Don't weight yourself until a week after. Just start up your healthy eating again, and by a week the water retention should be gone. :P Also, see a doctor about your calorie intake. If you cannot see a doctor, it would be safer to eat the 1600-1700 calories and try to throw in a walk.

Most Fad diet stuff My mom is doing the hCG diet...and I read the pamphlet. This is the biggest set up for failure I've ever seen. It has SO many instructions, and it has you eating 500 cals per day at the beginning. She won't listen to me about eating frequently and not going below 1200-1400 cals.

Yeah...you're going to have to put a foot down. No one should have to "lose" in this situation. Just tell him his snacks are now limited. Too bad for him. He doesn't need to get diabetes anyhow.

Changing up cardio does help! I've read numerous articles about switching up the routine so one does not plateau (here is one: http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/fitness-workouts-break-fat-barrier ) Make sure you have a rest day, though. I'd replace a day of zumba with heavy lifting.

Anything that is convenient like the tyson chicken is going to be higher in sodium. Cheese and milk have sodium. Subway meat is going to be packed with sodium. My boss lost 15 lbs of vanity weight in 2 months doing atkins and weight training. My father lost 60 lbs doing the original south beach diet and martial arts twice a week Edit: I also ate carbs only on sunday for 3 months and lost a ridiculous amount. Wouldn't recommend that, though.
