This is really close to honey and supposedly takes longer to absorb so it won't spike your blood sugar. I wanted to like stevia but I can't get over the aftertaste.

I identified my worse habits first and focused on those. One of my first was regular pop and energy drinks. I kinda used Lent as a motivator to quit for 40 days. Once that was up I only drank diet. After about 2 years of that and going from maybe 1 in the morning to having 2 16oz diet energy drinks a day I thought it was…

What are all the vertical white lines on either side of the orange one supposed to indicate? I also weigh daily even 2 times a day. Once before bed and once in the morning on empty bladder. I am like you and I like to see the trend and effects certain circumstances have on my weight to make more informed decisions when…

Try some good ol' eggs and bacon! Doesn't really take too long to make. Even just eggs will give you longer lasting energy then cereal. Another new one I do once in a while is ham steak, warm applesauce or sliced with cinnamon, and slivered or crushed almonds.

Raw cocoa powder.

Getting proper protein is typically the significant macro for fueling muscle. I wouldn't be too concerned based on what you say you're eating. Maybe swap out the banana 3 days a week for some berries or other low glycemic/high fiber fruit. Try mixing in more leafy greens or broccoli instead of carrots all the time. The…

I try to keep sugar in check. First by only getting it from mainly fruit or other natural sources. I also keep fruit as a snack or adding a little flavor to plain yogurt. Usually try to stick with an assortment of berries and other low glycemic/high fiber fruits. I wouldn't be too concerned to start off the biggest battle…

This^ if you aren't going to weigh yourself you should measure yourself. Also you can get some idea if your gaining muscle by how much you improve on your workouts, more weight, reps, duration, etc. I would still urge to weigh in once a week though regardless.

Not the yogurt I eat. Fage whole fat is 9g for a 1cup serving iirc. I can only eat about 1/2 though at a time, is pretty filling. I usually only track total carbs and fiber to determine net carbs. I try to keep around 50-100g carbs daily.

Got my trigs down from 174 to 74 eating low carb. My glucose wasn't bad yet. Just be aware going low carb doesn't mean swapping high carbage junk with low carb junk. Once you get away from most refined sugar and carbs you will definitely feel better and managing hunger gets much easier.

A lot of runners use just good old fashion H2O and salt sticks. Nothing wrong with sodium when you've downed a ton of water. I've heard others drink broth but that is mostly when fasting

Your metabolism may be adjusting to the amount of fuel you're eating and level of activity. Also bumping up your protein and fat ratio may help with being more satiated. Being hungry all the time is not going to be sustainable. Willpower will eventually give in.

If you followed that logic then you'd only be having 1 serving or less of everything else on the pyramid.

^^These plus lard, love my bacon. F*&% canola oil, that crap will kill you ;)

You have a Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Krogers, or Hy-Vee? If you have a grocery that has has a "health food" section for all the vegan, organic, gluten free, or dairy free stuff it is usually there.

Now you can stop worrying about having fat with your protein. As long as your protein is from healthy sources and not processed junk you will be fine eating fat. The biggest factor of a western diet that is the problem is an abundance of refined carbs that don't keep you full very long and you get into a cycle of over…

People really do not need as many carbs as they think for their activity level. I would keep fat about even with protein percentage wise. Carbs are for quick immediate energy but if you load yourself up on carbs then go work out you're mainly just burning the sugar from the carbs and not burning your own body fat. IMHO you…

Whole30 is a paleo diet but one that restricts it further for 30 days you're not even supposed to eat "paleo" versions of sweets or junk food like paleo pizza. Often times even eating a strict paleo diet some people eventually get bad habits with finding paleo approved junk foods. Whole30 is kind of a purging diet to get…

Even though calories in can be tracked fairly close that is not so for calories out. Your metabolic system is complex and can be significantly different from one person to the next.

The nitrite free bacon has just as much naturally occurring nitrites from the celery salt they use instead of sodium nitrite. Many veggies have significantly more nitrites and/or nitrates. "When it comes to food, vegetables are the primary source of nitrites. On average, about 93% of nitrites we get from food come from…

Yes I am a fan. I think he offers pretty practical advice on nutrition and primal eating that isn't as dogmatic as some hardline paleos.

As long as you're not going crazy, wolfing down a bunch of bananas or a whole watermelon. Some fruits are more sugary than others but for most people who haven't damaged their metabolism from years of eating junk they can tolerate the amount of sugar that you get from whole fruits. As long as you're not stripping out all…

Our bodies store energy as saturated fat. It is no different then eating saturated fat or when your body is burning it's own body fat. Once it releases it to be consumed it is metabolized the same regardless of the source. With the latest cholesterol testing researchers have also found that even though sat. fat can raise…

No. Summary of the clip is that they pushed for one thing then when they learned it was bad, instead of admitting they were wrong they acted like that was always their stance. They still fight against saturated fat which is more and more to being wrong and looking to be innocent when it comes to heart decease. It can raise…

I think the main difference can be the estimated calories used without exercise that you set up in MFP. Fitbit may be giving a more accurate indication based on your actual movement throughout the day not just a base level plus activity. Based on the readings from fitbit you may not be as active as you have put into MFP. I…

Different diets may work for different people. MFP is a pretty basic cal in cal out tool to keep track of what you are eating. People who keep food logs are more often successful at losing weight and eating healthier no matter what they use to log, WW, MFP, or just a journal. The most important thing is finding what works…

For many people their bodies get to a certain range where they feel good and decide to stay put in that range. Yours may be trying to do that as well. I would focus on building strength, endurance, and agility. Many people no matter what weight still nitpick at certain spots. Growing up being bombarded with airbrushed…

Some low carbers report higher levels of LDL initially. There are several theories about why that happens but in the long term when their weight stabilizes their LDL goes down. The more important and often overlooked change to your cholesterol numbers is the Trigs/HDL ratio. Generally people do see improved HDL and…

Add me to this statement as well. CSPI has been pushing their own agenda with junk science for years. You can partially blame them for why we had a problem with trans-fats being in so much food. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UecRn09mF5U
