  • I do wish MFP would make recipes editable for our own use. I often make recipes from bloggers, etc that are in the database but I might just tweek the recipe...for example I'm making a beef stew this weekend from a blogger, but I am going to make it guiness beef stew by adding a few things. In this case, it's not so bad…
  • I used to think I would be happy with just bread, but my last trip to Germany brought the biggest cravings for fresh fruit and veg...eating deli sandwhiches for almost every meal just doesn't work. Maybe some kind of pizza like a hawaiian because I could pick of the pinneaple if I really just wanted fruit :-)
  • Are you looking at the serving size of this package as well? That is one of the key things of reading labels...even things that seem like they are packaged for a single serving are often marked as "servings per container: 2" or 3 or more. Always check this part of your label.
  • Stop eating the lower calorie version of things, for example egg whites vs. eggs. Eat the whole egg. It's good for you and you will at least double the calories. The whole cholesterol thing with eggs has been debunked if that's what you are worried about and the yolk is where most of the nutrients are.
  • I always get my boyfriend in on it when I'm dieting. He's a great sport about it as he really thinks a lot about his own healthy too. He cheats on the diets a lot, and that's fine, I am not trying to force anything on him. But when he wants to cook things or make plans to go out to eat, I just let him know that I need…
  • Great job! And better late than never with the weigh in. Looks like the group has thinned out pretty quickly. I guess some people just won't be skinny biches by summer :-)
  • Well incase you missed the memo, implied tone does not translate to online message boards. This was either a joke or a nasty reply. I didn't call the person an a** or anything like that because it could have been either and I'm not going to assume anything. People are protective of the bacon. Your comment reads like that…
  • Hey, just trying to help you save a few bucks. Don't get me wrong, bacon is delicous. But have you got a muffin tin? Put your wallet away and save that money for more bacon if you want.
  • I totally doen't get this idea. I mean...couldn't you just turn your muffin tin upside down and bake the bacon on the backside? Am I the only one who has ever though of this? I've never tried it and probabaly never will because I don't feel I need a bowl made of bacon in my life, but seriously...save your money.
  • Wow. I feel for you. This is a challenge on so many levels. I guess the allergy thing might be good to try..."Thank you, those look delicious but unfortunatly I have food allergies." You can be vauge and say you have a lot of different allergies so that they can't make something that will fit. Yes, it's a lie, but I'm on…
  • I get recipes from here also, but I have made plenty I won't make again. Most are good but don't really impress my boyfriend or I. Some are GREAT. In my opinion, it's an excellent resource but not a sure thing. I would recomend it but I won't tell you every recipe tastes as good as the higher calories version. I like her…
  • Well, he is calling a recomendation...not a rule. So he can make recomendations about your diet all day, but you dont have to take them. Doesn't mean he still won't think you should, but so what?
  • Maybe you could bring them to work or church or something and have your own little "bake sale"...choose a charity or something that you can give the proceeds to. Or you could just sell them and make yourself a little extra cash. I freeze some of mine for a later time, but if you bake a lot that wouldn't really help you. I…
  • Depends on what he likes, but here are a few good ones. Not fancy, but SOOO tasty. http://www.emilybites.com/2013/10/deep-dish-sloppy-joe-casserole.html Delicious over rice and feels much more classy if its more of a date night thing http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/04/broiled-tilapia-with-thai-coconut-curry.html Yummy…
  • It would be easier to help you on this if you open your diary so people can see what you are eating. Not knowing what you consume regularly, I would say try adding a handful of almonds or some healthy fat/protein food into your day. That number shouldn't be very hard to reach in your day...if you have been eating low cal…

  • I am interested in getting a fitbit as well. I am leaning towards the force because of the watch functionality...I should be at my goal by summer and I am currently wearing a pedometer, but it is bulky and I don't want to stop wearing the pedometer once I reach my goal. The less reasons for me to ditch it the better.
  • Also, I've recently started making "freezer meals". The idea being that every time I cook a healthy casserole or something that will freeze well, I make two and freeze one. Now I always have a healthy, easy option available which saves me from ordering a pizza or going through the drive through because I don't have time to…
  • One idea I saw recently that I really liked for myself was to pick up a magazine or book when you are feeling munchy...Usually you will get so engrossed it what you are reading that you will forget about the cravings. If you are still hungry after 15 minutes or so with a book, well then you are ACTUALLY hungry and not just…
  • Ick, I hated "The Magicians". To each his own but I thought it was a total rip off of Harry Potter and Narnia...except written for the kids that read those and are now grown up so there is sex, swearing and substance abuse. It wasn't for me at all. Transfiguration into ferrets so they all have sex with eachother? weird. By…

  • My boyfriend makes the most amazing salmon that turns everyone into a salmon lover (I've seen it proved on more than one occasion). Honestly he always makes it slightly different, but the basic idea is to sprinkle brown sugar and dill over the top of the salmon and bake. Sometimes he's added garlic and I would imagine he…
  • I agree, you might find in the answer in what you are eating. For example, I know someone who could not lose weight and it turns out they were starting their day every day with a banana (which is obviously a very healthy food) but that was inhibiting their weight loss for some reason. He exchanged a few bananas a week for…
  • I make the "Healthy Cookies" from the blog Skinnytaste. They are just made with overipe bananas and oats (and any chip, nut or dried fruit you like in a cookie). Tastes like banana bread and does a good job curbing cravings at about 45 calories a cookie. Also, light string cheese (takes forever to eat so that helps too)…
  • Thanks for writing this. I have a MFP friend that I hope reads this. I don't want to be too pushy, but I know she's not giving her body enough fuel. Luckily, I know she will be seeing an MD soon and is looking for answers. I'm a nobody, but hopefully a professional's opinion will make it click.
  • I can relate (I'm sure we all can) but I tell you what, when I get those cravings and give in to them, the burger or what have you is never actually very good...It always ends up disapointing me and then I feel like I gave in for nothing. Rather than feeling satisfied, I end up feeling guiltly and unhappy. That kind of…
  • You are so welcome. I LOOOVED it. We went out to dinner the night after I made it and I was sad because I really really wanted to eat those leftoevers. Lol. Try those Emily bites recipes...it's not "high-brow", just delicious. If he wants to eat two portions, that's probably fine and you will likely be happy with one and…
  • I may cut my hair short and get laser hair removal for super smooth legs, etc. I figure extra motivation to show off my hot bod will be extra motivation to keep my hot bod ;-)
  • Oh this is my territory :-) Try this recipe. http://www.emilybites.com/2013/10/deep-dish-sloppy-joe-casserole.html This blogger makes comfort food healthy (and they are all really easy too). I try recipes from tons of healthy blogs all the time and most I would never make again. Literally everything I've made from this…
  • Nice loss!!! That's awesome!
