I tried it for a week. Yes, I lost 10 pounds, but I had scary heart arrhythmias and severe agitation. I don't know if it was the starvation or the HCG drops. Either way, no thank you. I read somewhere that part of the reason you need fat in your diet is because it helps regulate your central nervous system, which of course…

That must be fun....not. SO sorry :(

If you look at the research on attraction, people actually prefer no perfumes on potential mates. Their natural scent has pheromones, which either attract or repel a potential mate, depending on whether they are a good genetic match or not. A poor match (less likely to have healthy offspring) will smell bad, or at least…

First off, let me say that your concerns are valid and do NOT mean that you are vain. I am pregnant with my third and I HATE what pregnancy has done to my body. I don't just mean the stretch marks and the jiggly skin - I mean the feeling that I have little control over my body. I am sick, tired, and terrified of gaining…

That is so sweet.....

Nope. I feel better with it, and it helps prevent colon cancer. I've known people who lived to be 100+ (worked in a nursing home, had a few patients in their 100's and one who was 105 when she died) and still drank their coffee every single morning until they took their last breath.

You just haven't met the right person yet. Hang in there, it will happen :) Took me 37 years....

So true....my husband finds me most attractive when I am spunky and impassioned about things (my interests, ideas, hobbies etc.), and when I feel good about myself. When I'm feeling depressed, unattractive or just not interested in much in life, I can tell he's less attracted. So here's to the last three months of nausea…

Hugs to the people who say their spouses are no longer attracted to them :) So sorry.....

I spent a lot of time single and dating between my divorce and getting remarried. Of course, I would ask them about those things, but whether they mattered much was dependent on their situation. It only mattered to me if unemployment/living with parents/having no car was something that was chronic and obviously because of…

I'm pregnant now and the first trimester I was too exhausted and nauseated to give a flying flip about logging food. I ate way too many starches to help with nausea, never actually threw up, and gained too much weight. I'm in my 2nd trimester now and set MFP to gain 1/2 pound a week. I'm making healthier choices now- more…

This. Get what you want and then have them take it in if it is too big.

I have one leg shorter than the other, and that calf is huge- solid muscle from more weight being on it. The other one is small, almost atrophied. It sucks, but even if I wear a lift to even out my legs it seems to stay the same. It's hard to find exercises that will work out just my leaner calf. Calf raises on just that…

I'll bet she feels great with all that exercise :) Not a helpful answer, I know, but maybe knowing that she is doing something good for herself will cheer her up.

I get tired of anything if I eat it too often, lol, but I know there is research that shows it helps. There's a BBC documentary called "Why Thin People are not Fat" that talks about it. That's if I have my obesity documentaries straight- I've watched so many of them that I get them mixed up sometimes. In any case, that…

Update- I think I'm retaining a lot of water and that's a big part of the weight gain. I added grated ginger (a diuretic) to my smoothies the past couple of days and went down 4 pounds. I would cut salt back too, but I am always told by doctors to be liberal with the salt because I have super low blood pressure and pass…

Yep, I'm 14 weeks and have looked obviously pregnant since about 8 weeks. Some women just stick out further, faster, especially if they've had children before. It's a hard bump, too, not a lot of squish. I thought I was having twins, but nope, there's just one in there. I have big babies, and also my trunk is short and I…

Yes, I realize this is probably insulting.....It must have taken hours upon hours upon hours for Mrs. Ratfire to write so many posts. Perhaps sitting in front of the computer all day is a part of the problem??? I have a relative who swears she can eat only 500 calories a day and still weigh close to 400 pounds (nevermind…

I don't know how you ladies do it! I was in decent shape before getting pregnant, could do Jillian Michaels videos, the elliptical at a strenuous pace for an hour, etc. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I had to drag myself through 30 minute walks and I felt like I was going to puke the whole time and just wanted to…

I'm pretty sure that Vitamin D deficiency can cause depression and anxiety, which can lead to seeking serotonin through eating excess carbs, leading to weight gain. Overeating is still the cause, but it's a coping response to a chemical problem in your body. My vitamin D levels were close to zero a few years ago, and…

Yes, it's totally worth it. If you lose slow and steady it's a series of small adjustments over time, so it's not such a drastic, self-flagellating change. There are also times to indulge, and then you just make up for that the rest of the time by being more careful and exercising more. I think that's actually the key-…

When I was losing weight, I would do the same thing week after week, and some weeks I would hardly lose anything or even go up a little. Then, BAM, I would be down 3-4 pounds overnight. Bodies are weird like that, and progress is not linear. I'd just keep doing what you're doing, and a .8 lb loss is still a loss. 1600…

Yes and no. This is all anecdotal, but here is my experience....I have a large extended family, and everyone (I mean EVERYONE) is very overweight or obese unless they pay strict attention to their diet and exercise habits. This goes back to when there wasn't a fast food joint on every corner and people ate healthy, home…

I do breastfeed my babies for at least a year each. With my 1st, I gained 60 and lost 70 within 6 months from just breastfeeding. With my 2nd, breastfeeding didn't make me lose squat, but my circumstances were MUCH different than now (was super stressed in a bad marriage and eating to soothe myself). Now I've been…

Just wanted to say that I wasn't trying to lose weight, just was trying to not gain a ton.

I'm sure a few a week won't kill you, but these are the alternatives I drink in addition to my few a week.... Iced tea with lemon and stevia (I use generic Truvia) Zevia, though I don't like it nearly as much as Diet Coke Vitamin Water Zero, sweetened with stevia Lipton cold brew raspberry or peach tea with stevia Or.... a…

It sounds like you and your daughter could benefit from some therapy that will help you to train her to cope with her anxiety and get her used to being in public places. That sounds like no way to live, for her or you. How does she handle school? If she's not old enough yet for school, how are you planning on handling…

I can't quote the research, so you might want to look it up on your own, but I have read that women should not be as strict about sodium as males are advised to be. We need the iodine in iodized salt for our thyroids more than men do. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that the sodium that comes in pre-packaged foods…
