@sijomial thank you very much - i will have a go at increasing it :)

Is there any way of working out lean body mass easily? I would guess by looking at myself in comparison to pictures I'm somewhere around 21-22% body fat. Ish.

Just over 5 foot, 54, around 104-105. Reasonably ok - still a little fat, mostly on thighs, but nothing too disturbing!

Do you actually need protein to build muscle? I would like to gain a little more, but although my weight is fine (and stable) I don't eat that much protein (average about 62g per day, weight is about 104-105 pounds). I do weight train as far as possible (like others, I have knee problems, so although I squat/lunge etc I…

you're small like me - it takes me ages to lose any weight - half a pound a week is quite good going! If you are also lifting heavy weights you are probably gaining a little muscle too (although is a slow process if you are not eating much - which i presume you aren't)?
-
That sounds pretty sensible - you can always re-assess after a few weeks and see how the weight loss is proceeding.

Pizza is over-rated, fizzy drinks (coke etc) are blinking revolting as are most fast food options (McDonalds, KFC etc). Any shop bought pre packaged cakes (Mr Kipling etc). All vile. Generally sweets are pretty grim as well - in fact, most things with a lot of additives/preservatives are horrid.

I'm not very hungry when i get up (about 5.30 on work days). I have a cup of tea and water at home, then coffee at work about 8.15. Breakfast is usually about 9.30 ... on home days i just eat when i'm hungry, which can be anything from 8-12. Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it.

Just wanted to add - you will be fine as long as you don't start eating your weight in chocolate and crisps! I have to confess today was my first day back in the gym since (mumble mumble )er xmas eve :# . I was ill for 3 weeks, then work was crazy busy what with beginning of the year, and catching up for time off, and then…

Non of the greek yoghurt i buy has any sugar added? Just get plain/natural.

Just enjoy your sauna!

Yup - check for pounds or kilos. Also, were you moving through a full range - ie legs really wide apart to closed? Most people seem to just do little quick movements of about 6 inches ...

I've been logging (although pretty loosely) for about 3-4 years. I've got a bit addicted to it, but I don't weigh much at all - just guess.
-
I have less facial hair

Only a big baby who is currently in Phnom Penh. So just two furry freeloaders (cats).
-
That sounds wrong - the lighter you are, the less calories you need, so your calories should be revised down - unless as Lietchi says, you are going from losing loads every week to suddenly maintaining.
-
yay! big high five to you :D
-
bit of dark chocolate, crumpet with peanut butter and lemon curd. OR a bit of greek yoghurt with some fruit, little bit of honey.
-
If you eat roughly at maintenance or just under and work out hard, you can build some muscle and lose fat. ITs called recomp and is a slow process. And what they all say - about 2700 is probably around your maintenance, unless you have a job that is incredible active/physical.
-
Two weeks is no time at all at your size - when you are fairly small/light, it takes blinking ages to lose any weight (unless you amputate something).
-
I know it must be hard if you have to go out, but if I have a week with lots of outings, I don't eat any bread with the meal, and go for small options - fish generally. No dessert - have a coffee instead. And no alcohol and lunch - that is a disaster :)
-
Who cares - i never close my diary - it doesn't make any difference.

Just what the others have said - BMI is a benchmark (accurate isn't really a word that you can use to describe it). Its a height/weight ratio and gives a healthy range for most of the population. IF you are extremely muscular it doesn't work, but if you are extremely muscular you know that you are and don't need BMI -…
-
They obviously weren't tracking properly - at that size BMI, on 1400 cals per day, they should have been losing at least a couple of pounds a week! I lose weight on that!
-
TMI alert! I only weigh myself on the days when i can go to the loo before I eat or drink anything! So about once a week or fortnight ...
-
Oops - sorry - I didn't see a load of posts (only looked at first page). Just think about it and make some changes - consistency is the key - not eating loads for a few months, then restricting hard on a 'diet', then getting bored of it and going back to eating loads. You have to rethink your eating habits FOR EVER (yikes!)
-
i can only say what the others said - if you knew you were having a big 13 course dinner, why did you eat and drink so much at lunch? And surely you aren't forced to go to 2 dinners? That is just crazy.
-
110-120 sounds a pretty fair range for someone of that height. The 'healthy' BMI range is from 96-27.
-
There is absolutely no way you have 'turned fat into muscle'. That is physically impossible. You can lose fat and gain muscle, however, it takes a long time for women to do this, and a lot of hard work. If you aren't used to exercising, muscles do hold onto water so this might explain the lack of weight loss. Persevere -…

Bagel every time - Doughnuts just do nothing for me.
