I'm not too into carbs :p Quick and easy way to get 3 servings- cube half a tomato. Chop baby spinach. Heat in a skillet over medium high for 3 minutes. Add an egg and either scramble or omelette it up. Top with sliced avocado, fat free cottage cheese and salsa. Or pop it on some bread with the avocado and mayo/other. Make…

Would log it as trampoline. Nothing wrong with jumping on the trampoline for exercise. I wish my lungs were strong enough for it :)

We paid about that for 10lbs ground, a large roast and some jerky. It's really pricey, and frustrating. Local farms will start producing here in 2 months- I always get excited but the prices are so high I buy so little local produce each year. Have many times dropped $60 at the weekend farmers market to come home with…

Hmm... I've only ever seen people on tv use the "my kids have to have oreoes all day every day" excuse. When I say "its hard with 3 kids" its more "last time I walked half a mile with them one fell and started screaming like he was on fire as the stroller got stuck in a rut and my labby popped out of her collar and went on…

Mmmm. I'll be having shrimp masala and samoas Sunday myself. Sooo yummy!!! My tip would be to go slow and mix a good ratio of rice in or use naan to dip. I'm not a fan of rice or bread but they can help (me at least) with creamy foods.

My gw at 5'7" is 165- a lot higher than most of you! Before becoming a mom it was 147, but now I seem to fit comfortably into the same clothes at 165 as I did at 147 when I was younger. My bmi is still overweight at that point, but my body composition changed and I'm healthy there so I think it works.

What is your activity level set at and what are your goals, if any? If you want to lose 2pounds a week for example it's going to tell you to eat 1,000 calories a day less than what your body burns. It only can guess what you burn by the info you put in.

I don't really believe this "starvation mode" thing either. I would starve on 1200 calories, though. Prison camps give people 700 calories to starve them to death. You may destroy your body eating less, but you will lose weight. Not saying you're destroying your body. It would destroy mine, though :)

I turn mine off. I think it overestimates, so I'd rather not add even more to that # even though I don't count the calories I eat. I'm cOnsidering a more sophisticated monitor to wear all of the time. Then I could monitor that for a bit and count calories and see how they add up. Would be interesting!

Yay! I'm definitely not seeing success, but in not quitting :) thanks for sharing and encouraging.

This made me laugh and smile a lot. :). Congrats.

I have logged house cleaning once- I skipped my workout to seriously overhaul my kitchen for hours. As others have said, I worked up a sweat. On a normal day I don't log dish washing, oven wiping, counter scrubbing, cooking etc. :)

I just want to chime in on my experience real quick- 16 months ago I stopped eating meat, gave up most sugar, returned to exercise (post surgery). Two nights ago I started laughing and told my boyfriend this- People are constantly! talking about how they went veg, stopped eating fast food and refined sugar, weight fell…

I'm feeling similar right now, I'm at 185ish and I have been working out for several weeks and not losing weight. While I was counting and restricting my calories I gained 4 pounds, so I decided to keep the exercise for now and stop worrying about my calorie #s. So far I have stopped gaining weight and am down 2 pounds…

Just come clear the snow for me : P Really looking forward to when it's warm enough to go out with three little ones. Such a short season here! And so much worse many other places.

I love flavored colas. I've reduced my intake from 2 liters a day to a can (8-12 oz, just depends on what I buy). I realized a couple of years ago I was always getting hooked on soda again when I'd eat out, so I rarely do that anymore and no longer have the intense cravings. Took a little time and effort but I'm happy with…

I have been thinking about this for a few days. Since surgery 18 months ago (major) I am soooo uncomfortable with what my body can do. Someone recently was talking about people holding on on the treadmill and how it's worthless and negates the workout. My HRM disagreed, as did the sweat dripping through my clothes after…

If you're not doing it with the goal and expectation of losing five pounds a day (or even one), then if you can handle it I think it's great. I would recommend recording your weight less frequently or averaging. With the MFP app though you can just log it daily and see the graph and that's pretty rockin'. Because of how…

I would average them. My HRM has been sky-high for my burns, saying nearly 500 cals in 30 minutes. I go with 300 as my livestrong app suggests for my personal stats and my treadmill settings. Now I stopped wearing the HRM, strapped it to the treadmill and put my thumb on it to get my stats and the number has gone to about…

Grits are not like oatmeal :x Ick! They're like farina or polenta. I prepare plain farina the way my grandmother prepares grits.

I love my vitamix for making frappucchinos and all sorts of smoothies. It really does make a great smoothie. I ended up buying a food processor to go with it, though. You are supposed to be able to make nut butters and 'ice creams' in the vita mix, but I have had no success with either and cleaning those things off the…

A banana is featured in the ads that say, 'Five foods you should never eat'. I eat a banana every day, and sometimes two. They are amazing for you. Maybe the ad is for people who are just desperate to be skinny fat. I'd rather be fit fat right now.

I would just bring it up very plainly. My birthday was never a big deal to anyone when I was a kid, and I can be kind of sensitive about it. Better to just say you fully expect a call, flowers, a card and a celebratory dinner or whatever it is YOU want when he comes back. I would personally even say, 'I can plan the whole…

Welcome, Shannon! that's awesome progress so far. Very inspiring. Feel free to add me as a friend : )

I add it to sauce for spaghetti. Chop it down so it's not stringy, it wilts to almost nothing rather quickly and adds a lot of nutrients. You can't really taste it in the sauce. I also just eat it by the hand full :P

Sometimes avocado has a really bad after taste. I can't figure out what kind/how to avoid this- I've tried making desserts with avocado and if you end up with the ones that have this rancid flavor afterward it is all trash- effort, ingredients and excitement. So sad. Could be so good, or could be so bad : (

I have a really hard time reaching my 80+ grams a day goal : ( I eat vegetarian and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat, I just don't ever get 'enough' protein!

Almond butter is yummy. So is peanut butter. I'm a snob and make my own :) We have to remember that not all nutrition info goes on the label, and we need a variety of foods. This may lead you on a path - http://www.buzzle.com/articles/almond-butter-vs-peanut-butter.html

The first two fluxes are normal. Especially if you were dressed differently. My doc would weigh me in jeans with my shoes on. Doctors scales are supposed to be the most accurate. They are supposed to be calibrated regularly. Not everyone is going to do this. As for the dumbbell test- try to use at least two different…

I try to eat the same meals as often as I can but without using meat substitutes (I'm anti-soy and would rather eat locally raised grass fed animals than soy). What I mean is- if I make the fam soft tacos, I skip the ground beef in mine and have Mex rice, black or garbonzo beans, cottage cheese (or sour cream, I prefer…
