YES! Was never able to do it so well before and stay where I want to be. Ever. Never could have done it so relatively easily without MFP. And yes, other than my gym buddies, I go it alone. And don't mind a bit. Everyone's kind of astounded at how I look now. Yay MFP!

Once you get the hang of it, it takes less and less time and you can copy meals, create and save recipes to use again, etc. Frozen meals are convenient, but tend to have a ton of sodium and more calories, not to mention cost more and never offer leftovers like homemade food. I'd save using frozen meals for an absolute…

I've heard that it can stress out your kidneys and liver if you have too much protein but 1) I'm guessing there are very few people who fall into the "too much" category and 2) I've heard that hydrating, drinking lots of water, helps support the kidneys and liver with protein increase. At the end of the day, it sounds like…

It depends on the pain. If it's just achy creaky getting older pains, I push through it. But if it feels like potential injury pain, I STOP! Working out has actually helped the aches and pains -- my muscles getting stronger have helped relieve the pressure on my joints. Foot pain -- you may have plantar fasciitis which is…

I had a major lower back issue a few months ago, so I feel ya. Work on strengthening your core and focus on tightening your abs with everything you do -- even elliptical. Your abs will help support your back. Oh. And ibuprofen. :ohwell:

I'll take it, Bob! I turn 50 on Saturday!
-
I would just best-guess it based on the options in the database and then overestimate the calories. Sometimes there are several options of one item; I'll usually choose the highest calorie one just to be safe and have a buffer.

I turn 50 Saturday. I've lost 20 pounds, 7 over the last 2-3 years, an additional 13 since getting serious about it in April (and joining MFP). I am at goal weight, so I didn't have a whole lot to lose. I've been in maintenance for 2-3 months. Only twice have I gone above maintenance (including this past week with lots of…

Sometimes it really is just too hard to figure out so I generally don't log meals out. What I do do, however, is look at the menu beforehand to try to suss out the best selections, and then before even putting a fork in, cut the meal in half and put it in a to go bag. I've not left hungry yet.

YES! I turn 50 on Saturday. I'm proud and pleased with the progress I've made. Have a look at my pics.

Once a week. I used to every day, but that messed with my head.

It sounds like you you're doing great and right on track! Like other posters have suggested, it's probably time to add in more weight training. And eat all your exercise calories back. You need the calories to gain muscle anyway. Keep up the terrific work!

Alas, I didn't take any before photos, but this is me a couple of months ago in the bikini photo. Somewhere in the 125-128 range. MFP shows 13 lost (from when I joined) but it's around 20 all together. 5% body fat lost, plus lots -- seriously lots -- of inches (like 5" from my hips).

I just naturally get hungry after 2-3 hours, so I eat a little something. I don't really try to track the time. But I do tend to get hungry/eat at about the same times each day (8 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m., 8:30 p.m.).

Curious... Were you netting 1300/1500 daily after exercise or was that your total daily calorie intake?

It is a drag. But use the tools for how they can help you and ignore the rest.

Generally anything that promises rapid weight loss isn't sustainable (even if it does work) and you're likely to gain the weight right back again as soon as you eat normally. Slow and steady wins the race.
-
I've been in maintenance for a couple of months now (except for one week, but I zipped myself right back down again). Feel free to add me.

You are my hero.

I do Combat at the gym once or twice a week and LOVE it! It helps if the instructors are really bad-*kitten*. It make me feel all bad-*kitten*, too. And, besides that, it's a real calorie burn if you give it your utter all. I come out completely drenched.

Hi hun -- 20 pounds isn't much to lose at all, so it will probably go pretty slowly. And 7-10 pounds in two weeks is very very ambitious, regardless of the diet. Even if you did lose that amount in two weeks, you would be pretty likely to gain it all back as soon as you went to normal eating. I'm guessing the 17-day-diet…

I turn 50 in two weeks and my entire maternal family is diabetic and has heart disease starting at very young ages. I have neither. You can do this! It's great to be "a woman of a certain age" and fit!

Make low calorie banana (or other healthy) muffins (lots of recipes online) and freeze them. 20 seconds in the microwave, and you have a quick and easy breakfast on the go.

I'm with you. I went shorts shopping. Went into almost every store in the mall. Came out with nothing.

To each his/her own, but for me, I started losing weight more quickly once I ate all of my exercise calories back and adjusted my net calories up to 1300-1400 from 1200. I also started feeling better, much less fatigued (the fatigue kicked in after two months of netting 1200 or under and working out hard), and frankly,…

If you feel fit and conditioned enough and have the energy for it, I don't see why not (although I'm sure others will disagree). Just be sure you're well-hydrated and well-fueled, and if you start to feel fatigued, pull back or stop all together. And don't push too hard tomorrow. But you haven't done close to that much in…

Lookin' good! Congrats!!!

You could try exercising a bit more to earn the extra wine calories, and keep eating nutritionally very sound otherwise.
-
I didn't have too much to lose, so I figured it would be on the slow side. I netted 1200 or under for a couple of months, lost approx. 1/2 pound a week and started to feel fatigued. I upped it to net 1300-1500 (and did a day a week of not counting and all), and I went up to losing a pound a week and feeling much better.…

And stay away from Muscletech Chocolate. I got it at Sam's Club because I'm awfully frugal, but despite the fact that the package says "Improved Flavor" (that should have been my first hint, it's not very good at all. I doctor it up so it's not too bad hidden , but just with water? Not so good.
