I love great beer (craft beer). I also love a cold Coors on a hot day or at a dive bar. When it comes to "gimmicky beers" as you call them, I like to try anything. Generally they are not my favorite, but I view it how I view food...people have to experiement and try new things to find the really great new combos...no…

Spaghetti squash is awesome and in season, but I think she is talking about one of those devices that spiral cuts zuchinni into noodles. BTW, I have learned about spaghetti squash that if you bake it whole first and then slice it it is super easy to cut in half (as opposed to how tough it is to slice raw). You just need…

On my way to government class. Heard the news from a friend I passed by and thought it was a weird joke. The thing I remember most about that day was the strange quiteness...I had to work at my after school job that night and had to turn the radio off on the way because I just couldn't listen any more...it was like the…

There are lots of recipes out there for "better for you" cakes. Example: Diet soda cake http://www.skinnytaste.com/2008/12/diet-soda-cake-35-pts.html I've had diet soda cake in several flavors (but made into cupcakes not sheet cake). You would never guess it's low cal. The texture and flavor are awesome and you can use…

The blog closet cooking has a seriously awesome recipe for a roasted strawberry BBQ sauce and several ways to use it. I made some a couple of weeks ago and have been dreaming about it ever since. It takes something like 4 cups of strawberries to make so you need quite a good amount. I know the combo might sound a bit…

1) 31 (today. Goddamit today's my birthday and that's the first time I've had to use the new number.) 2) 150 3) Minnesota 4) Sedentary 5) 6 6) Yes! 6) Dinner (unless frequent snacks throughout the day count as a meal) 7) 6-8 8) 30-100 oz a day (100 during the work week) 9) I eat. I either have a little bit of what is…

I make different batches of mason jar salads every week. I know you said you are sick of salads, but maybe expanding your variety would help. I especially like making some kind of meat in the crockpot for sandwiches for dinner (like shredded bbq chicken) and then using some to make salads. My favorite varieties are taco…

Good point and with such compelling and sound, fact based evidence! Lol. Seriously people, lighten up. Being right or wrong is no where near the point. OP was a bit confused. End of story. I'm going to go have a great friday and I hope you all do to.
-
Actually I understand it completly the opposite of you and we could continue to argue the differences in what we've both read, etc. but that seems pointless to me as I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I'm only pointing out to OP that the idea of "starvation mode" is not at all what she seems to think it is.
-
That's pretty much what I was saying...so I'm not sure what your point is. But actually, in starvation mode, your body feeds off the muscle first because muscle uses more energy/calories. Weight loss doesn't stop, you just loose muscle, not fat first. I didn't say your body didn't have fuel, but it's not getting it from…
-
agree with above. And also, starvation mode doesn't really have anything to do with "hunger" exactly. If you believe in it (which I personally do but I know many others don't), it is an extended period of time in which you don't give your body enough calories to function on (I believe, though I'm not a doctor or anything).…

32 oz bottle at my desk. I fill it 3 times during the day and sip all day long. Makes me have to pee about ever hour, but that helps me move more during the day too, so I'm ok with that. Honestly I haven't really figured out weekends yet. I just do my best.

Burn out is a major factor for many people too...if you do something drastic that stresses you and makes it difficult to live your normal life, enjoying going out with friends, etc. you will likely throw in the towel before you see the results you want. Slow and stead wins the race. You'll be much happier and mentally…

I don't know...I said I love you first to my boyfriend (who was recently divorced and screwed over pretty badly). I knew he needed to hear it first to sort of, trust again I guess. It was a few weeks before he said it back, and I didn't feel akward about that. I was pretty sure he did love me too though, even if he…

I'm so glad you like them! I haven't tried the PB&J ones myself yet. I freestyle it a lot with these cookies now and just throw in whatever the heck I've got laying around I want to use up. I'll have to give those ones a go sometime.

I just have the original kindle but I love it (I need a computer now too though so might go tablet route). I always have it in my purse so I will never again be in the situation of sitting in waiting room, waiting for a bus or dinning by myself without something to read. There are so many free books and getting new…

Dido this. There was a quick additional set-up for syncing fitbit with MFP. FYI, the fitbit sends all activity to MFP...so my first morning with it I "earned" 60 extra calories for the day on top of my usual 1300 just for walking to the kitchen and back a few times for coffee...there are some settings you can tweak to make…

It really depends on your body type...I'm 5'6" and shooting for 140. I have a slightly larger bone structure with broad shoulders. If you are like me, then it's probably a bit too skinny. The lowest I would ever even consider going is 135...looking back at some pics of myself at my skinniest I looked unhealthy. I'm not…

Well they are just oats and banana (and anything else you like) so I think they should fit that bill. Can use gulten free oats too though I thought the texture was a little less appealing. It's nice that they are so simple...I always have everything on hand to make them if my bananas go brown. I hope you like them!
-
I love oatmeal banana cookies (I see someone else isn't such a fan)...but they are really more like banana bread bites, if you will. I love mixing up the ingredients...chocolate chips, nuts, peanut butter chips, coconut flakes or a combo. They freeze well too which is a good thing because they mold fast. I make a ton at…

I LOVE to spread them on one half of a flour tortilla, add chicken, beans, veg, sauce or whatever and fold the uncheese wedged side over to make a quesadilla. Cook in a skillet with a spray of pam on the shell to crip it up without adding calories. Yum yum. It's a great way to be creative and use up whatever you have on…

That sounds really yummy! I might have to give that a try!

I NEED to eat breakfast...it's always been crazy to me that some people can't stomach it. So I am for sure one in the category that eats breakfast every single day. For the last few months I've been taking 1 cup milk with 1 scoop vanilla protein and usually either some pumpkin spice or some kind of extract in there for…

Awesome for you! How about a photo shoot with your kids? Even just in the backyard. Get some crazy clothes and have some fun being silly together. Then you'll have something lasting from today that you can look back on (daddy's 1 year aniversary impromtu party). I'm sure your kids are a big part of why you got your act…

Everyone has pretty much already answered or made a smart @$$ comment ;-) but to give you a good example of why all cups are not created equal weight wise, think of popcorn and beef and imagine 1 cup of each. Hopefully you can imagine the weight would be vastly different.

I'm pretty sure I heard that grapes are the most awesome thing ever in guac (fine cooking magazine article probably) but haven't tried it myself yet. One of those things that sounds totally weird at first but then you can't imagine ever not using again because it's so awesome. I guess it would be a bit like how I love…

Haha. This ^ = Awesome.

Begining to weigh weigh myself only once a week has been one of the best changes I've made, and I never had an issue with watching the daily ups and downs. I get so much more motivation for my weekly weigh in and then feel pumped after when I see a loss. I get to celebrate those losses more and be more intune to my…

I give myself plenty of snacks all day long, so personally I usually have breakfast between 100-200 calories (the lighter the better though) and a low calorie snack or two before lunch. This works for me. What I eat on the weekends is a little different though and would be good for someone wanting something more satisfying…

That's not exactly the point I'm trying to make. I don't claim I know the whole story. I just know I wouldn't have given it a second thought if I'd be called "darlin". But to this gal, she was deeply offended. We don't all have the same "line" so I personally believe if giving the benefit of the doubt when you can rather…
