Well played.

Your profile pic is kinda perfect for this post.

You have a lot of great suggestions so far but for me, keeping off the pavement (I will run on ANYTHING before pavement) and getting sorbothane inserts for my shoes fixed my shin splints and other issues (foot soreness, etc).

Try this recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/refried-beans-without-the-refry/ I do 2t or less salt and some cayenne instead of the jalapeno since I have it in the spice rack. It's really good, super easy and SO cheap to make. I make bean & cheese burritos but you could easily sub some veggies in for the cheese.

I'm in if I can swap out the amounts :) My goal is 100 push ups this week (currently do 80/week) and 7 miles on the treadmill (at about 6/week right now)

Friend request sent! I'm looking to stay around the same weight but lose some fat and gain some muscle. You should check out NerdFitness.com if you haven't already. There's some awesome and pretty badass workouts on the blog and there's also a forum where they do 6 week challenges (the current one just started today if you…

I'm growing out my bangs so I have a similar issue. There are those elastic headband things but those always slide off on me. So what I do is comb the center third of my hair straight back, twist it, push it toward the front for a tiny bit of volume and bobby pin it with 2 pins in an X so they stay put. Then I put the rest…

I joined the gym right next to my work. It motivates me to actually take my lunch break instead of working through it and in the work vs. gym battle, gym ALWAYS wins for which one I'd rather be doing.

It sounds like you're talking about junk good, not just fats. I sometimes set a goal for myself and the reward is a guilt free junk food. Examples: staying within calorie goals for Monday through Friday, hitting my iron goal without a supplement or working out on a day I really don't feel like it. Make sure it still stays…

It's in July but because of my lungs, it can take me a long time to get anywhere with cardio goals so I was hoping to start now. I'll definitely be doing some running outside once the spring hits...there's a track and a cemetery near my house, both of which are good for running. I do a little trail running too. Thanks for…

It definitely gets easier though I had trouble with some things right til the very end. I'd suggest looking up alternative exercises and doing those at the same time they do the regular ones. The DVD will keep you on pace but you'll be able to do your own thing. For pushups, I've been doing mine on a bench so it's easier…

I'd try Scooby's Workshop's calorie calculator and go from there. It's worked really well for me. But it'll be trial and error. If you weight goes up, adjust. If you feel weak/hungry, adjust.

My plan has been to eat fewer and fewer processed foods. So I work on constantly finding ways to sub out processed foods and sub in whole foods or homemade foods. Not a plan per se but I've noticed that by doing this, I've almost unintentionally upped my vitamins/minerals, lowered my calories, reduced my sodium intake,…

Another from nerd fitness: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/08/23/batman-bodyweight-workout/ He gives 2 starter workouts to use to work up to that one too. I'm using his pull up workout right now to work up to being able to do a full pull up and love his explanations and alternate exercises.

I agree with using what you've got before getting anything else. I'd also invest in weights before a treadmill/elliptical because it's really easy to get cardio workouts with zero equipment. If you want free workouts, check out youtube. A lot of Jillian Michaels' and Bob Harper's workouts are on there, among others. As for…

I second using nerdfitness.com. I'm using his workout plan right now to work up to doing a pull up and he has great explanations, pictures, videos and sample workouts. I'd recommend checking out this post: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/08/23/batman-bodyweight-workout/ Just starting out, you probably can't do…

I either find something else to do (watch a movie, knit/crochet, read a book, go out for a walk if it's not freezing out, clean, etc) or I eat something but I've also worked on stocking my house with healthy-ish items or low calorie items. So I often hit that point at night but I eat a fudgesicle and it's 40 calories so…

Thanks! I'll check those out :)

I have the Polar FT7...probably would have been just as happy with the FT4 but can't say for sure as I've never tried that one. I use it about 5x a week and it's really easy to use, not uncomfortable (I was worried about the chest strap but it's not noticeable) and it tells me how long my workout was as well as my calories…

I use the recipes function and I use the phone app so I can scan the barcodes. It's a lot of work to put in the recipe initially but then every time you eat that, you'll already have it and just have to tweak it for what you put in this time around.

If you like games/movies, maybe you could get a used DVD or game on Amazon each time you hit a reward? Otherwise, I'd probably go with the saving them up idea and just track it til you earn a larger reward. I try to alternate mine. I get a reward for each month I continue to go to the gym regularly (which I define as every…

I would give it a couple more weeks for your exercise routine to make an impact on weight loss. I would also suggest taking measurements as my experience has been that exercise hasn't done much for me for weight loss but it has done a LOT for my measurements.

For me, I only like certain water. And even then, I don't like it...I just don't dislike it. The tap water I grew up with tastes funky. It did then and it does now (my dad still lives in the house I grew up in). I think it's something to do with how they treat it. I find that city by city, the water tastes different. I…

Have you tried Polar seltzer? I like the raspberry (might be raspberry lime). I found I like their plain sparkling water too. I grew up NEVER drinking water. Even when I played sports, I drank gatorade/powerade and it was always milk, soda or iced tea at home. I made myself swap out more and more of my non-water drinks for…

I'm not single but I did get serious about this while my significant other was deployed overseas and we barely had time to talk. Part of what motivated me was wanting to look good for when she got back (which could be applied to "wanting to look good for someone who comes along") and it was also something that I decided it…

I pretty much snack all day and I've gotten used to eating my snacks and avoiding the vending machine, candy and other treats people bring in. I bring in a lunch bag (I like the Lock&Lock one) and if it's not in there, I don't eat it. I put my breakfast, lunch and 4-6 snacks in there and it gets me to dinner. I find if I…

On 2 pieces of toasted whole grain bread. They recently started selling cream cheese ones at the store near me and I can't wait to try the cinnamon cream one.
