Yup, and I entered it all anyways! (And the real number (calories) wasn't as bad as the number I had imagined it would be.)

I had two knee surgeries at 24 (due to a tibial plateau fracture). I also didn't walk for almost 6 months. However, it's been almost 6 years and I am healthier than ever. It is possible to recover from knee surgery. Take as much physical therapy as they'll give you. I did about a year and my therapist would have me come in…

Really? The ads I see are a lot of gastric bypass ads and then items I search for like boots, home goods, etc.. And then my husband searches for guitars - so I'd say 25% of the ads are guitars....

I like watching the Netflix exercise videos. It only costs around $14 a month for us (I think it can be even cheaper with only 1 DVD at a time - unlimited). But, then you get to watch all the Instant videos/movies/workout videos/tv shows that they have online. The library is definitely the cheapest option - but $14 a month…

I love Trader Joes. The perimiters still have the healthier food, but the store is so much smaller. I also like not having to compare 10 brands of the same product.

I think a safe bet is the Tandoori Chicken. I've seen around 356 per serving and you can skip the rice if you want. I had Indian food last week and I just made sure to eat smaller portions. Enjoy!

Veggies. I think the crunch it makes and the added effort it takes to eat them makes them more satisfying. In addition, they are low in calories - so I can eat a lot more broccoli, carrots or celery than other foods. I know, I know, it's not the tastiest of snacks, but it helps hold me over until my next meal!

This is my best advice: "Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure." Intrinsic motivation has been found to be extremely effective in many arenas. When looking at intrinsic…

I have had a pair of Shape-Ups for about 2 months. I only wear them when I am walking. I have different shoes for running and another pair for exercise classes. I have heard (through a colleague's Chiropractor) that they aren't good for your back. For me, it's how I stand in them. Sometimes I will catch myself rolling back…

You could definitely have swelling around your ankle. Does it feel warm? However, you may be moving around a lot less, so the calories you burn everyday (BMR) may decrease over time. When I was injured (6 months in a wheel chair) I moved around a lot less - but I lost weight because it was harder for me to get to the food.

If you have Netflix you can watch some workout videos instantaneously through Watch Now. It's a great way to change up your routine and work out from home.

Welcome! I also tend to eat more at home and definitely on weekends. To counteract this I do two things: 1. Fill out my food log early in the day (helps me stay on target) 2. Exercise extra on the weekends so I can eat a few more calories Good luck!

I'm right there with you - that is CONFUSING!!!! Maybe talk to a nutritionist about getting more protein in your food.

Yup - no selective spot reduction. I do like Pilates because it seems to elongate the body/muscles. Also, each body is different. I still have hips and thighs at around 110 pounds and they are here to stay. I can't shrink my bones!!! I think the recommendation of cardio or a change in your exercise routine are great! Good…

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! What a great Friday. Congratulations!!!

My new "breakfast dessert" I call it is a small carton of low fat chocolate yogurt mixed with slices of banana. It's like having a chocolate covered banana for less than 200 calories. It also helps me get my protein and calcium (which I need more of) right away. I also like the Kashi bars - they are tasty.

Congratulations! The hard "work" is worth it!

I only count what exceeds my normal activity level. For example, I count gardening as an exercise because it makes me sweat!

I'm sorry to hear about all of your family members. I wish them all the best. As for the emotional eating, you did really well. First, you noticed that you wanted to eat more and then you made better choices. Then, you reached out to others to share. Congratulate yourself you did well!!! Food is something we can control…

I get it - I am out of the house (between work and commuting) around 12 hours a day. When I get home around 8 or 8:30 pm I don't want to exercise, but I do. Even if it's just 20 minutes, I feel better after. The endorphins help my mood and get me motivated! It's hard but you can do it!!!
-
Have you thought about adding a little more cardio? You said you do about 20 minutes - but you could probably do 30 minutes a day. The Pilates DVD is on Netflix watch now - so if you have Netflix you can try different DVDs to vary your workout routine. Good luck!!!! .

There are lots of great grocery stores in Pasadena, CA. I love the one year old Whole Foods in Pasadena (two stories) - it's huge and gorgeous. Their salad bar is amazing!!!!!! Also, if you can find a Trader Joe's - they have healthy food options. Enjoy your trip to CA!!!

Is there an emotional component to eating more at night? For me it's the only meal I get to eat with my husband - so it is the largest one I eat. It's often the first time of the day where we can sit down together and talk. I know you are supposed to eat more in the morning, but I've never been a morning eater - even as a…

It sounds like you two could benefit from sitting down and talking about your health goals. Going to the doctor and getting recommendations can help both you and your partner look at the reality of your health from a medical perspective. He doesn't have to diet, if he doesn't want to. But also, you can get healthy and…

Yup, I'm with everyone - Target has the best priced exercise clothing. I just bought two champion tops for $3 each!! Definitely check out their sales rack. Another option for a little more stylish workout clothes is New York and Company. They also over petite and tall options. The workout pants I got there were around $20.…

Thanks for sharing your struggles with weight and having an eating disorder. I suggest talking to a medical doctor about any sort of weight/calorie/exercise changes.

I work late - so most of the time I am eating dinner around 8 or 9pm. I drink around 1-2 glasses of water and eat a meal (approx. 400 calories) and then off to bed around 10 or 11pm. Thanks!

Have you had a physical recently? It's always important to rule out any medical issues. Also, you can talk to the doctor about nutrition and possibly see a dietitian to make sure you are getting the correct ratios. If you aren't getting the right food it can affect your mood - which can make you feel bad about every dress…
