal for your health, or whatever. These responses could come from…
