I've found that when I try to stick to 1200 a day I end up overeating way too often as well, and it "undoes" my hard work. I've found that if I keep to a more modest calorie deficit, I am able to stick with it without "binging". I don't like the word "binge" because that's not what I do. I just eat too much junk…

Good idea, going with a range. Thanks

Is NEAT an acronym for something? I do plan on eating my exercise calories, or at least a portion of them.

That's SO hard to predict. When I was a size 22, I thought that at the weight I am now (153), and 5'5", that I'd be around a size 12. Instead, I'm an 8 on top and and while 10's on the bottom are too big, 8's are too small and I can't seem to find 9's! As a side note, I thought I'd be content at size 12, but now, even…

Thank you for understanding. I'm scared, period, which leads to feeling frustrated that he hasn't worked harder to change. Yes, I knew he was a little chubby and seemed to have some blood-sugar lows before I married him, but I really didn't know it was pre-diabetes or that he had such high cholesterol. Of course, I still…

And also, I don't think that there's anything wrong with asking your spouse to change something that really bothers you. I know it's the current "politically correct" thing to say that people shouldn't try to change other people and to rant that "desperate" or "stupid" women are always marrying men and then trying to "fix"…

Those who are suggesting my marriage is not happy- if I weren't happy, I wouldn't give a crap about his health. We have a wonderful relationship and are best friends. I know his shortcomings and I know I agreed to accept and live with them when we got married. I do that well, for the few other flaws that he has that bug me…

What it is is delicious and healthy! I take 2 tbsp of it, add a drizzle of honey, a teaspoon of olive oil (for the healthy fat) and a little less than a tablespoon of water. Spread on whole wheat toast and add a banana! Yum...

Bodies are strange- I can work my *kitten* off exercising and eating right and gain a couple of pounds and then suddenly, *poof*, five pounds will be gone overnight. My weight goes up a little before each significant drop. So I don't get discouraged or quit each time I see a gain, because I know that's my body's pattern…

Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula (it's a probiotic)- Like $8 at walmart. Seriously, it works. My family can stand being around me now, lol.

I struggle with the same issue- my weight tends to stick to the belly area and I believe I'd have to be underweight to get a flat belly. I can get too skinny in the legs, butt and arms and still have a belly. However, I have read and have had the experience that eating monounsaturated fats (along with calorie restriction)…

I could look at this for a long time and not stop cracking up :)

I completely agree that it's a double standard. I have been very annoyed seeing heavy friends on Facebook post things like "Real women have curves" and "Bones are for the dog, meat is for the man," not even thinking that they might be really insulting women who are thin, whether by nature or by choice. They're effectively…

I'm trying to get pregnant right now (well, not right RIGHT now, lol) and this whole topic is scary to me. I'm technically 4 pounds overweight by the BMI chart, but I want to lose about 20. I've been as heavy as 260 before though, at 5'5". I gained 70 with one pregnancy and 60 with the next. It's been ten years since my…

I think it would hurt too much when nursing, even if you fit into the rides.

Yep, I can relate. From what I read, it's pretty common, too. I'm almost at goal and sometimes I'll see a morbidly obese woman and feel like I still look like that. My head is slowly catching up though. The problem is that, neurologically, our brains still perceive us at our usual size, and it takes a while for it to…

I was having the same problem with gas/bloating/constipation and an upset stomach EVERY time I ate. I did have an ulcer, though I don't know how that would cause all those other issues. I started taking Digestive Advantage Gas Formula Probiotics and their IBS formula as well, because IBS runs in my family. It made…

I agree, there are lots of diet methods with "hard science" behind them. Probably all of them work, too, *if* you can stick to them forever. I personally have never succeeded at getting rid of entire food groups and greatly prefer eating less and/or lighter versions of whatever I want/like. I have a friend who is a "diet…

Beginning Weight- 260 (MFP doesn't say that though because I didn't start it until I'd lost a bunch) Current weight- 155 Goal weight- 145 End of year goal is to see the 140's on the scale, so about 6 more pounds! More importantly to me, I want to find balance to help me maintain when I reach my goal. I feel like I know two…

I agree that it's water retention, but it's not just to protect damaged muscles. It also protects damaged joints. I've found that I gain water after higher impact cardio, but when I stick with no impact workouts like the elliptical machine, I don't gain anything. The scale continues to go down. If your lower body is not…

In about the year before I met my husband, I had three men who I went out with tell me that they really liked me but weren't attracted to me. They didn't say it was my weight, but I knew that's what it was. Even my husband struggled in the beginning with not feeling very attracted to me (which manifested as bedroom…

Barbie AS- During the weekdays, I do PE with my special Ed students and push a heavy wheelchair around the track for at least a mile. I used to also use the elliptical once I got home, but I've felt so exhausted lately that I probably only do it once during weekdays and once on the weekends now. I think I do need to push…

In my experience, It's really hard once you get close to your goal. I've slowed down to about 1/2 a pound per week, and that is on Weight Watchers, which feels more restrictive than just counting calories. I just switched back to MFP so it may slow down even more. I don't care though, I couldn't take living on 26 weight…

I usually make something quick for breakfast like a turkey sandwich or a packet of instant oatmeal. Yes, maybe if I had something like an omelet I'd stay fuller longer. I snack on things like yogurt and applesauce. One thing I didn't mention is that I am currently on a bland diet for an ulcer and I'm not supposed to have…

Before I give my stats, may I just say that it's amazing to me that I promised myself that if I ever got down to a size 12 I'd be happy for the rest of my life with that weight if I maintained it....Now, I'm STILL unhappy and feel fat in size 8-10's! Will us women ever be happy with our sizes as long as the world around us…

I'm so sorry you feel that way. I have only about 10 pounds to go too, and I feel the same way. Stretch marks and excess skin on my belly from babies. And now I'm trying to have another one!! All I can say is try and be your healthiest and focus on the parts of your body that you like. I have a killer butt :) You can…
