Well, no, not really. There isn't one known historic human society (not talking current societies as they haven't established that their lifestyle is sustainable for multiple generations) that was vegan. Not one. So if there were any and we don't know about them it's because they didn't survive. I hope the OP has done a…

I'd love to post a picture if I knew how, but my meals would seen boring to the rest of you! Nothing more beautiful than a blue rare ribeye imo though. lol

You can choose just to eat Paleo foods and not worry about macros. How well that works may depend on your own personal situation. I'm severely metabolically disordered (t2 diabetes included) so what I have had to do probably won't be applicable in your situation. I had good results from low carb/high fat Paleo for just…

Cuz the human body won't give signals when it's malnourished? Really? A diet based on junk food usually results in many micro-nutrient deficiencies and craving and bingeing are just two very obvious symptoms of that. I'm not in support of supplements necessarily, but I would recommend to stop eating so much junk food and…

Gotta love the "you don't have to eat healthy to lose weight" comments. Sorry, but the food matters. And healthy doesn't mean low calorie and low fat. Dump the processed crap, eat real food, eat enough and focus on permanent change. A temporary change in diet will only give temporary results. There are ways to eat and lose…

Yup, Paleo seems to require, or benefit, from lots of gadgets. I sort of enjoyed some of the cooking but I'm liking having more time for other pursuits too. The only gadgets that I'm still using are knives, scissors, crock pot, and very occasionally, the Instant Pot. I love not spending every single moment that I'm not at…

Great results! I've finally been losing weight again after a year and a half of constant struggling with Paleo (I had a year of smooth sailing on Paleo and then boom!), where I ended up going 25 pounds total in the wrong direction. So I started something new that's making me feel very excellent so far: no plant foods. In…

Wow, thank you. You made my day. I know I'm pretty "anti-carbs" these days but I've needed some drastic measures. Three years and still experimenting to find my best WOE which won't necessarily be what's best for everyone else in the world, though I sometimes come across that way when I'm excited by how well things are…

Yes, I haven't been able to search for specific groups either and I don't understand why that function would be removed. Frustrating. I don't totally fit in the Paleo group (well, imo, my current woe is as Paleo as it gets but...) and would like to find a group where I can be a bit less guarded about my woe. But I made…

I was very much one of those "dairy doesn't hurt me!" types. It took me a year of Primal before I even committed to a month of dairy free. I sometimes think dairy has more of a choke hold on people than even wheat. There's a lot of excusing and denying when it comes to dairy. I do still eat butter, but I've only had 2…

There are many people that won't solve all their issues without dropping carbs and to keep saying that carbs are necessary is untrue (for the human body period) and a disservice to those people. Since severe metabolic disorder is rampant, my experience is often applicable in those situations. The problem with low carb is…

Of course... but when I see people filling up on high carb/sugar Paleo substitutes and eating loads of fruit, I don't actually think that's in the spirit of Paleo either, personally. And then it's that much more annoying when these questions arise: "why am I not feeling good; why am I not losing weight?" And then not long…

If one can eat Paleo pancakes I do not understand removing chicken skin. High fat with moderate/high carbs may not work well so just keep that in mind as you try different things. (Ie I'm not for a minute suggesting a low fat diet in order to eat more carbs/sugar). Calories will indeed count with a higher carb intake…

Ok you were talking about GI problems... Paleo substitutes for baked goods isn't likely to be helpful with that at ALL. It's not whether they are ok as Paleo or not but how they work for YOU.
-
Yeah, Paleo cakes are SO delicious that they are even more of a problem for me than the chemical sh*tstorm ones. Why I stopped with Paleo substitutes early on. Better than the "real" thing.
-
Almost every Paleo cookbook I own is half full of Paleo substitutes for baked goods. For the last 2 years I've made my child Paleo birthday cakes and they both were absolutely delicious. One was a carrot cake and the second one was chocolate. The guests also loved the cakes. Google "Paleo cakes" and I'm sure you'd find…

I really don't think consumption of lots of plant/nut oils are healthy. :( Coconut, avocado, and olive are the better ones of the bunch; but still the animal fats are the good ones and most of them come right inside the food and do not have to be added. Ghee and butter, and what's in meat would be the best fats. imo
-
^this. It makes my heart sing to see someone say "meat is the heart of the Paleo diet" because I think that is true. It's VERY easy to be Paleo and be under 50 grams of carbs. You can eat so many veggies on that allotment (if one desires and tolerates them)! Most people with any extra fat are best off avoiding fruit…

There is no such thing as too much fat for me but from nuts and seeds? omg... and what kind of "oils" is she suggesting? Nuts and seeds are similar to grains when it comes to the damage they can cause in our body. Imo oils from nuts, seeds and most plants are NOT the best kinds and should be consumed in moderation. As for…

Well, I had huge issues with adjusting to Paleo. It took me more than a few days. That said, a diet that high in plant foods was not beneficial for me so.... But I did think I was doing well for almost 2 years and most digestive issues happened after dairy during that time. Any change in WOE and I have digestive issues…
-
Any change in WOE will create these issues. If it's temporary, no problem. But if it persists then your body is not liking some thing (s) you are still eating. Some people are sensitive to many "allowed" Paleo foods. Basically all plants have proven to be problematic for me, but originally I thought it was only…

Generally, the spirit of Paleo is just to eat healthy food and abandon the rest, and that's the best advice for most people especially if they are committed to sticking to the best foods for their body. How you feel will be the best way to gauge things, maybe with eliminating things, adding them back in and observing the…

^I wouldn't for a minute suggest everyone should, but dismissing it annoyed me. I'm not doing it because it sounded like fun, but because nothing else has worked. Having my diabetes symptoms return with a vengeance and the increasing vitamin and mineral deficiencies - I had to figure something out; try something different.…

This isn't the right place to be honest about your woe. I totally know where you are coming from and agree but you have to search out like-minded people and not post this in the general forums and expect any kind of support. There is nothing wrong with an all animal diet (though I wouldn't recommend just chicken) but why…

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. But I know that belief is prevalent. But the OP is most DEFINITELY under-eating. Been there, did that. Never effective or sustainable for the long term. MFP calorie defaults suck for anyone who doesn't lay motionless in a bed all day. Even though I'm not a fan of the Eat More 2 Weigh Less specific…
-
Under-eating... that's effective and sustainable... not very. Thanks to MFP defaults, and not using my brain or listening to my body enough, I under-ate for 2 years here. It was a complete FAIL for the long term.

Metabolism is far more complex than JUST calories in and calories out. sigh. But things take time. If you are working out "hard" your body will be changing in many ways but you may not see immediate losses the scale. Toss the scale if you find yourself disappointed or otherwise affected by a number that doesn't truly…

I don't know why people say "I would never do that". I'm not telling anyone they have to, just sharing that when nothing else fully resolve an issue there may be other options. If one is sick and nothing is working people will try things they never imagined. Being well is worth anything. I'm still in the experiment, day…

^It's awesome... and one could make their own too.

High carb made me sick/fat, moderate carb kept me sick/fat, low carb helped a little temporarily, very low carb worked until it didn't. I struggle with cravings even at 20 grams of carbs so for me I had nowhere else to go but to no carbs from plant foods. I agree that not everyone is like me and will do better on higher…
