I don't log as much since I'm in maintenance, but if I go over maintenance by even an ounce, I'm back at logging. I also will use it to just track one macro I might be interested in at any given time, like protein. I also like checking in on my pals. I would imagine I'll stay on MFP forever, but not logging unless I need…

Dancing is fun at any age! If nothing else, lock the doors, draw the shades, crank the music, and dance around like a dang fool! I promise. it will be fun!

Cheerios are very low sugar. Then you can add fruit -- bananas, blueberries, etc. - to make it sweeter, more filling, up the nutritional value.
-
Same here. Always the Lower Sugar. If you read the labels, that's the one that has the best overall percentages. And you can always add more fiber by adding fruit, etc.
-
They're 80 calories each. If you go to the recipe link, it gives the nutritional info. I'm guessing mine are even a bit less in calories using Splenda and unsweetened applesauce.

My sweetheart does most of the cooking and I'm happy to have him do it, but he's very heavy on butter, sauces, oils, meats. Rather than making a separate meal for myself, I simply watch my portion sizes. I get out my little scale and weigh everything. And frankly, if you don't scarf too fast (as I tend to do), heavy foods…

I'm 50 and started working out in earnest a year and 3 months ago. My arms are looking effin' awesome. I lost weight and looked more overall toned all around about 8 months in. It's in the last 3 months or so that I'm really seeing ever more definition and looks like increased muscle size (at least in my arms). So yes,…

I didn't lose that much weight but went from super full gorgeous 34C to a small 34B. But now I get to wear all those pretty padded bras that I wouldn't wear before and am very very happy with how my body looks in and out of clothes. The boobs just look bigger with clothes on, is all. And I feel great, which is the most…

I also have an Omega 8004 and love it. Would like to have a Vitamix, too, since it serves a different juicing purpose, but saving my pennies. Juicing is a great way to get those veggie nutrients in.

I must have thin mints. I get them and then I just dole them out to myself verrrrryyyy slooowwwllly keeping within calories. I take a couple out of the package and put the box away. Keeping the box present and visible and open is very very dangerous. Those Thin Mints go down easy!

As someone else mentioned, keeping weight in your heels really forces you to take care of your knees and hips. If you're not sure if you're doing that right, try to keep your toes up a little while squatting. This will keep your weight in your heels. If you're using weights, lighten them or get rid of them altogether until…

I am 50. And I am hot. Now stop with worrying about getting older. It rocks.

Beachbody does have a home Pump class: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/les-mills-pump-workout.do?code=SEMB_GOOGLE_LMP&s_kwcid=TC|17312|beach%20body%20les%20mills%20pump||S|b|18787367413&gclid=CJOMx97q6LQCFcuZ4AodWg8Axg

OK. You guys are officially awesome. I never heard of Fleet Feet before. Looked them up and there are couple by me. It looks PERFECT for what I'm looking for. I've bought expensive sneaks in the past that were awful for me. Tickled to know of a place that is so focused on fit and the run. Can't wait to go there. Actually…

I'm with you! I'd like nothing better. Unfortunately, at least for pleasant running, I live in a super urban area. But I will run the parks and waterfront rather than the streets, for sure.

Thank you all for such great advice and positive support! I'm definitely going to get shoes fitted -- I'd hate to invest in good shoes and have them not work for me. Terrific advice. Are there any other chain stores in addition to Finish Line that are reliable? And thanks for the reminder on C25K. I've seen it floated…

If you have a smart phone, get the MFP app. It has a bar code scanner that makes logging super easy.
-
Your user name says it all. Because I want to be and feel awesome, not just average. And that's good enough motivation for me.
-
P.S. I just noticed we're around the same age. You can totally do this! And remember -- slow and steady wins the race. Losing weight too quickly can be a recipe for having it come back quickly.
-
What she said. Upping the calories helped me lose faster and made me a happier person. I'm 10 years older so my maintenance calories are a bit lower, but still very satisfying. Others have different experiences and don't eat exercise calories back but I'd rather eat cake.

I just turned 50 and haven't been this fit in many years. You just have to commit to it and do it. (And have fun with the process!)

We juice (and LOVE our Omega 2004) but don't use it for juice fasting. Instead, I have green juice (with some fruit) as a regular and highly nutritious part of my regular food intake (when I take the time to juice). I wouldn't use juicing as a diet to lose weight quickly. Weight lost too quickly usually comes back quickly.…

Yes! The better in shape you get, the more your body gets conditioned and then the more you have to up the ante to burn the same amount. Sounds like it might be time to increase your exercise routine in some way in addition to the walking -- strength training, high intensity cardio, walking steeper faster, etc. If you can…

Went from 34C to 32B. Yup. I lost 'em. And now I buy very pretty padded bras. It's all good.
-
We have an Omega 8004 and love it. I don't find it hard to clean.
-
Alas, at our age (I just turned 50), we don't get a lot of calories to mess with. But I've successfully lost weight NETTING 1300-1400 calories a day and exercising a bunch -- which means you can eat back your exercise calories and therefore allowing you to eat more while still netting 1300-1400 calories a day. I've also…

i was doing Pump (at the gym) three times a week religiously (plus cardio) for about 6 months, then bam! The weight dropped off and this new body revealed itself. It was like there was a total re-composition that started slow then kicked in big time. Now I'm alternating Pump classes with circuit training and heavy weights…

No doubt food is fuel, but it is also kind of an entertainment source. Why else would gourmet cooks do what they do? Why do we savor the most delicious well-made gorgeous food? Because we can enjoy it immensely, and that technically makes it entertainment. Fine food and drink is part of what makes life in general so…

You can always guesstimate what your workout is going to be and log it before you actually do it.
