  • Welcome, and good on you for wanting to shed the weight yourself! That shows some serious drive, and being willing to hang here with us is a great step towards that goal! I admit that I have slipped more than once, and for quite some time, but if I can be of any help, let me know! You can do this!
  • Do what? Oh, it is just these pants, phenomenal, eh? ^_- (Or the more standard not so witty 'Eat less. Move more.')
  • Best EVER. Thank you!
  • Pretty much same same as everyone before me has said. If you are willing to guesstimate, do it - there are also a TON of websites that will help you eyeball serving sizes, or how much a cup or X ounces of something is, often relating it to common objects (deck of cards, softball, etc). If you don't like the guessing of…
  • Welcome! Come on in a play, the water is fine! (Ok, ok a bit frigid in the Midwest this time of year, but still...polar bear swim?) ^_^ Welcome and congrats on taking the first steps toward your goals!
  • I do not, one of my friends does, and frankly it is AWESOME. But it depends on how much you plan to use it. Everyday? Probably worth the expense. Once a month? Perhaps not. If you aren't sure, check resale/consignment secondhand stores...you can find some cool stuff there that just needs a serious wash before using! ^_^
  • Switching up workout routines is a good call, also perhaps through some resistance training in there if you have not already...though muscle is denser than fat it does help burn more cals. The other is to look at your eating - do you eat your exercise calories or no? Perhaps a temporary shift in that will help boot you off…
  • If you really aren't sure, and don't want to spend the $$ on classes (if your gym does not offer them/you don't have a gym), check out the DVD selection at your library, often they will have a variety of DVDs for fitness and the like. I have been doing/trying to do Rodney Yee's Power Yoga Total Body - the view are gorgeous…
  • I have abs! ...somewhere under the other stuff... ^_- Really same thing everyone has said, do what you need to for your satisfaction. I am happy with a flat tummy that is toned - usually the outer lines defined a bit, but full on six-pack? That is a level of commitment/drive I am not sure I have. I am always impressed with…
  • Depending on if I am home or on the road things can shift, but a few things that stay pretty constant are: lime or lemon juice (often in lieu of dressing -bit of olive oil if I have it around), any veg - the big thing for me is when it starts feeling boring, I will mix it up with some different spices - I have used black…
  • Frankly I think everyone did a fabulous job! Way to go, and thank you for keeping me motivated in my hydration! Cheers to all!

  • Are your floors carpet or hardwood? I lived on a second floor apartment and tended to work out rather early in the AM, I don't know if my downstairs neighbor did not hear me/wake up, or what, but I tended to try to do most of my jumping around on a fairly thick rug/pad and practiced landing softly. (I did the same workout…

  • As one who has been somewhere similar (guilt-wise) you have two options - use the guilt to help get back on track, or if that is not so much your style, try to simply accept that sometimes these things will happen. Add 20 min of cardio to your day (jump rope, jog, take a walk) for a bit to 'even things out' if you like.…
  • Generally, (apologies do not recall where I came across this) avacoado is not a food you want to cook as it can go bitter during the cooking process. You might be able to sear them on a grill, but I have a hard time imagining how they would stand up to grilling.

  • A tablespoon or so of flaxseed mixed into your yogurt perhaps? (And a dash of cinnamon for taste if you dig it!)

  • (I just had the most amusing image of someone trying to 'spot train' their feet for weight loss!) I'd say (NOTE: I may not know what I am talking about!) that you will eventually shed fat from all over. There are places that will seem to slim faster than others, and parts that will be stubborn...(gar!) but persevere and I…
  • http://www.queenofwands.net/d/20040204.html Just for giggles for those who struggle to deal with what is happening to our language. ^_^ ...and I know it may be a dead horse, but it keeps on dying in front of me and that makes me a mite crazed.
  • If 1200 cal/day is a lower number of calories than your body burns in an average day (essentially if your profile is set with the accurate activity level and MFP sets your 'maintenance ' level above 1200/day, then yes in THEORY it would still be beneficial to your weight loss goals. ...but, as usual, I may not know what I…
  • You are welcome to check out my diary as well if you wish.
