  • Don't forget the rise. I was once told I HAD TO participate in a fashion show- I was a size 8/10 in the clothes we had from the same brand. I was told what to get and tried to beg my way out if it- I could button nothing smaller than a 16! Any other pant in the store I could go 8/10, but my boss wanted me to model THAt…
  • I kind of agree. I look over my shoulder a lot when in out runnin, street, trail, track- nothing to do with competing. It's foolish not to, in my opinion. You just need to know who is behind you, how far, how many, etc. Safety first!
  • I hate it now- When I was younger I did gymnastics and played basketball for fun and stayed in shape without ever thinking about exercise. Now I love the feeling after a cardio workout, but it takes a lot for me to get on the treadmill (I even post my stats sometimes before I do it so I can't back out). I do enjoy biking,…
  • For once, I'm pretty happy with all of them. I was mad at Arthur for what he did, and I wasn't wild about Rulon's cousin (?! Friend?). I forgave Arthur and the other guy surprised and impressed me by offering himself as the easy vote. He seemed so out for blood and competitive, that must have been HARD to so. I really like…
  • How about wearing your fav jeans, yet when you are out shopping you can't even get others in the size past your knees? I've stopped worrying about it as much as I can. I have a couple of photos I snapped and will update them every two weeks. I'll just worry about moving forward rather than comparing me to anyone else. I…
  • When I was younger and trying to get into gymnastics shape I had some little rules for myself- I LOVE flavored colas. I wasn't trying to lose weight, but say if I wanted a coke I could have 2 a week and I had to do 30 leg lifts first (lie on back, feet together, raise to 90•, lower to 6", go back up). It REALLY…
  • I treadmilling at 10% incline about 3mph does 10 cals/min for me. I also am always Surprised by the burn on my single speed cruiser. Very fast burn!
  • Can I have Mark Wahlberg, please? Oh no wait... wait... I get it... ok... Ok. But um, yeah- how about gettin me that Mark Wahlberg? (I'm not allowed to have his films in the house). I'd love to look like Fiona Apple. She is stunning.
  • Hi, Leigh! I've been using MFP on my iPod and evo 4G for months but only found the boards a week or two ago. So far they are really motivating. I'm 26 myself. I've struggled with managing my weight my whole life and really hope to get some off and learn to keep it that way. I'll send you a friend request. :)
  • Nicely said. Slow progress is ok. Maintenance is a standstill at best. I am happy I've stopped gaining. That's part 1 of losing, and something to feel good about.
  • Yay for not being ignored! Kat- you know, unlike a lot of women I shamefully cannot blame my pregnancy. I worked throughout in retail, walked up to 3 miles a day with my dogs, to and from the train station or bus stops (one car family), and had such morning sickness throughout that I lost weight the first tri, gained none…
  • That's pretty impressive, and you seem to have a great attitude! How do you feel about your appearance now? (you commented about having rolls and such before)
  • Ive learned to buy jeans a bit tight. They stretch out, then wash and dry on no heat cycle if you can (otherwise hang dry). This keeps them in that "worn to fit" place. Since you already have them, try drying on medium. Should pull them in a bit. You'll likely have to do this for every wearing.
  • If I could justify the expenditure on me, I would go with a body bugg. I think I would be even more motivated to see my calories all day rather than just what I get with my HRM during exercise. It gives a more immediate reward for taking the stairs or parking further away.
  • My suggestion for slimmer legs would be pilates. It will help burn calories and build muscle tone, but the muslces will be a different shape. Running will take the weight off, but you'll be building up muscle in the legs rather quickly and thus it will sort of take the place of the fat you lose and you'll notice a…
  • I haven't seen previous threads, but I'm a bfing mom so I hope my barging in isn't offensive : ) Because of the breastfeeding I don't try to limit my calories, I just make effort to eat healthy foods for high nutrition and get exercise. My goal is just to be healthy and feel good about how I look, but it wouldn't kill me…
  • I don't knkow if mine is private or public. I get about five minutes a day to surf the site, and don't want to worry right now about learning every little detail. I would love to have more friends, though, and agree about enjoying the opportunity to surf and find people who seem similar. A lot of people just likely don't…
  • A lot of factors can come into play with a new workout routine. How quickly did you gain the two pound? Is it in the three weeks, or did you weigh yourself one week and see a gain the following week? I personally started a new routine just a few weeks back and laughed at myself when I went to put my jeans on and they would…
  • For some, I'm sure, but it's highly personal. People think too broadly on these things- if 3500 calories is a pound and your personal needs are 2000 calories a day then you'd lose a pound a week by having a 1500 a day net. In theory. Doing this I usually lose about 2 pounds a week. My daily calorie needs may be closer to…
  • Lol@pouring some out. It can be hard for others to understand. My boyfriend will call because he's stopping somewhere- he is incapable of buying a small size no matter how I insist. Always he buys large! What I don't understand is no matter how good of a deal it is to upgrade- a quarter spent is a quarter spent. If I want…
  • I've decided to do this. I am going to work hard at exercising and eating healthy for six weeks. Hopefully I'll learn to appreciate other changes- like tonight I put on jeans and laughed when they were tighter in the butt and thighs and looser in the waist. I walk at an incline which flattens my tummy and lifts my rear…
  • I've never noticed this, but people do look confused when I ask if I can get a BLT with no bacon and + avocado. Or order a chicken ceasar and ask that the meat be placed on the side (if I'm paying for it my dogs may as well get it). Also when I refuse to get large sizes. "it's 35 cents more" I simply answer this one with,…
  • I'd love to be added : ) I have been using the app on my ipod for quite a while, but not active on the site yet. I'm 26, probably want to lose roughly 15 pounds but I'm not weighing myself right now. I decided to give that a rest and instead focus on getting fit and fitting into what I want to fit into (my summer jeans!).…
