I turn 50 next month and I'm in the best shape I've been in in years! I've had amazing results since starting my "fit at 50" campaign in November. So no -- it's never too late! And think about it... if you don't do anything, things will get worse, but if you do something/anything at all at any age, it can only get better!…

Allowed me to go out for a ridiculously yummy lunch with a friend and not feel one stitch worried about it!

Awesome results! Congrats!

They are reputable, and it looks like they have a fantastic marketing person who rocks at search engine optimization.

I'll throw in mine, too. NO. You look terrific, sweetie, and sounds like you're being really healthy. Healthy and fit is the most important thing, not the number on the scale. Just keep doing what you're doing. And... NO.

I don't like the hurricane fans either, but different strokes...

Sending heartfelt wishes that all of your dreams come true!

You are one lucky guy! Congrats on whatever it is that's getting you there! But oh man... you will have to have nerves and will of steel to stay on track there. I still remember meals I had there 7 years ago. Good for you for staying on MFP and reaching out. Wishing you an amazing time and much success!

YES, YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind, too, that clothing companies are sizing smaller and smaller -- I guess to stroke our egos? I was in Ann Taylor Loft the other day and I needed a size 2 or 0. A size 2 or 0??? I haven't been a size 2 since I was 12 (never mind 0) and I'm certainly not a size 2 now! Yes, I've lost weight, gotten slim and trim,…

I take glucosamine religiously. it takes a while for the benefits to kick in (3 months?), and if you stop or are spotty with it, it doesn't really work well, at least for me. Also, the stronger I get, the less my joints hurt. I had to push through joint pain to lift heavier (whereas before I used to favor the pain and lift…

A Starbucks Coffee Light Frappacino isn't too bad -- pretty darn tasty (and filling!) at 110 calories.

Well... not to be contrary to most of the posters so far, but when I was younger, I could eat anything I wanted and exercise alone dropped any excess weight right off with no change in diet whatsoever. Guess it was the high metabolism of youth. But now that I'm older, it's both exercise and diet. Alas, exercise alone…

I feel much better all around when I NET 1300-1400 calories daily. When I was consistently netting 1200 (or below) daily, I was too hungry and after a month or two felt pretty crappy. Not to mention I lost weight more slowly. Eating more I not only felt better, wasn't as hungry, but I lost weight more quickly, too.

My bat wings haven't completely gone away, but they've gotten much better! I've lost about an inch on each of my upper arms and my biceps have gotten a bit bigger which means bat wings have definitely gotten smaller! It's possible! (BTW - I do a ton of tricep work.)

Agreed -- MFP's is mighty low, especially if you're strength training. This is a good calculator for many things, including how much protein to intake daily: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/. The main advice I've gotten is that if you're ingesting a lot of protein is to drink plenty of fluids as too much…

Love that!

Every other day of strength training is terrific. But patience... it sometimes takes awhile for results to be obvious. In the mean time, just keep in mind that you're not getting less fit. You're on a great path. Keep it up and you'll see.

I'm thrilled with 24% considering I'll be 50 next month. You look utterly awesome. I wouldn't change a thing!
-
I've gone from almost 29% to 24%. Really pleased with this!
-
My trainer always says "Look around. Who's your competition?" Even though I'm not a particularly competitive person, this makes me look for someone stronger than me, fitter than me, and working harder than me, and pushes me to want to work as hard as I see them doing it.
-
Thank you!!!
-
Thanks! You look great, too! Love your stats -- perfection!
-
20% is terrific!!! Although I don't know that you can keep it the same while increasing your strength, since at the same (or less) weight, there would be more muscle and therefore less BF %. I think as long as you look and feel good in your body and clothes, at the end of the day, that's what really matters. Congrats on…

I read "low" as athletic. I think as long as there aren't any ED issues involved, that's super-healthy and fantastic!

Thanks Rae!

Thanks Jerry!

I'll be turning 50 next month and I feel awesome! Mostly because of being on MFP, working out a lot, and worrying too much about things my younger self used to worry about. One piece of advice though -- keep working out through your 40s. I pretty much stopped doing strength training for much of that decade (did some…

Two dog walks, 10 minutes cross-trainer, one-hour Combat class (MMA/kickboxing), 1/2 hour focused core work.

Inches. It's what you (and others) can see and feel. That and body fat %. The scale can do funny things...
