All animal products have ZERO fiber. Instead all animal products have cholesterol. ALL. Plants have fiber. They are the ONLY source for dietary fiber. And plants have ZERO cholesterol. No plant has any cholesterol in it. Choose foods made from plants. In fact, make plants your food, and combine them yourself in delicious…

Watch this: http://youtu.be/8zEZlkG1boU?t=13m19s through about minute 22 minimum. Great information about what humans NEED to eat. The entire presentation is fantastic. The basis of your diet if your goal is optimum health should be starchy vegetables. Whole grains, potatoes, legumes, rice. These have adequate protein and…

I grilled Eggplant last weekend and served it with a wild rice medley. The flavors were very earthy, and so I paired it with a very fruity tasting Pinot Noir. The combination was other worldly. YUM.

1. My point was because you like something doesn't have anything to do with whether that something is beneficial for you. Smokers like tobacco. You like meat. It doesn't mean its good for you simply because you "like" it. 2. You are convinced you need 180+ grams of protein per day. If you consumed half that, and stayed…

A vegan diet is superior for health. This is well established. Another comprehensive study of diet is/has been conducted by Loma Linda University. It is the Adventist Study. You can learn more about some of the key things learned from these studies here:…

Smokers like tobacco too. Vegetables have all the protein you need. And you can skip the eventual heart attack or stroke when you reach your senior years.

Look into the McDougall diet. Or the Pam Popper diet. Or the Esselstyn diet. Or the Ornish diet. Or the Engine 2 diet. Or the Neal Barnard diet. All of these are a whole foods, plant-based approach to eating. No meat, no fish, no dairy or cheese, no oil. NO LIMIT on whole wheat bread, potatoes, rice, legumes, fruit, or all…

I would guess if you stick with this (you sound motivated like me) you will quit even thinking in terms of calorie count. I was eating about 1,800 target and in reality more like 2,100. I've lost 9 pounds in 7 weeks, eating around 2,100 calories/day. I'm 14 pounds from my ultimate goal. I cut out alcohol last week, so I'm…

Vegetable broth is good instead of water but it does add some sodium depending on the brand. I've been roasting red peppers and keeping them around for flavoring depending on the dish.

I'm the wrong guy to talk to then. I'm a dietary vegan and 70-80% of my calories are carbs. Mostly starches.

I go with two glasses of wine, and then switch to soda water w/lemon wedge. Helps me get home safely also.
-
I don't eat processed foods. Whole foods, plant-based.

This is the one I generally recommend. Do the Fitness Test. Enter in all your data, and then the test is done early in the morning in bed, lights out, full rest. It generally replicates a VO2 Max test. Over time, you will see improvement if you focus on your fitness.

Is the reason celiac's disease? I love my whole wheat pizza crusts. I have it down to a science.

This is why I ski and ride my bike. This crap.

This chest strap communicates with existing Polar HRM's and iPhones and Androids simultaneously. Pretty cool. BUT, if iPhone it needs to be a 4S or 5. All bluetooth is not created equally. Check the details if you think about going this route.

I've been a dietary vegan for 8 whole weeks. Not too many guys doing it. My reason: Health, pure and simple. I saw "Forks Over Knives". Then I saw "Eating 3rd Edition" (the documentary that converted Steve Wynn). Then I watched "The Diet Wars" by John McDougall on YouTube. Then Dr. Pam Popper from the Wellness Forum on…

I was at 50/25/25 for 3 years, and saw a lot of good progress. I lost weight and felt healthy. I am a competitive DH mountain bike rider (not pro, but I compete). I am not as lean as you, and my focus was not on external appearance, instead my goal was performance. Winning the Masters class at races. I burned 121,800…

I'm getting my second order tomorrow. The first one was awesome and I just finished the last of my fruit today. It's perfect for one person for 2 weeks, with a grocery store run for some of the basics. This will be a regular for me, the price is right!

70/15/15 Protein is extremely misunderstood. If getting more protein gave us bigger muscles, we could take a protein pill and have Arnold biceps. When you stress your muscles with lifting, your bodily systems find the protein stores. You just need enough to sustain you, since the liver sluffs off the extra anyway. 15% is…

replace the oil and the egg white with apple sauce, then bake. should work. replace the cheese with nutritional yeast.

Check out this: http://www.forksoverknives.com/nutrition-faq/ The last question, concerning oils, talks a little about it. This is a good place to learn more about what I'm doing. Six months ago, if you would have told me that "you won't be eating meat, cheese, or adding cooking oil to your foods", I would have told you…

I can relate. Before I switched to a whole foods, plant based diet that happened to me all the time. Fruits and vegetables have lot's of fiber that takes up more stomach space when you eat. Instead of being calorie dense, plant foods are nutrient dense (in general, excepting things like processed oils and nuts). Calorie…

This is what it's coming down to for me.

Wish they would have had cheese in there. That's another one of those calorie dense foods that don't fill you up.

I'm losing a pound a week eating 2,500/day. I lift 3 days/week. I ski mountaineer or bike ride 1 or 2 days/week. (big calorie burns). My net is usually 1,900/day.

I top my black bean tacos with avocado. I use large corn tortillas heated without oil until the a firm enough to hold the traditional taco shape, half filled with seasoned black beans, and then topped with fresh chopped onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, kale or cabbage, and then the avocado. I use a quarter per taco, sliced.…

All oil is garbage to your arteries. Cutting out oil will allow you to add 2 black bean burritos extra every day without changing your net calories. Do you realize how much nutrition is in 2 black bean burritos? And how much more satisfying?

How can becoming more informed be "no"? Doctors can help you make informed choices. I asked my Doctor if it was alright if I continued following the whole foods plant-based diet that I started and he just about started kissing my feet. He started asking me if I could help him to do the same.
