These are styles, not brands. Just fyi so you don't feel silly when you ask for them. And yes, Guinness is a good lower calorie option. The lower the abv generally the lower the calories. ABV is often listed on the beer menu as well. There are plenty of other options out there besides Guinness for lower calorie that aren't…

On the healthy food note, try Emilybites.com if you never have. Gosh her stuff is good. I have been a follower of skinnytaste for a long time and try foods from lots of other bloggers too, but honestly none of them are consitent like emilybites. I'm rarely impressed (even with skinnytaste) but Emily's recipes, while not…

I buy a bunch of stuff at once online from favorite retailers that have a brick and mortar near by. New York and Company is one of my favorites. There are always great coupons to be found and always sales going on, which can be combined in many cases. I'll use a coupon and order when they have free shipping, try it on at…

I agree. I also think people don't focus enough on a plan to maintain their improved health. I have been trying to look at everything I am doing now as "practice" for maintaining a healthy lifestyle...and that doesn't just stop at food and exercise. For example, many people weigh daily. I don't think that in it's self is a…

Love Indian. I have a similar recipe that has never quite done it for me. I'm not sure how different this one is at a glance but I'll be giving it a try! It sure sounds good.

This. And also, Mrs. X is probably way more embarased than you. I'm sure she feels like a total @ss and deserves to. Wearing the right clothes may be an issue for you also (or maybe not). Personally, I am short waisted, which means I carry weight around in the middle cause there is just nowhere for it to go...this can…

Ember is beautiful! My dog Jones, lab mix (collie?) also helps me stay active. I coudn't say for sure if I would be where I am right now in my weight loss without him or if I would have fallen back into old habits again already. All winter I still had to take him for our daily 2 mile walk and sometimes twice if my…

On those days I've been falling back on quesadillas...whatever meat I have leftover from other stuff (like buffalo chicken) or beans, some laughing cow cheese wedges and a bit of low fat shredded cheese. They take about 3 minutes in a skillet. Oh and coat one side of the tortilla shell with cooking spray or spray…

I think a surprise is best...so i don't see a perfect proposal as over a romatic candlelit dinner...I would think something might be up. Same goes for on an aniversary, or valentines day...it's just too obvious for me. But I'd still say yes and be thrilled, don't get me wrong. Some friends of mine got engaged under the…

I like it lots of ways...in salads, guac and on burgers. Having this this weekend on a burger with pepperjack cheese and verde salsa and I'm looking forward to it.

You'd want to manually enter your fitness classes if you get a fitbit because the steps taken in that time frame likely wouldn't be an accurate represntation of the actual activity (think cycling...the fitbit would probably log steps but it woudn't really be right). When you log other activities with the fitbit, you are…

Even just walking is good cardio. It helps me a lot to listen to music and to put a towel or something over the clock on the machine so I am not looking at it constantly. Swimming is a good idea too or a workout video/class like zumba...something off of a machine might be more your style.

I have the force and I found the key for me was to disable "calorie estimation" in the settings on the fitbit website. I also switched the setting on the "food plan" section under the "log" page to sednetary. This changed things for me so that I start in the morning with a calorie allowance of something like 700 (which is…

Share with your friend your thoughts. Maybe the two of you can do something together like go get ingredients to make something healthy and then cook/bake together. My favorite snack is Skinnytaste.com's healthy cookies...2 overripe mashed bananas and 1 cup of quick oats, then whatever nuts, chocolate/peanut butter chips,…

Protien shake with a bit of pumpkin spice. Yum

Minnesota is still dealing with snow too. Rain today but snow tonight and later this week :-(

I doubt any gym will allow your dog unless it's a service animal, so switching gyms would probably be pointless. You'll just be in the same situation. I worked in commercial aviation for a number of years and I believe your dog could qualify as an emotional support pet, which is kind of like a service animal. They aren't…

skinnytaste.com has a great stuffed cabbage casserole recipe. Infact, I have a cabbage getting old in my fridge...I just might make it this week myself :-) Also, I've been meaning to try making cabbage steaks or wedges...I saw someone else mentioned a similar idea. Slice it in wedges or big round slices (steaks) and brush…

I keep a big water bottle at my desk at work and keep sipping all day. It's 32 oz and I fill it 3 times. The extra bathroom breaks help me get more activity in my day too. I haven't figure out a good system for myself on the weekends yet, but this works for me 5 out of 7 days, which is better than never getting enough…

My go-tos are Subway, a large chili from Wendy's or two fresco soft shell tacos from Taco Bell. Some places have decent salads too. It just seems that salads get changed up a lot at fast food places, so I can't keep track of what's current. Culver's has a chicken salad of some sort that is good, if you live somewhere that…

If I sit down with the wrong food, I will eat and eat and eat and eat. For me, it's all about portion control and logging everything I eat. Popcorn (healthy popcorn like skinny pop) is my new favorite snack because I get a large portion for the amount of calories. If I don't measure out my servings though, I will easily…

Check out emilybites.com. She post really great comfort food type recipes. I try new recipes all the time from healthy cooking bloggers (skinnytaste, Iowagirleats, backtoherroots, etc) and hers have the best success rate in my house hands down. Most recipes start with comfort food as the inspiration and make them heathier…

I've been making mason jar salads for all my work lunches for a few months now. I never was much of a salad person, but crave them now. I make a batch on Sunday, sometimes enough for the whole week. Incase you haven't seen this idea: - Dressing is the first thing to go in the jar, at the bottom. - Next is bean, meat,…

Personally, I do most of my logging in advance and find it works well for me. The main reason is though, then I know how many calories I have left for snacks, etc. where I can have a little more flexibility. Logging ahead helps me stick to a plan and use food in my fridge, instead of it going to waste. I pretty much know…

I make a ton of 2-ingredient healthy cookies and freeze them in baggies of 8 or so to take out each week. The "cookies" are just 2 smashed, overripe bananas and 1 cup of quick oats. I add about 1/4 cup of whatever I feel like to mix it up...chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, coconut flakes, nuts...the calories stay…

I don't believe these are non-fat but they are very low cal and yummy. Bolthouse makes yogurt dressings that can be found in the refrigerated section of produce. Usually the dressing is about 35 calories for 2 TBS and very yummy and creamy. They are pretty much the only ones I buy now and my boyfriend is really picky about…

I mix up a protien shake but only use 1 scoop of protien powder in skim milk/almond milk or whatever. I take my time siping it at work. I usually just throw it all in a small tupperware container and use a wisk to mix it up before throwing in my my lunch bag. I have a 30 minute drive to work and sometimes don't start the…

Sautee them in olive oil or just plain steam them in the micro when in a hurry. They are fabulous wrapped in proscuito (spelling?), sprinkled with a bit of parm cheese and baked, but we typically only do this for a fancier meal or a holiday. I like them in pasta salads as well.

I oil pull every day. I've read after time it can help receding gums to grow back, so that was the reason I started. It hasn't yet that I can tell, but it takes months for the effects apparently. I still love it though because of other differences...my tongue always had a little white coat (even though I would brush it…
